The water is actually quite clear, but the lake has a brown appearance due to the decay of the continual dropping of the tea tree leaves from the trees surrounding the lake.

We head off to our favourite place on Earth for a 9 day camping trip - North Stradbroke Island!
Join us as we show our Cousin Sara why Straddie is so special! Nothing gets the heart beating like jumping off the jetty into shark infested waters, or driving in the soft sand of Straddie's beautiful beaches! We go on some truly amazing walks, and spot dolphins, turtles and manta rays from the cliffs at Point Lookout. You can't camp at Straddie without spending a day at Brown Lake, a huge body of tea tree stained water that is perfect for cooling off. It's here that we also have a close encounter with a huge goanna! We finish off the amazing trip by counting down to the New Year, and watching an amazing fireworks show. To celebrate 2017, we carve a massive sign into the beach at Point Lookout for everyone to see... Oh and we capture the whole experience with our drone, including some of the most amazing footage to date!

I'm Bel by the way, with my 3 boys - Castiel, Cary and Pat, the latter being my husband.

Our first family camping trip at Straddie. So much fun with camping, fishing, snorkeling, swimming, cliff diving, bush walking. We've done it all. The kids loved it! Can't wait to go back again.

North Stradbroke Island Day Trip
We will leave busy Brizzy for a full-day tour that showcases the natural beauty of North Stradbroke Island. Sitting across the sparkling expanse of Moreton Bay, the island is the second largest sand island on the planet, and boasts a mixture of pristine beaches, rugged coastlines, and fresh water lakes.
We disembark the barge at Dunwich heading for our first stop at Brown Lake (It was closed :( ), a pure rainwater lake tinged brown by the native teatrees. We will have a BBQ lunch and then take a leisurely walk around the scenic headlands of North and South Gorge to view marine animals and go in search of the island’s population of wild kangaroos. After that we will see Main Beach Headland Reserve and Point Lookout Surf Life Saving Club, making our way to the golden sands to laze on the beach and/or swim in the surf.
