Paso Robles Wine Festival 2013
It's a little late (and I have even more!) but here is a video excerpt of the fun we had at the Paso Robles Wine Festival on May 18. Lots of wine (of course), and lots of fun!

PharaohMoans | Paso Robles | 2012 Syrah and Grenache
At Ma(i)sonry Napa Valley, we strive to bring you a curated selection of wines that best represents the premier winegrowing regions in the world – Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast, Malbec from Mendoza, and Cabernet Sauvignons and Bordeaux-Blends from Napa Valley. In our quest for finding the best Syrah and Grenache, we immediately turned to the region that has established its reputation as the best source of wines made from these Rhone varieties: Paso Robles. We are thrilled to announce the addition of our newest vintner partner, PharaohMoans, an artisan producer of outstanding Grenache and Syrah from Paso Robles. PharaohMoans and their winemaker, Guillaume Fabre, have been producing several hundred cases of wine per vintage for a number of years and have consistently received some of the highest ratings in the state for their wines, which exemplify the one of a kind terroir and style that Paso Robles has become known for producing.

Cork Dorks Tour James Berry Vineyards At Saxum Vineyards
Met up with Justin Smith of Saxum Vineyards for an episode of the wine show I host called The Cork Dorks on The Krush 92.5. Saxum Vineyards was launched to the next level when their already acclaimed wines scored a perfect 100 points by Robert Parker for his 2007 James Berry Vineyard Rhone Blend. The same bottle was awarded #1 of the Top 100 by Wine Spectator about 6 months later. Since then, the wines are in high demand, with a 5 year waiting list to get on the wine club.
With the new caves, Justin is going from an 1,800 sq feet cellar/barrel room to a more than 13,000 state of the art gravity fed facility. Justin says this will improve the quality of the wine even more, and will allow for comfortable increases in case production.
Justin drove us on a Kubota through the famed James Berry Vineyards, as well as the new caves still under construction. I will post the link soon of the entire episode.

Part 1 of 2, Wine Weirdos Christopher, Mike, and Tom try out three French white wines purchased at Trader Joe's just to see what that country's currently pumping out in the way of budget priced juice.
