Blackpool Sands Dartmouth South Devon
Blackpool Sands is a beach in Dartmouth, Devon, England named after the nearby village of Blackpool. It has been increasingly encroached on each year since 1933. In 1989 the sea broke the defences, severely damaging seaside properties and threatening the A379 road.

(HD) Dartmouth & Blackpool Sands, South Devon .UK. (Part Two) Tuesday 28th April 2015.
****** Watch in Full Screen in 1080 HD *******
This is Part Two of our visit to South Devon on Tuesday 28th April 2015. We were there because of our Youngest and his Friend had parts as extras on a Film Set at Blackpool Sands in the area. The Beach which is privately owned was used as a location for a forthcoming TV series. We had over 8 Hours free time before they could go Home, So Sharon and myself Filmed Torcross and Start Bay (Video part One) and Dartmouth and Blackpool Sands in this Part Two.
At Dartmouth we partook in a customary Cream Tea at the Railway Restaurant..very nice too. By chance i managed to get some footage of Manor Class 7827 'Lydham Manor' tender-first arriving into Kingswear on the Dartmouth Steam Railway. That was a nice little bonus with all those Boats everywhere !!
The clip approaching Blackpool Sands at 05.55 was taken by Sharon through the rear passenger side Window...bless Her...something 8 Months ago i thought would never happen again. We spent a few Hours at Blackpool Sands even after visiting the other places. So there is a variety of clips at different times. The most amazing ones are at Dusk at 8.30PM .The Panasonic has done a great job here making it look more like normal Daylight. The last two clips were taken at 21.30 in the dark( With the sound of a Power Generator Truck nearby for the Filming) 1) The light of the Floodlights illuminate the Cliffs on the North end of The Beach..magic.
2) Looking out across the Bay to see The Start Bay Lighthouse flashing in the distance...You can just make-out the Cliffs on the right as i pan back..!! What an amazing Camcorder the Panasonic X920 is...it still manages to capture images in almost total darkness...well impressed.!! Hope you enjoy this final video of our trip here....Steve.~.
Filmed on a Panasonic HC X920.

BLACKPOOL SANDS AND DARTMOUTH IN ONE DAY!?!?!!
In March 2017 we were able to visit the beautiful Blackpool Sands in South Devon just a fee miles outside of Dartmouth. The water was a beautiful clear blue, the soft shingle beach surrounded by rolling hills and cliff edges.
Dartmouth is a gorgeous town full of history. Tudor buildings, maritime links, plenty of boats, ferries, view that will take your breath away and great independent stores. Narrow tiled streets and pieces of artwork are scattered around the centre, creating a pleasant welcoming feel as you explore the area.

DARTMOUTH AND THIS ENGLAND
Dartmouth is a historic town in South Devon, England. A tourist destination on the western banks of the River Dart, a long tidal ria navigable for the 12 miles to Totnes. It’s in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, (AONB). Dartmouth was of strategic importance as a deep water port in the days of Sailing Ships. From here the Crusaders departed in 1147 and 1190. Dartmouth has been a “home” for the Royal Navy from the reign of King Edward 3rd. The Royal Naval College where all Royal Navy Officers are trained is still here. To prevent attacks from the sea the estuary of the River Dart was closed every night by a great chain stretched between Dartmouth Castle and Kingswear Castle on the opposite bank – so it was during World War 2! In 1373 Chaucer visited in his “Canterbury Tales”. In 1620 The Pilgrim Fathers sailed in here to the town’s Bayard’s Cove en route to America – the rest is history! Dartmouth contains many medieval streetscapes and historic buildings. The Royal Castle Hotel 1639. The Cherub Pub 1380. Dartmouth featured in the defeat of the Spanish Armada. “Greenway” the home of Sir Francis Drake - in the 20th. Century became the home of Novelist Dame Agatha Christie.

Description
Blackpool Sands
Our first Devon beach video! Blackpool Sands is on the south coast of Devon set in a sheltered bay and is one of South Devon's most beautiful natural treasures. An award-winning, privately managed 'Blue Flag' family beach with turquoise blue sea giving it an almost Mediterranean feel.
A shingle beach, as are all the main beaches in Start Bay and all incorporating ‘Sands’ as a historical name, is located only 3 miles West of Dartmouth on the beautiful South Devon heritage coast. With sand pits, a bathing raft, kayaks and paddle boards for hire, a range of delicious hot and cold food and a beach shop, it has something for all the family. But don't just take our word for it, come and see for yourself!
