JB Trip #2: Rocky Basecamp @ AEON Mall Tebrau City | GoPro
The second gym we visited during our trip down to Johor Bahru - the southernmost part of Peninsular Malaysia over the long weekend was Rocky Basecamp at AEON Mall Tebrau City. A number of climbing gyms have been popping up around Johor lately - soon the climbing community around JB and Singaporeans just across the causeway will be spoilt for choice. Unfortunately, the new Camp5 at Paradigm Mall JB wasn't open yet at the time of this trip.
The second Rocky Basecamp to open in Malaysia (the first being at AEON Mall Shah Alam), this one is very much the spiritual successor to Xero Gravity (which shut down its PJ operations in July). It's nicely equipped with a bouldering cave and walls, as well as a top rope wall, lead wall and a regulation speed wall. Upstairs is the 'fun' wall with various top rope routes decked out in different themes, along with a mini Ninja Warrior-esque course. You also get massive, dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows (and it's a very high ceiling) with a view. Again, unfortunately I didn't get much footage here, but it's a fun place to visit for a climb in Johor.

Johor's largest shopping centre Paradigm Mall opens.
Located along the Skudai Highway, Paradigm Mall JB spans more than 2 million sq ft and is just a 20-minute ride from the Woodlands Causeway.
The mall is bigger than Singapore's largest shopping centre VivoCity, which has a gross floor area of 1.5 million sq ft.
Paradigm Mall JB will feature the largest movie theatre in the state operated by Golden Screen Cinemas, premium supermarket Village Grocer as well as department store operator Parkson.
For adrenaline junkies, the mall showcases a 20,000 sq ft ice skating rink, a Camp5 indoor climbing gym and Malaysia's first indoor skate park.
With more than 500 retail lots spread over six floors, some well-known names among the tenants include H&M, Uniqlo, Harvey Norman, Wendy's, Marrybrown and Under Armour.

We brought oppa to JB this time! From salted egg and ma la xiang guo to a seafood restaurant that has no menu, the food places we visited are definitely worth the trip. We also visited a glass temple and did rock climbing. Comment down below if we missed out on your favourite spots in JB!

JB Trip #1: Rockworld | GoPro
We took a trip down to Johor Bahru - the southernmost part of Peninsular Malaysia recently and decided to visit the climbing gyms in the area - Rockworld being the first. A number of climbing gyms have been popping up around Johor lately - soon the climbing community around JB and Singaporeans just across the causeway will be spoilt for choice. Unfortunately, the new Camp5 at Paradigm Mall JB wasn't open yet at the time of this trip.
Rockworld is situated at Setia Business Park 2 in Skudai, at the northern border of JB - it's a nice setup with what seems to be a pretty closely knit community. Unfortunately we didn't get much footage - didn't record any top roping or the exterior, but it's pretty distinguishable from the outside from the massive banner and an outdoor wall.
