Descending the Brusio spiral viaduct _ Viadotto elicoidale di Brusio
The Brusio spiral viaduct (or Brusio circular viaduct; Italian: Viadotto elicoidale di Brusio, German: Kreisviadukt Brusio) is a single track nine-arched stone spiral railway viaduct.
A signature structure of the World Heritage-listed Bernina Railway, it is located in Brusio, in the Canton of Graubünden, Switzerland, and serves only to adjust the railway's altitude.
The Brusio spiral viaduct forms part of the Bernina Railway section between Brusio and Campascio, and is approximately 55 kilometres (34 mi) from St. Moritz.
The stone-built viaduct was opened on 1 July 1908, upon the opening of the Tirano--Poschiavo section of the Bernina Railway. In 1943, the whole of that railway company was taken over by the Rhaetian Railway, which still owns and uses the spiral viaduct today.

Bernina Express - Brusio Spiral Viaduct - Switzerland ????????
The Brusio spiral viaduct, some say “Brusio circular viaduct”, is a single-track nine-arched stone spiral railway viaduct. It is located near Brusio, Switzerland, and was opened on 1 July 1908. The Brusio spiral viaduct is a part of the Bernina Railway. Normally, you would think, that this model railway layout was made by Swiss model railroaders.
Switzerland: Bernina Railway Circular Viaduct, Brusio
The Circular or spiral viaduct is situated on the Bernina Railway, between Brusio and Campascio, and is approximately 55 kilometres (34 mi) from St. Moritz.
It opened on 1 July 1908, upon the opening of the Tirano--Poschiavo section of the Bernina Railway
The spiral viaduct is 110 metres (360 ft) long, has a horizontal radius of curvature of 70 metres (230 ft), a longitudinal slope of 7%, and is made up of nine spans, each 10 metres (33 ft) in length.
It is known as Viadotto elicoidale di Brusio in Italian & Kreisviadukt Brusio in German

A signature structure of the World Heritage-listed Bernina railway, it is located near Brusio, in the Canton of Graubünden, Switzerland, and was built to limit the railway's gradient at that location within its specified maximum of 7%. The Brusio spiral viaduct forms part of the Bernina Railway section between Brusio and Campascio. It is just south of Brusio, and approximately 54 kilometres (34 mi) from St. Moritz. The viaduct was opened on 1 July 1908, upon the opening of the Tirano–Poschiavo section of the Bernina Railway.
A spiral viaduct was required immediately south of Brusio to limit the railway's grade to the required maximum of 7%, so the train would not slip on the way up, or be uncontrollable on the way down. Geological factors prevented the boring of the spiral tunnel that had originally been planned. Engineers therefore decided to construct on the valley floor a 360 degree curve with a 50 to 70 m (160 to 230 ft) radius, and the viaduct forms part of that curve. In 1943, the whole of the Bernina Railway was taken over by the Rhaetian Railway, which still owns and uses the spiral viaduct today.

Ascending the Brusio spiral viaduct .
The train needed to bridge a considerable difference in altitude in a very short distance. The ride began in St. Moritz (1,775 m.a.s.l.), crossed the Bernina Pass (2,253 m.a.s.l.) and winds up in Tirano (429 m.a.s.l.). And since it was a train built specifically for tourists who wanted to see the lovely landscape, the train had to go through as few tunnels as possible. But the solution they came up with was quite ingenious: rather than use switchback tunnels, the train uses switchback viaducts that have have a diameter of 100 meters. Train passengers are usually in awe over this engineering feat.
