Bridge of Love in Ljubljana - Slovenia.
The Butcher's Bridge is the Ljubljana Bridge of Love. Innumerable lovers locked their love on the locks and locked their keys into the Ljubljanica river running under it.
The butcher's bridge, built in 2010, connects Plečnik's market and the Petkovšek Quay and stands in the place where architect Jože Plečnik anticipated construction of the bridge almost 100 years ago. His design is partly artistic, since the bridge is marked by the sculptures of the renowned Slovenian sculptor James Brdar.
Since the bridge is placed in the center of the former butcher's holes in the market, sculptures in their own way tell this story. Smaller sculptures of tiny deformed creatures on the fence bridge are also interesting. On the Petkovskoye embankment, the bridge is marked by a large statue of Prometheus, and the miniatures on the fence wink at the market vices.
The contradiction between the infamous Brdar sculptures and the locks of love is in fact one of the most unique among the many romantic stories of Ljubljana.

“Celtic Odyssey” by SuZannah Bee ???? - filmed on the river Ljubljanica in Slovenia ????????
Suzannah Bee & Matt Larsson
Download music on iTunes at “Celtic Odyssey” is a mix of contemporary and conventional classical music with a strong Celtic theme with strings, violins, classical guitar and piano.
It is a fully orchestrated work.. I wrote, arranged, recorded and played all the instruments in this piece. The video is of a boat trip I went on in Ljubljana (the capital of Slovenia). It was a beautiful, peaceful and serene boat trip during which I had the pleasure of viewing the famous Triple Bridge (3 bridges set close together), the Butcher’s Bridge where there are hundreds of padlocks of love (lovers attach padlocks to the Butcher’s bridge and throw the key in the river as a symbol of eternal love) and the Dragon Bridge which has four green dragons ???? on it - two on one end of the bridge and two on the other end.
How Expensive Is Ljubljana Slovenia | Is Slovenia Safe?
Hey you guys! Curious to know how expensive it is in Ljubljana, Slovenia? And whether or not it is safe there? In this Ljubljana travel vlog, April and I answer those questions whilst experiencing some of the top things to do in Ljubljana. We also address where to stay in Ljubljana--which, for us, was in an old prison, now Hostel Celica! We visited Ljubljana's Dragon Bridge and Triple Bridge. We wandered some around Metelkova, right next door to Hostel Celica. And we address where to eat in Ljubljana--we ate a traditional Slovenian meal at Gostilna Sokol for dinner and the next morning, breakfast at Slovenian House. It wouldn't be a typical adventure if April didn't eat some ice cream, and in Ljubljana, she found refreshing sorbet at Vigo. Please share our video with a friend, and like always, thank you for living life! ????

What to visit in Ljubljana , Slovenia - Top 10 places
Looking out from the airplanes window I could see the mountains breaking through the clouds, I was eager to arrive and learn more about Slovenia.
Ljubljana is a great place to start your journey in Slovenia. It's the capital and largest city of Slovenia. Ljubljanca River divides the city's old town from its commercial hub and holds many beautiful bridges. Ljubljana has many museums, a vibrant feeling with many tourists, great places to eat, drink and a really cool architecture.
Everything is at a walking distance and really easy to get around. I took a shuttle from the airport to Prešeren Square which is a 30-40 min ride from the airport and it costs 9 Euro's. The shuttle leaves as soon as has at least 4-5 passengers, otherwise another option is to take the bus which leaves every hour from the airport and costs only 4 Euro's.
Prešeren Square
Right at Prešeren Square you have the Franciscan church, a great view over the Triple Bridge and the tower of Ljubljana Castle. As soon as you cross the the Triple Bridge you arrive to the Robba Fountain, a marble-&-limestone 18th-century fountain with an obelisk, pool & 3 sculpted figures holding jugs.
Walking along the streets you can hear a predominantly German and Italian tourists which gives you the impression that you are not even in Slovenia.
Ljubljana Castle
Walking from the square to the Ljubljana Castle is a great experience, pedestrian streets and great terraces where you can have some good food and good beer. Talking about food, I found the Slovenian food close to the Romanian and Hungarian dishes. A great bone marrow butter for starter, a nice deer goulash with bread dumplings, Kremšnita cream cake will never disappoint. Among others you can opt for great stews, brilliant burgers, sausage and a mix grill.
Ljubljana Castle offers a great view over the city and the surrounding mountains, great history and legends about the local dragons. The entrance to the tower and the museum cost 7 Euro's, but it totally worth getting it.
Metelkova Street
Walking back from the Ljubljana Castle a great visit is the Central market with fresh fruits, vegetables and others. Just next to the central market you can cross Lubljana's river via the Butchers Bridge where couples put padlocks to prove their love to each-other. Ljubljana Cathedral is also a great place to visit, a Roman Catholic cathedral with a baroque interior, including gilded columns & ceiling frescoes. As soon as you walk near these places you head towards the Dragon Bridge and just after a 10 minutes walk you arrive to Metelkova Street which holds many weird and cool graffiti. You will find many retro, hippie bars, pubs, places to eat and a cultural divers mix of people.
Just about enough to visit in a day in a relaxing pace.
I've found Dragos by the end of the day, we quickly had some great traditional food and went to the bus station to go to our next destination, Bled. You can get a bus from Ljubljana to Bled, it's only a 50 min ride and it costs 4.10 Euro's.
Here is a video from my 1st day in Slovenia, exploring some great places in Ljubljana - enjoy the ride with me.

Ljubljana Travel Guide - Slovenian Memorable Moments
Ljubljana Travel Guide - Slovenian Memorable Moments
Ljubljana has no world-famous attractions, which is just great: there's no need to hop from one place to another, taking photos and crossing the items on your checklist. You have all the time to stroll around and enjoy the city itself. In the summer, its center hosts a number of city sponsored events, from children workshops and public playgrounds on the streets that get closed for traffic for the occasion, to Trnfest's off-beat street performances and musical events of all genres. In autumn it shows its academic face as it fills again by students of the state's largest university to whom the city owes much of its youthful character. Cold December days are warmed by thousand of lights, the new year's decoration conceived by local artists, and by food and drinks sold from street stands on the banks of Ljubljanica river. After surviving the boring gray remaining of winter, the city erupts again with spring flowers planted on its streets and crossroads.
Ljubljana (lyoob-lyAH-nah) is a charming city full of artists, museums, and galleries. With a population of 300,000, it is one of the smallest capital cities in Europe. The Ljubljanica river flows through the center of town, past Baroque buildings and under the ramparts of the ancient castle on the hill. The new city and modern-day commercial core lies to the west of the river, while the old city and the castle are located on the east side of the river. Many bridges cross the river, the most famous of which is Tromostovje (Triple Bridge), designed by architect Jože Plečnik.
The center of Ljubljana is small enough to cover on foot. You can pick up a free city map at a tourist information center or in the train station. Navigating or finding a street is easy as streets are clearly marked. Bikes are available for rent at the Slovenian Tourist Information Center (beside the Central Market) as well as some of the hotels in the area (€1 for 2 hours, €5 for the whole day ending 7~9pm depending on season). The city's transportation authority LPP operates 26 bus lines, which are clean and run frequently (every 5-10 minutes, 15-30 minutes during the weekend and summer). Most bus routes operate 5am - 10.30pm (Sundays from 6am).
Downtown Ljubljana is full of trendy cafes (outdoor seating in the summer!) and high-quality restaurants. You can find local Slovenian food, and restaurants with ethnic food from many places around the world. Pizza in Ljubljana is of very good quality. Try a burger Slovene style with a horse burger at the Hot Horse! Cheap and good for returning from a night out.
Ljubljana has several good nightclubs (discotheques). The clubs hold special events, they will play a certain syle of music on certain nights, etc. Some will also impose a strict dress code and age limits. Ljubljana offers several hostels and student homes that function as hostels in the summer.

The river transport on the Ljubljanica and the Sava was the main means of cargo transport to and from the city until the mid-19th century, when railroads were built. Today, the Ljubljanica is used by a number of tourist ships, with wharves under the Butchers' Bridge, at Fish Square, at Court Square, at Breg, at the Poljane Embankment, and elsewhere.
