This is a NON-PROFIT Video - to record the changes to one of the oldest pubs in Caerphilly - The Bowls, which has been pulling pints since before 1825 (and first appears on the national census as an Inn in 1841). Caerphilly Mountain (Mountain Road) - Velothon Wales 2017
This climb has formed part of the Round Britain and previously Milk Race road races.
The average gradient of 9.4% will take its toll!
Out of the town centre, past the railway station and then the short respite of a descent before the main event begins.
It's just you and the road. Nothing to inspire you other than knowing eventually the agony will stop once the summit is reached.
As the road bends left a lay by comes into sight - do you stop for a breather or push on? Slightly easier past the lay-by then the gradient increases as you bend rightwards.
Nearly at the top with a sting in the tail, The gradient increases and via a sharp left-hand turn you are forced up the steepest part of the curve and then, the top is in view, you can ease off as the road levels.
Stop at the lay-by and look north over Caerphilly. Stunning views on a clear day. Take a moment to take it - you've earned it!

This was my first time out with the GoPro Session and only my second ride on the CB500. Video starts coming into Tongwynlais and ends at the top of Caerphilly Mountain. Loads of fun, but so slow I didn't even need to edit the video...
