Mobile, Alabama - Bienville Square (2020)
Bienville Square is a historic city park in the center of downtown Mobile, Alabama. Bienville Square was named for Mobile's founder, Jean-Baptiste Le Moyne, Sieur de Bienville. It takes up the entire block bordered by the streets of Dauphin, Saint Joseph, Saint Francis, and North Conception.
Bienville Square had its beginnings as a public park in 1824 when the United States Congress passed an act that transferred a large plot of land to the city of Mobile and specified that the property be forever used as a city park. This plot had been the site of the old Spanish Hospital on the southwestern corner of the block, at the corner of Dauphin Street and North Conception Street. The city began buying the other lots in the block in 1834 and, by 1849, held title to the entire block.
The May 30, 1869 edition of the Mobile Register gives a short history of the square: For thirty years of more Bienville Square-- the public square as it was called for two thirds of that time-has had an existence, but in its neglected state, a receptacle of trash and a lair for vagabonds, it was an absolute nuisance until it was put into its present condition through the energy, good taste and liberal judgement of Lewis T. Woodruff. Bienville Square as it is, is his creation, and he never ceased to feel an interest in its being properly cared for.
The square was a primary gathering place for residents of the city from the 1850s to the 1940s. By the late 1960s, however, Bienville Square had become rundown as the city lost population to the suburbs in the postwar housing developments. With the revival of downtown starting in the 1980s, the city renewed the square and its popularity increased.
Theodore Roosevelt spoke in the square in 1905 about the importance of the Panama Canal to the port of Mobile. It was the site of many mass meetings by shipyard workers from Alabama Drydock and Shipbuilding Company during World War II as the company experienced labor disputes.

Judson & Kori - Wedding Day - Christ Anglican Church, Heron Lakes Country Club - Mobile, Alabama
Judson & Kori’s Wedding Day was filled with fun, love, friendship and family. The day started out with the ladies getting ready at Heron Lakes Country Club. Throughout the morning they got their hair, makeup and nails done while having snacks and drinking the cocktail of the morning, mimosas. “Mimosas cause you’re supposed ta” as Kori called them. After all the bridesmaids were ready, everyone rode a Trailways Bus to Christ Anglican Church. Once there, Kori put on her finishing touches…wedding gown, shoes, jewelry and her veil. From there she was off to the sanctuary. Meanwhile, Judson and his groomsmen were back at their family home getting ready for the big day. While the guys got ready they had a few drinks, sang a few songs and had a lot of fun. From there they went to Heron Lakes to catch a separate bus ride to the church. When the guys got to the church their waiting area had a pool table, video games and even a drum set to play on. Once Kori & Judson were ready, they went to the sanctuary separately for their “First Look”. After a few pictures, it was time for the ceremony. Local friends and family and even people from across the United States joined together at the church to support the union of these two. After the ceremony was over, everyone got on the bus which took us back to Heron Lakes Country Club for the reception. Once the couple was formally announced, they had their first dance that came with a very pleasant surprise to Kori. Instead of a recording of their first song, the groomsmen got together with a guitar and microphone and sang to the couple acapella. Kori then danced with her father and then Judson with his mom. Once it was time for the party to get started, SuperFUNk Fantasy stepped on to the stage. This band partied nonstop until it was time to leave. They played music from the 80’s, 90’s & today. Half way through the night, the wedding couple had a nice surprise for the crowd. They threw out Headbands and Glow Sticks! This took the party to a whole new level. Everyone sang their hearts out and danced till they had to stop. Once it was time to leave, everyone received shakers & streamers and showered the newlyweds with cheers as they left in the limo. Thank you for allowing Bienville Productions to video your full wedding weekend. It was truly an honor and an experience we will never forget.
Dauphin Island, Alabama
Dauphin Island is a town in Mobile County, Alabama, United States, on a barrier island of the same name, at the Gulf of Mexico. The population was 1,238 at the 2010 census. The town is included in the Mobile metropolitan statistical area. The island was renamed for Louis XIV's great-grandson and heir, the Dauphin. The name of the island is often mistaken as Dolphin Island; dauphin is dolphin in the French language.
The Gulf of Mexico is to the south of the island; the Mississippi Sound and Mobile Bay are to the north. The island's eastern end helps define the mouth of Mobile Bay. The eastern, wider portion of the island is shaded by thick stands of pine trees, but the narrow, western part of the island features scrub growth and few trees.

Gulf of Mexico
The Gulf of Mexico (Spanish: Golfo de México) is an ocean basin largely surrounded by the North American continent. It is bounded on the northeast, north, and northwest by the Gulf Coast of the United States, on the southwest and south by Mexico, and on the southeast by Cuba. The U.S. states of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida border the Gulf on the north. In Texas and Louisiana, the Gulf Coast it is often referred to as the Third Coast in comparison with the U.S. Atlantic and Pacific coasts.
The Gulf of Mexico formed approximately 300 million years ago as a result of plate tectonics. The Gulf's basin is roughly oval and is approximately 810 nautical miles (1,500 km) wide and floored by sedimentary rocks and recent sediments. It is connected to part of the Atlantic Ocean through the Florida Straits between the U.S. and Cuba, and with the Caribbean Sea (with which it forms the American Mediterranean Sea) via the Yucatan Channel between Mexico and Cuba. With the narrow connection to the Atlantic, the Gulf experiences very small tidal ranges. The size of the Gulf basin is approximately 615,000 mi² (1.6 million km²). Almost half of the basin is shallow continental shelf waters. The basin contains a volume of roughly 660 quadrillion gallons (2.5 × 106 km3).

SUMMARY
=======
Mobile was founded as the capital of colonial French Louisiana in 1702 and remained a part of New France for over 60 years. During 1720, when France warred with Spain, Mobile was on the battlefront, so the capital moved west to Biloxi. In 1763, Britain took control of the colony following their victory in the Seven Years War. Following the American Revolutionary War, Mobile did not become a part of the United States, as it was part of territory captured by Spain from Great Britain in 1780.
Mobile first became a part of the United States in 1813, when it was captured by American forces and added to the Mississippi Territory, then later re-zoned into the Alabama Territory in August 1817. Finally on December 14, 1819, Mobile became part of the new 22nd state, Alabama, one of the earlier states of the U.S. Forty-one years later, Alabama left the Union and joined the Confederate States of America in 1861. It returned in 1865 after the American Civil War.
Mobile had spent decades as French, then British, then Spanish, then American, spanning 160 years, up to the Civil War.

The one that lights up will drop some 28 stories December 31 close to midnight. If you head out to the show, you can get a taste of the MoonPie at the RSA Battle House Tower.Logistically, we've been working with the city and the police department, they all know exactly what they're supposed to do. The Dauphin Street Police Precinct and Museum is a combination live police station and a police museum. The museum, located across the street from Cathedral Square, has a number of interesting displays.
There is a history of the weapons used over the past 174 years by the department. You will see nightsticks of various types and a Pepper Fog machine. The machine's name says it all - a gasoline engine-powered mechanism that produced an early form of tear gas used mainly primarily for crowd control.

SUMMARY
=======
Louisiana is a state in the Deep South region of the southeastern United States. It is the 31st most extensive and the 25th most populous of the 50 United States. Louisiana is bordered by Arkansas to the north, Mississippi to the east, the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and the state of Texas to the west. A large part of its eastern boundary is demarcated by the Mississippi River. Louisiana is the only U.S. state with political subdivisions termed parishes, which are equivalent to counties. The state's capital is Baton Rouge, and its largest city is New Orleans.
Much of the state's lands were formed from sediment washed down the Mississippi River, leaving enormous deltas and vast areas of coastal marsh and swamp. These contain a rich southern biota; typical examples include birds such as ibis and egrets. There are also many species of tree frogs, and fish such as sturgeon and paddlefish. In more elevated areas, fire is a natural process in the landscape, and has produced extensive areas of longleaf pine forest and wet savannas. These support an exceptionally large number of plant species, including many species of terrestrial orchids and carnivorous plants. Louisiana has more Native American tribes than any other southern state, including four that are federally recognized, ten that are state recognized, and four that have not received recognition.Some Louisiana urban environments have a multicultural, multilingual heritage, being so strongly influenced by a mixture of 18th-century French, Haitian, Spanish, Native American, and African cultures that they are considered to be exceptional in the US. Before the American purchase of the territory in 1803, present-day Louisiana State had been both a French colony and for a brief period a Spanish one. In addition, colonists imported numerous African people as slaves in the 18th century. Many came from peoples of the same region of West Africa, thus concentrating their culture. In the post-Civil War environment, Anglo-Americans increased the pressure for Anglicization, and in 1921, English was for a time made the sole language of instruction in Louisiana schools before a policy of multilingualism was revived in 1974. There has never been an official language in Louisiana, and the state constitution enumerates the right of the people to preserve, foster, and promote their respective historic, lingu ...

SUMMARY
=======
The Alabama State Capitol, listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the First Confederate Capitol, is the state capitol building for Alabama. It is located on Capitol Hill, originally Goat Hill, in Montgomery. It was declared a National Historic Landmark on December 19, 1960.Alabama has had five political capitals during its history. The first was the territorial capital in St. Stephens in 1817, followed by the state convention in Huntsville in 1819, then the first permanent capital in Cahaba in 1820. It was then moved to Tuscaloosa in 1826, until coming to rest in Montgomery in 1846. The current structure is the state's fourth purpose-built capitol building, with the first at Cahaba, the second at Tuscaloosa, and the last two in Montgomery. The first capitol building in Montgomery, located where the current building stands, burned after only two years. The current building was completed in 1851, although additional wings were added over the course of the following 140 years.The current capitol building temporarily served as the Confederate Capitol while Montgomery served as the first political capital of the Confederate States of America in 1861, before being moved to Richmond, Virginia. Meeting in the Senate Chamber, the Provisional Constitution of the Confederate States was drawn up by the Montgomery Convention on February 4, 1861. The convention also adopted the Permanent Constitution here on March 11, 1861. Over one hundred years later the third Selma to Montgomery march ended at the front marble staircase of the Capitol, with the marches and events surrounding them directly leading to the Voting Rights Act of 1965.Architecturally, the building is Greek Revival in style with some Beaux-Arts influences. The central core of the building, as well as the east wing to the rear of the structure, is three-stories over a below-grade basement. The north and south wings are two-stories over a raised basement. The front facade that is seen today is approximately 350 feet (110 m) wide and 119 feet (36 m) tall from ground level to the top of the lantern on the dome.
