This is about 25 minutes from my house.
Some good aerials and good shots of the bird creek. I was careful not to disturb them but I think I freaked a couple out. Sorry.

Bobcat Sighting - Burnaby Lake 1/4/18 British Columbia. Vancouver Canada ducks birdwatching birding
Jump to 1:05 if you want to see the bobcat with no delay.
It was just a cloudy Thursday afternoon. I was there birding there, hoping to see something a bit more unusual than mallards, wood ducks, and Canada geese, but I never expected this. Throughout the time I was there, there were about 20 people milling about or feeding the birds until there was a lull of visitors and I was out on the walkway with just 2 other people (who actually walked past it on their way out without giving it much thought lol).
First, crows were flying above going crazy, then the geese were flying in and out. I started videotaping the commotion with my cellphone before I knew what was causing it. When I finally swiveled around far enough to see it, I felt a crazy thrill and, I admit, some fear, not believing my eyes... which just sent the message to my brain... CAT... STRIPES... WTF!!!! Though it looked to be only about knee high, my heart still raced... Well, I tried to breathe more slowly and not drop my phone as I began to take pictures with my camera, which had already been turned on. Due to the lighting and distance, they were not stellar shots (one is the thumbnail for this video) but a good memento of the experience to make me believe my eyes.
I wondered if I should take a video or pictures... as I was sure it had only come out to grab one of the ducks. I just kept taking pictures and it sat where this video ends a few minutes before disappearing back under the walkway. I walked back in a bit to warn some people bringing in 2 little kids and saw it dart into the cattails from under the walkway.
I waited to share this video as I did not want to deluge the park with more visitors than it usually gets. While not completely unheard of in the area, they are still an uncommon enough occurrence to cause a commotion when one is reported.

Black Bear At Burnaby Lake Destroying Bird House
It was interesting to watch his black bear at Burnaby Lake but I felt sorry for the nesting birds that were in the bird houses. Next year they should use taller and wider poles for the bird houses. This video was taken on June 25 2016 in Burnaby B.C. Canada.

In fact, Burnaby, a suburb of Vancouver, is also a tourist destination and a great place for people to relax.
