Buddha Park (aka Xieng Khuan) is a famous sculpture park with more than 200 religious statues including a huge 40-metre high reclining Buddha image.
The best spot for photography here is on top of the giant pumpkin structure standing about three stories high. The entrance is crafted to look like a demon’s mouth (about three metres high) with a stone ladder inside leading to a bird's eye view of the entire Xieng Kuan Park.

Buddha Park Highlights สวนพระ
It was built in 1958 by Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat, a monk who studied both Buddhism and Hinduism. This explains why his park is full not only of Buddha images but also of Hindu gods as well as demons and animals from both beliefs.
The most outstanding ones include Indra, the king of Hindu gods riding the three-headed elephant (aka Erawan and Airavata), a four-armed deity sitting on a horse and an artistic deity with 12 faces and many hands, each holding interesting objects. They are all equally impressive not only because of their enormous size but because they are full of interesting details and interesting motifs.
There is a local eatery and café offering food and drinks to tourists at one end of the park right next to the Mekong River that makes a great spot to chill after all the walking and climbing. Among the popular snacks are papaya salad, fried bananas and cold Lao beer. It also has a souvenir shop and restrooms. There is a small fee for entering the park as well as for photography.

The Buddha Park, Vientiane, Laos [South East Asia Vlog #45]
On our first day in Vientiane, we visited the Buddha Park. It's +/- 20 KM away from the city center. The park is a tourist attraction, but the statues are really beautiful. We were very impressed!
You can go there by public transport or do as we did, hire a minivan from your hotel.

Hi, I am Eileen from Belgium, nice to meet you. I started this channel two years ago but was not updating on a regular basis. After making some videos for friends and family, I realized this is something I love to do. I got inspired by some of my favorite YouTube channels such as Travellight, Kara & Nate, The Way Away and the Bucketlist Family. I accepted the challenge to visit all Belgian municipalities and because I love to travel, I do it as often as possible. I just got back from one month in Asia and the next trip is already booked!

Buddha Park - Vientiane, Laos
Today we visited the Buddha Park (Xieng Khuan) in Vientiane, Laos. It's an awesome collection of concrete statues and gardens about half an hour out of Vientiane.
Vientiane is the capital of Laos but doesn't have a lot for the average tourist though you could easily spend a week or more spending time chilling in Cafe's drinking coffee.

Buddha Park, Vientiane Laos
Buddha Park, although it, is not a temple, the park may be referred to as Wat Xieng Khuan (ວັດຊຽງຄວນ), since it contains numerous religious images. The name Xieng Khuan means Spirit City. The park contains over 200 Hindu and Buddhist statues. The park was started in 1958 by Luang Pu Bunleua Sulilat. Luang Pu was a priest-shaman who integrated Hinduism and Buddhism. The statues are made of reinforced concrete and are ornate and sometimes bizarre and weir in design. There are sculptures of humans, gods, animals, and demons. One notable sculpture resembles a giant pumpkin. It has three stories representing three levels: Hell, Earth, and Heaven. Visitors can enter through an opening which is the mouth of a 3-meter-tall demon head (9.8 ft) and climb staircases from hell to heaven. Each story contains sculptures depicting the level. At the top, there is a vantage point where the entire park is visible. It's an awesome view from the top.
