This day out is so worthwhile from Sao Luis, but brace yourself for the boat ride. Sorry to keep going on about it, and to be fair, I laugh a lot every time I think about it, but maybe not for the weak hearted. The waters are strong and the tide is mischievous. However, if you make the journey, you reap the reward in scenery, views and the sheer pleasure you will have from wondering the streets and admiring the ruins of this once working town. it was so peaceful and unpopulated, even after the boat of tourists arrived. If you're looking for a locals destination, then look no further than this hidden treasure.

São Luís (frequentemente chamado de São Luís do Maranhão) é um município brasileiro e a capital do estado do Maranhão. É a única cidade brasileira fundada por franceses, no dia 8 de setembro de 1612, posteriormente invadida por holandeses e por fim colonizada pelos portugueses. Localiza-se na ilha de Upaon-Açu no Atlântico Sul, entre as baías de São Marcos e São José de Ribamar, no Golfão Maranhense. Em 1621 quando o Brasil foi dividido em duas unidades administrativas — Estado do Maranhão e Estado do Brasil — São Luís foi a capital da primeira unidade administrativa. No ano de 1997 o centro histórico da cidade foi declarado patrimônio cultural da humanidade pela UNESCO.
O Parque Nacional dos Lençóis Maranhenses é uma unidade de conservação brasileira de proteção integral à natureza localizada na região nordeste do estado do Maranhão. O território do parque, com uma área de 156 584 ha, está distribuído pelos municípios de Barreirinhas, Primeira Cruz e Santo Amaro do Maranhão. O parque foi criado com a finalidade precípua de proteger a flora, a fauna e as belezas naturais, existentes no local.
Inserido no bioma costeiro marinho, o parque é um exponente dos ecossistemas de mangue, restinga e dunas, associando ventos fortes e chuvas regulares. Sua grande beleza cênica, aliada aos passeios pelos campos de dunas e à possibilidade de banhar-se nas lagoas, atraem turistas de todo o mundo, que visitam o parque durante o ano inteiro.

Praia do calhau São Luís MA
I'm still kind of new at recording and editing, but hopefully I'll improve over time. This nice Brazilian beach is located in the northeast of Brazil (Nordeste). This place is quite safer than the beach in Copacabana. Having that said, I was advised not to swim on some parts of the beach because the water is considered polluted. There's a street called av litoranea on this beach, it has tons of bars and food stands. What's interesting is that São Luís is considered an island, thus calling it Ilha do Amor.
