House of the Virgin Mary | Turkey 2018
House of the Virgin Mary in which she lived from the will of Jesus to her death. The house is located on the mountain Bulbul, 9 km from the ancient city of Efes (Turkey). The building dates back to the 6th and 7th centuries of the new era, and the foundations of the building dating back to the 1st century AD. The whole house is made of stone. The original two-story building consisted of a lobby, a bedroom and a prayer room, as well as rooms with a fireplace. The interior of the house is in the shape of the letter T. There is an altar with the image of Mary.
The Virgin Mary's house is surrounded by trees. The whole region is quite quiet, even when thousands of voyagers visit it.
A few meters down the slope is a spring with slightly salty water, but a pit. There are three fountains and one more, several meters away. The first fountain is believed to be water for health. Here, many guilders come for healing. Many went through drinking water from this source, and their crates were inside the house. The second fountain is for love, and the third is for work. For the fourth, it is believed that for the disbelievers, but the believers use water from this fountain. A bit further there is a wall with messages. Pilgrims from all over the world leave signs, most often on handkerchiefs.
Certainly a place to be sure to visit if you decide to go to Ephesus.
We fell in love with lazy, small-town Foca & delighted in art, food, pampering energy and detail in Bulbul Yuvasi Otel. Selma, hubby, and her loving staff wrapped us up in luxury and indulged us in love, attention, relaxation and calmness around Foca and Bulbul Yuvasi. We slowly lingered over a homemade breakfast buffet. Got lost in the decor and aora of Bulbul Yuvasi Hotel. Explored the breezy, lazy paths of Foca. Enjoyed the slow marina. Thank you Bulbul Yuvasi for having us. We love you!!!!! - created at
