Debate: Catholic vs Protestant - Tim Staples vs James White
This debate took place back in 1996.
James White is the director of Alpha and Omega Ministries, a Christian apologetics organization based in Phoenix, Arizona. He is the author of more than twenty books, a professor, an accomplished debater, and an elder of the Phoenix Reformed Baptist Church.
Tim Staples is the Director of Apologetics and Evangelization at Catholic Answers, but he was not always Catholic. Tim was raised a Southern Baptist and later, as an adult, enrolled in Jimmy Swaggart Bible College and became a youth minister in an Assembly of God community. He converted to Catholicism in 1988.

STORYLINE
NATO may activate a second unit to bolster its forces in northern Kosovo to quell tensions between authorities and the Serb minority, officials said on Thursday.
If approved, the second unit would reinforce a German-Austrian infantry battalion reserve force.
The unit, made up of about 550 German soldiers and 150 Austrians, started arriving on Wednesday.
Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008 and more than 70 nations, including the US, support Kosovo''s independence, though it is still not a member of the United Nations.
Serbia, which considers Kosovo the cradle of its statehood and religion, does not recognise Kosovo''s independence.
In addition, Serbs in the northern part of the former province do not recognise the government in Pristina, Kosovo''s capital.
Last month, a policeman was killed after Kosovo tried to take control of two disputed border crossings in northern Kosovo, sparking anger among local Serbs who want the former province to remain part of Serbia.
After Kosovo police withdrew, a mob of Serb militants set one border post ablaze and erected a series of roadblocks.
A diplomat and another official with knowledge of the situation said NATO might deploy a second reserve battalion because of the simmering tensions.
Both officials said the new unit would be Italian-based. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorised to speak to the media.
There are still about 6,000 NATO troops keeping the peace in Kosovo, more than a decade after the war that effectively ended Serbia''s rule over its one-time province.
Kosovo''s authorities, who are primarily ethnic Albanian, wield little authority in northern Kosovo.
Their effort to seize the border posts was an attempt to finally assert authority in a region of Kosovo that still considers itself to be part of Serbia.
On Wednesday, NATO said it has reached a provisional agreement with Serbian officials to remove the roadblocks and open the crossings to normal traffic. But authorities in Kosovo''s capital of Pristina said the deal was unacceptable because they have imposed a ban on imports from Serbia.
Kosovo-Serbs were not enthusiastic either: I don''t think we should ever accept this (the agreement). I''m 65, but cannot remember anything like this. We have no place to go, to leave is the last thing we can do, said Ljubisa Ljokic.
NATO said in a statement late on Wednesday it had agreed to reopen northern Kosovo''s disputed border posts for shipments of food and humanitarian goods from Serbia, but peacekeepers would continue to man the checkpoints throughout mid-September.
It said Serbia would remove roadblocks that stopped NATO troops from reaching its northern bases.
A NATO spokesman said the two crossing points were partly closed again on Thursday, and the military alliance was assessing the situation.
He said only cars and humanitarian goods were allowed to cross into Kosovo''s Serb-run north.

This is my footage of the main battle on September 25-26, 2010 with nearly 1,000 reenactors. I decided to remove the audio because of a chatty crowd and a narrator on loudspeakers, but hopefully the music is a satisfactory replacement. This was filmed from the sidelines.

War in Afganistan
The War in Afghanistan, which began on October 7, 2001 as the U.S. military operation Operation Enduring Freedom, was launched by the United States with the United Kingdom in response to the September 11 attacks. The stated purpose of the invasion was to capture Osama bin Laden, destroy al-Qaeda, and remove the Taliban regime which had provided support and safe harbor to al-Qaeda. The United States' Bush Doctrine stated that, as policy, it would not distinguish between al-Qaeda and nations that harbor them.
Two military operations in Afghanistan seek to establish control over the country. Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) is a United States combat operation involving some coalition partners and currently operating primarily in the eastern and southern parts of the country along the Pakistan border. Approximately 28,300 U.S. troops are in OEF.[2][5][6] The second operation is the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), initially established by the UN Security Council at the end of December 2001 to secure Kabul and its surroundings. NATO assumed control of ISAF in 2003. By January 12, 2009, ISAF had around 55,100 troops from 41 countries, with NATO members providing the core of the force. The United States has approximately 23,300 troops in ISAF.

SUMMARY
=======
The (First) Slovak Republic (Slovak: [Prvá] Slovenská republika), otherwise known as the Slovak State (Slovak: Slovenský štát), was a client state of Nazi Germany which existed between 14 March 1939 and 4 April 1945. It controlled the majority of the territory of present-day Slovakia but without its current southern and eastern parts, which had been ceded to Hungary in 1938. The Republic bordered Germany, constituent parts of Großdeutschland, the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, Poland – and subsequently the General Government (German-occupied remnant of Poland) – along with independent Hungary.
Germany recognized the Slovak State, as did several other states, including the Provisional Government of the Republic of China, the Croatian State, El Salvador, Estonia, Italy, Hungary, Japan, Lithuania, Manchukuo, Mengjiang, Romania, the Soviet Union, Spain, Switzerland and the Vatican City. The majority of the Allies of World War II never recognized the existence of the Slovak Republic. The only exception was the Soviet Union, which nullified its recognition after Slovakia joined the invasion of the USSR in 1941.

SUMMARY
=======
The history of Poland from 1939 to 1945 encompasses primarily the period from the Invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union to the end of World War II. Following the German-Soviet non-aggression pact, Poland was invaded by Nazi Germany on 1 September 1939 and by the Soviet Union on 17 September. The campaigns ended in early October with Germany and the Soviet Union dividing and annexing the whole of Poland. After the Axis attack on the Soviet Union in the summer of 1941, all of Poland was occupied by Germany. Under the two occupations, Polish citizens suffered enormous human and material losses. According to the Institute of National Remembrance estimates, about 5.6 million Polish citizens died as a result of the German occupation and about 150,000 died as a result of the Soviet occupation. The Jews were singled out by the Germans for a quick and total annihilation and about 90% of Polish Jews (close to three million people) were murdered as part of the Holocaust. Jews, Poles, Romani people and prisoners of many other ethnicities were killed en masse at Nazi extermination camps, such as Auschwitz, Treblinka and Sobibór. Ethnic Poles were subjected to both Nazi German and Soviet persecution. The Germans killed an estimated two million ethnic Poles. They had future plans to turn the remaining majority of Poles into slave labor and annihilate those perceived as “undesirable” as part of the wider Generalplan Ost. Ethnic cleansing and massacres of Poles and to a lesser extent Ukrainians were perpetrated in western Ukraine (prewar Polish Kresy) from 1943. The Poles were murdered by Ukrainian nationalists.
In September 1939, the Polish government officials sought refuge in Romania, but their subsequent internment there prevented the intended continuation abroad as the government of Poland. General Władysław Sikorski, a former prime minister, arrived in France, where a replacement Polish Government-in-Exile was soon formed. After the fall of France, the government was evacuated to Britain. The Polish armed forces had been reconstituted and fought alongside the Western Allies in France, Britain and elsewhere. Resistance movement began organizing in Poland in 1939, soon after the invasions. Its largest military component was a part of the Polish Underground State network of organizations and activities and became known as the Home Army. The whole clandestine structure was formally directed by the Government-in-Exile through its delegation resident in Poland. There were also peasant, right-wing, leftist, Jewish and Soviet partisan organizations. Among the failed anti-German uprisings were the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising and the Warsaw Uprising. The aim of the Warsaw Uprising was to prevent domination of Poland by the Soviet Union.
In order to cooperate with the Soviet Union, after Operation Barbarossa an important war ally of the West, Sikorski negotiated in Moscow with Joseph Stalin and they agreed to form a Polish army in the Soviet Union, intended to fight on the Eastern Front alongside the Soviets. The Anders' Army was instead taken to the Middle East and then to Italy. Further efforts to continue the Polish-Soviet cooperation had failed because of disagreements over the borders, the discovery of the Katyn massacre of Polish POWs perpetrated by the Soviets, and the death of General Sikorski. Afterwards, in a process seen by many Poles as a Western betrayal, the Polish Government-in-Exile gradually ceased being a recognized partner in the Allied coalition.
Stalin pursued a strategy of facilitating the formation of a Polish government independent of (and in opposition to) the exile government in London by empowering the Polish communists. Among Polish communist organizations established during the war were the Polish Workers' Party in occupied Poland and the Union of Polish Patriots in Moscow. A new Polish army was formed in the Soviet Union ...
