Maeve Dewar is a talented artist and has recently entered the international art scene with her work being exhibited in Cape Town, London and New York. Maeve has been painting for over 35 years, and although she works in all mediums, for the last 10 years, she has more specifically focused on mastering her unique water colour technique. Maeve lives and works from her studio in Vermont.
For 4 years Maeve studied under Christian Prosser (graduate London School of Art), who subsequently became her mentor and friend. Christian inspired her to paint from her gut and intuition, taught her how to love and value the magic and power of colour. One of those important moments was an exercise of 400 shades of green. He was the first person who made her aware that it was more important for her to get inside, rather than feeding off what other people said or told her to do.
Maeve Dewar has travelled extensively throughout the country teaching and giving workshops, struggling always not to keep bread on the table, but more importantly, paints, brushes and canvases. Maeve's work is currently respresented in South Africa, USA, UK Australia, Holland, Portugal, Italy and Germany.
