Family Holidays in Great Lake Taupo - Kereopa Video Diaries Ep 8
Raglan-based international surfer, Daniel Kereopa, and his family (partner Renee, 10 yr old daughter Nia and 12 yr old son Cabe) came back to the Great Lake Taupo region and this time they brought fellow surfers, and family friends, John Armstrong, Penelope Strictland and their daughter, Malaika, with them.
The families kicked off their weekend with a lovely visit to Taupo’s weekly Saturday Riverside Market where they sampled lots of regional produce and even learned a little bit about alpaca wool spinning.
They then spent most of their time around the Wairakei Tourist Park, enjoying all the family-fun activities available in the area. The fun started at the Big Rock Family Fun Park where they got lost in the giant maze and had a ball of a time zorbing - nothing like charging at each other in a big round bubble!
Malaika loved prawn fishing, especially when Nia managed to catch a huge green prawn at Huka Prawn Park! A ride on the Hukafalls Jet next door is a thrilling way to check out the mighty Huka Falls up close. Did you know that Huka Falls is the most visited natural attraction in New Zealand?
To top off their weekend, the families took a leap of faith and hurled and swung themselves off a 47-metre high cliff at Taupo Bungy and Cliffhanger. What a natural high!
Both families will be back again to experience the many family-friendly activities available in the Great Lake Taupo region, as this weekend was only the tip of the iceberg.
Check out for more ideas on what to do on your family holiday.

Bully (Bulli) Point Jump, New Zealand
We were told to go to this bulli point on Lake Taupo. Turned out to be pretty fun when we weren't nearly killing ourselves with the high waves, falling off big rocks and breaking rope swings.
Taupo Hukafalls Jet
Lake Taupo Hukafalls Jet Boat. Nothing gets you closer than Huka Falls Jet, a 'Must Do' visitor experience whilst visiting Taupo. Experience the majesty of the HukaFalls from the unique vantage point of the jet boat, the only jet boat company permitted to take you to the base of these mighty falls.
This half hour trip is full of thrills with a big dose of fun thrown in. Slide past trees and cliffs whilst doing an incredible 80km an hour in one of our state of the art jet boats, zoom past sheer rock cliffs and marvel at your closeness to them as your experienced driver zips you down the river. Experience the thrill of our trademark 360 degree spins as the boat turns on its own length leaving your heart pumping and your face beaming. Enjoy the precision and speed of the jet boat as you torpedo down the river, passing clouds of steam, the Huka Prawn Park, the Wairakei Thermal Power Station and the Aratiatia Dam. Be astounded and enthralled as you reach the mighty white water that is the HukaFalls with a flow of more than 220 000 litres of turquoise water per second.

A fun couple of days at Riverglen holiday park in the Coroglen gorge
With a couple days on the coast we headed in land to the riverglen holiday park for a bit of fresh water swimming and a bit more rock hounding. It's a great family place to go for a couple of days and a great place to stay some where central. Hahei, Cathedral cove, Whitianga and Tapu are only 20 odd K's.
A day at Hahei in the salt water only to return to a nice cool dip in the fresh water to wash of that salt. It feels really kiwi.
Boys enjoyed it and the big fresh water hole kept us nice and cool when needed.

Advanced track, but i think it is more on intermediate when comparing it to others in the park. It is a good link track from the popular Billy T track.

The Big JUMP | Bulli Point | Taupo
Bulli Point is the perfect spot in Taupo for a cliff jump. Yes parking is hard and access requires some narrow walk ways its located just off the main road so it is easy to access, This jump is not for the faint hearted with the highest jump being 7 meters.
if you love a thrill then this is the jump for you. if your more like me its also fun to watch.

New Zealand Road Trip (Vlog #1 Rotovegas)
This is a short vlog of a bunch of us going down to Rotorua for a spontaneous weekend away from the big smoke. Didn't get as much footage of everyone as I wanted but we were all having so much fun that we all forgot about photos and shit...somethings those are the best weekends.
Filmed and edited by myself
Music: A$AP Rocky - A$AP Forever REMIX (Audio) ft. Moby, T.I., Kid Cudi
If you want to know more about Rotorua here is some information I got off the web:
Rotorua, a town set on its namesake lake on New Zealand's North Island, is renowned for its geothermal activity and Maori culture. In Te Puia’s Whakarewarewa Valley, there are bubbling mud pools and the 30m-tall Pohutu Geyser, which erupts many times daily. It’s also home to a living Maori village and the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute, with traditional wood carving and weaving schools.
