Whisky Tastings/Review:Port Ellen 32 Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky from Douglas Laing Video Review
Now, this was an extravagant present from me to me... but holy wow it was worth it. Come see what I thought of this super special release from Independent Bottlers Douglas Laing.... they describe this whisky as:
Douglas Laing's XOP (Xtra Old Particular) is the best of the best from the Douglas Laing family vaults. This range of rare aged Single Malt and Single Grain Scotch Whiskies is bottled exactly the way the distiller intended: without colouring or chill-filtration, and at cask strength.
This particular bottling, a Port Ellen 32 Years Old, is a rare find from the closed distillery. It's elegantly old-Islay on the nose, whilst the palate and finish display welcome hints of tobacco, vanilla fudge and damp earth. The finish shows a smoky style with a leather and salty tang and a touch of dark chocolate and charred oak.

UM! Whisky Tour #72: Bruichladdich
The Broon Borthers Amazing Islay Challenge finally comes to an end here at Bruichladdich, which we barely have time to visit at all which is a real shame considering it was their Feis Ile festival open day! 25 minutes was all we could manage before making our way back to the ferry terminal at Port Askaig, so no time for a tour and barely even time for a dram (we filled a hipflask of Bruichladdich Waves) and then we were off... back to the mainland to indulge in our splendid haul... Jolly good trip, I doubted we'd have the time to see everything, but we just about did. Still, plenty to see on a repeat trip... tours at Bunnahabhain, Bruichladdich and Caol Ila... maybe even Jura distillery. Would also love to see the new Port Charlotte distillery up and running again, but that's all for now, except a nice wee tasting of the Bruichladdich Ancien Regime which is tagged on to the end of this feature... coming soon: Gogsie's Campbeltown Ex-dram-aganza!!!!!!!
