Tatiana Bilbao: “The House and the City”
Tatiana Bilbao, through the work of her multicultural and multidisciplinary office based in Mexico City, attempts to understand the place that surrounds her and to translate its rigid codes into architecture. As a reaction to global capitalism, the studio aspires to regenerate spaces in order to humanize them and to open up niches for cultural and economic development. The firm’s recent projects include a botanical garden, a master plan and open chapel for a pilgrimage route, a biotechnological center for a technology institution, a house that can be built for $8,000, and a funeral home. Their work has been published in A+U, Domus, and the New York Times, among other periodicals.
Bilbao has been a visiting professor at Yale School of Architecture and Rice School of Architecture. She was named as an Emerging Voice by the Architecture League of New York in 2009 and received the Kunstpreis Berlin in 2012 and the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture Prize in 2014. Her work is in the collections of the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, the Carnegie Museum of Art, and the Art Institute of Chicago.

3. EPIC PINTXOS IN SAN SEBASTIAN! ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
When you go to San Sebastian, it’s all about eating pintxos (the local form of tapas). The pintxo bars in this city are incredible. But the historic centre can get really busy. So in this video, my Devour Tours co-founder Lauren and I head to the neighbourhood of Gros (only a 10 minute walk from the history centre) and visit 9 of the best local pintxo bars there.
At each of the 9 places we try the specialty pintxo - everything from foie, to anchovies, to cured pork belly, to cod, to the most amazing fresh tomatoes and even dessert. And in each of the 9 pintxo bars, we’re largely surrounded by locals. So this gives us a great insight into the true local pintxo culture.
I give lots of tips for how to navigate a pinxto bar. And I also show you all the local drinks you should be enjoying with your pintxos. From the local white wine Txakoli, to super dry Basque cider to Rioja (from just 2 hours north), you’ll really get the low down and what drinks to pair with your pintxos!

Spain's 'low cost' prostitutes
Dozens of prostitutes for less than a hundred euros a trick, and fully within the law: that's what many brothels here have on offer, just six kilometres over the border from France, in the Pyrenees. The place is making a name for itself among the French -- a popularity that local authorities could have done without.Duration: 01:59

7 Architecture Facts pt.52 | MIT, Disney, Bilbao & DC
This is a video about 7 facts in architecture. They are as follows; Eero Saarinen designed the Kresge Auditorium at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The roof is a concrete shell clad in copper that meets the ground at only three points. The dome originally had no interior supports. Eventually, however, some were added at the curtain walls; Whether created by hand or digitally carved by lasers, architects use physical models. Architects use models to evaluate their work and show it off. Clients like models because a model represents what the client has paid for before it’s built; Frank Gehry designed the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain. The building is reflective and fluid and incorporates properties of the adjacent river in material and form. It’s also become a symbol of the rejuvenating effects of architecture on a place; Jean Nouvel designed Torre Agbar, the 38-story skyscraper in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The building’s recognizable shape, colorful exterior, and operable louvered blind system are striking features. Plus, at night the entire facade lights up; Henry Cobb of I.M. Pei’s office designed the John Hancock Tower in Boston. The tower was designed to utilize large pieces of glass and blue-tinted reflective glazing in order to mirror adjacent buildings such as H.H. Richardson’s Trinity Church; Walt Disney’s Cinderella’s Castle uses a technique called forced perspective. The castle appears more dramatic because building elements and forms are scaled down the higher the castle climbs. Builders used to do the same with the slates on roofs; Unlike many medieval cathedrals, Chartres Cathedral in France has two stylistically different towers. The shorter Romanesque tower was part of the original church, while the taller Gothic tower replaced the original that was struck by lightning; There are 365 steps from the basement of the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., to the top of the outer dome; Doug Patt is an architect.
This is a video series about facts in architecture. The 15 second videos featured in the series are created by Doug and posted every day on his Instagram account @dougpatt.

Exciting Mini Adventure to Butron Castle in Gatika, Spain
Hi Friends,
On Today's adventure, we are visiting Butrón Castle. Butrón Castle is a castle that was built in the middle ages and modeled after castles in Bavaria. It was constructed during a time when the wealthy families in the area were continually fighting bloody battles. In the 13th century, it started as a tower house, which is a basic brick house used for defensive purposes and housing. It wasn't until the 14th century when the 5th Lord of Butrón transformed it into a castle.
When the bloody battles stopped three centuries later, the castle stood abandoned for many years until Francisco de Cubas changed its appearance in 1878.
The castle is closed and not open to the public, and although an investment group purchased it in 2005, no renovation work has taken place at the castle.
If you are in the area and need a little stretch break, Butrón Castle is a great stop to make for a few minutes.

WBB - Tiny Spanish village tour
Riding the Pyrenees
Mountain roads, always a favourite for motorcycling - and we have the Pyrenees, French and Swiss Alps in quick succession, so by the time we leave Western Europe our mountain fix should be satisfied. Starting on the West coast of Northern Spain and exiting Spain via Andorra into France has given us a great combination of mountain villages, tunnels and Passes and more than our fair share of snow. Here’s the first of 3 videos - the confined space of a typical Spanish village, makes navigating past the walls and ongoing traffic that one encounters somewhat hazardous and scary at times.
San Sebastian Donostia Basque Spain Chris Summerfield Photography
I took time out to visit the medieval sea side town of Donostia, the station was a bit confusing as it had a different name to both mentioned here, so I over shot it by one stop before realizing that I had possibly gone past the town. 1-30 hrs from Biarritz and well worth a visit.San Sebastián is a resort town on the Bay of Biscay in Spain’s mountainous Basque Country. It’s known for Playa de la Concha and Playa de Ondarreta, beaches framed by a picturesque bayfront promenade, and world-renowned restaurants helmed by innovative chefs. In its cobblestoned old town (Parte Vieja), upscale shops neighbor vibrant pintxo bars pairing local wines with bite-size regional specialties.
