Let's go check out #Ljubljana #Piran and #LakePlitvice
►Ljubljana is Slovenia's capital and largest city. It's known for its university population and green spaces, including expansive Tivoli Park. The curving Ljubljanica River, lined in outdoor cafes, divides the city's old town from its commercial hub. Ljubljana has many museums, including the National Museum of Slovenia, displaying historic exhibitions, and the Museum of Modern Art, home to 20th-century Slovene paintings and sculptures.
►Piran is a resort city on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast, known for its long pier and Venetian architecture. Tartini Square is flanked by the Gothic red Venetian House and the frescoed Tartini House. The latter is the birthplace of violinist Giuseppe Tartini. The 19th-century town hall has a stone lion, a symbol of the former Republic of Venice. St. George’s Cathedral, nearby, has 17th-century paintings and marble altars.
►Plitvice Lakes National Park (Croatian: Nacionalni park Plitvička jezera, colloquially Plitvice, pronounced [plîtʋitse]) is one of the oldest and largest national parks in Croatia.[2] In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register.[3]
The national park was founded in 1949 and is in the mountainous karst area of central Croatia, at the border to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The important north–south road that passes through the national park area connects the Croatian inland with the Adriatic coastal region.
The protected area extends over 296.85 square kilometres (73,350 acres). About 90% of this area is part of Lika-Senj County, while the remaining 10% is part of Karlovac County.
Each year, more than 1 million visitors are recorded.[4][1] Entrance is subject to variable charges, up to 250 kuna or around €34 per adult per day in summer 2018.
57 Days as an Erasmus Nursing Student in Slovenia
Thanks to 3rd year UWS Adult Nursing student Emily Gilli, who shared this great video with us, the self-explanatory 57 days of being an Erasmus nursing student in Slovenia.
Emily was on placement at the emergency department in Kranj, Slovenia, and said about her film: Thanks to everyone that helped me with it. Thinking of something to film every day is harder than it sounds!

PREMIUM EXPEDITION NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC NATURA 2020
Premium trekking geographical expedition NATURA 2020
The premium trekking geographical guided green journey to the world of ancient times NATURA 2020 is begun with a first-class expedition inspiration through the magnificent Šumik Virgin Forest, where gnomes and demons live, where deer is the kings of animals, where we are welcomed by the song of a capercaillie.
A special expedition will also be made to a part of the largest peat bog in Pohorje, i.e. Lovrenc Lakes, where, according to folk traditions, the underwater man Jezernik hides between planes and lakes.
The Meranovo estate was admired by the Archduke John, the grandson of the Empress Maria Theresa, and thus the geographical exploration expedition will take a guided tour of the Prince's summit.
From the base camp Ruše, we will enter the Pohorje underground, where the enchanted Pohorje Sleeping Beauty reigns in the under-Pohorje wine path and descendant of the oldest 400-year-old vine in the world; we will also visit the University of Maribor Botanic Garden where 15,000 plants grow, of which 2,020 are of different species.
Simply - intensively, we will discover the famous Pohorje swamp, glažute and Pohorje glass, the fascinating Black Lake, the unique Fram waterfall; we will visit Grand and Small Šumik waterfalls over the longest Slovenian mountain footbridge and the Verna waterfall; we will cross the canyon of the Lobnica river over the hanging bridge, go to Bistriški Vintgar, the place where the thickest Marolt fir in our country, with the diameter of 605 cm, grew, there is also the Roman quarry; on the top of Pohorje we will eat Pohorje stew and, as a dessert, Pohorje pancakes or even the original Pohorje omelette; perhaps we will experience rafting along the green Drava, cross the first Drava Hydroelectric Power Station Fala and return to the base past the Fala and Viltuš castles.
Since the geographical fairy tale NATURA 2020 is the gift of the world, you will discover the infinite goodness/beauty/transmission of the inexhaustible nature of the heavenly edge of the eastern Alps in three days.

Trees: Wollemi Pine (Wollemia nobilis) Worlds Rarest Tree.
Wollemia nobilis, Australia's Phoenix trees, the worlds rarest tree found in Australia 20 years ago. The Wollemi pine is classified as Critically Endangered (CR) on the IUCN's Red List, and is legally protected in Australia.
Discovered by David Noble, a field officer of the Wollemi National Park in Blackheath, in the Blue Mountains, Australia.
A Recovery Plan has been drawn up, outlining strategies for the management of this fragile population; the overall objective is to ensure that this species remains viable in the long-term.
In both botanical and popular literature the tree has been almost universally referred to as the Wollemi pine, although it is not a true pine (genus Pinus) nor a member of the pine family (Pinaceae), but rather is related to Agathis and Araucaria in the family Araucariaceae. The oldest fossil of the Wollemi tree has been dated to 200 million years ago.

Graz was the sole Cultural Capital of Europe of 2003 and became a City of Culinary Delights in 2008.

SUMMARY
=======
Ljubljana (Slovene: [ljuˈbljàːna] (listen), locally also [luˈblàːna]; also known by other, historical names) is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It has been the cultural, educational, economic, political, and administrative centre of independent Slovenia since 1991.
During antiquity, a Roman city called Emona stood in the area. Ljubljana itself was first mentioned in the first half of the 12th century. Situated at the middle of a trade route between the northern Adriatic Sea and the Danube region, it was the historical capital of Carniola, one of the Slovene-inhabited parts of the Habsburg Monarchy. It was under Habsburg rule from the Middle Ages until the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918. After World War II, Ljubljana became the capital of the Socialist Republic of Slovenia, part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. It retained this status until Slovenia became independent in 1991 and Ljubljana became the capital of the newly formed state.
