Traveling Cowboys: Canmore Brewing’s Community Beer Spring Update for 2018 in Canmore, Alberta
We are the Two Cowboys that are travelling the world, in search of people that make things. We showcase the awesomeness in communities all over Canada, U.S., and New Zealand.
Canmore Brewing makes great beer. We drink a lot of it. What we appreciate from Brian Dunn and his crew is that they look after Canmore’s community. Their beer is on tap and in store all over town. It is a true community brewery and we are glad they are patrons of us, the Two Cowboys.

Canmore Brewing Company
Canmore Brewing Company is one of Alberta's newest craft breweries. It is a frequent and favourite stop on our weekly beer run for their Pale Ale which is similar in character to some traditional Ales that spearheaded the craft beer scene in the Province.
The Brewery is barely a year old. Over the year we could see Brian Dunn and his team settle into their new facility and also in the community of Canmore. The tap room is a busy place on weekends and support for the valley's third brewery is growing rapidly with word getting out.
We made a quick beer run last week during Alberta's beer week (which seems to become a weekly affair) to find out about their newest brew - a New England Style IPA. I think they got it right.

Canmore Brewing Company - Oriented Labels
At Canmore Brewing Company, the cans for all four styles bear the same brewery identifying graphics inked onto printed cans. But the individual brands are distinguished from one another by an adhesive label bearing the beer’s name. The labels are applied with an optically controlled labeler from Pack Leader USA that places the labels in the exact spot reserved for the beer name on the printed can.

Canmore Uncorked 2017 - Canmore Brewing Company
Canmore Uncorked, the multiple award-winning food festival returns to Canmore on May 3rd, 2017 for another 12 days of remarkable dining experiences!
We wanted to find out from Brian Dunn and Susan, what is brewing for the festival. Brian was not very forthcoming about the unique beer they have in mind at his Canmore Brewing Company.
You will be able to get the beer at the brewery's tasting room on Railway Street and also at the local Beer Festival which is scheduled for the 13th of May. It promises to be a delight!
Canmore Brewing is not only the newest brewery in town. It is also really a community focussed brewery. The owners brew the beer and serve it on a Saturday afternoon. Brian, Marc and Susan are behind the counter ready to fill our growlers, pour a pint and educate Canmorians and tourists about the great virtues of locally brewed fresh beer.

Canmore, Alberta: Your Epic Travel Guide For A Winter Trip In Canada
Considering Banff National Park is one of the world's most visited, it might seem obvious that most tourists would skip right past the former coal-mining town of Canmore, located right outside the park. But this is not the case. Ever since the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, of which Nordic events were held around Canmore, the town has been maintaining a name for itself as an individual destination. Beyond being a place where Olympians still train, Canmore offers travelers opportunities for winter recreation. And although there is plenty to do outside around Canmore year round, winter is my favorite season to visit. Not only does it come with fewer crowds, seeing snow covered Rockies in all their glory is breathtaking.
In this video, we will show you some of the top winter experiences you can have in this destination. Up first, it starts with ice fishing in a wooden shantee in the remote Canadian Wilderness. Owner of Banff Fly Fishing Guides, Jim Dysktra, takes guests on half day and full day trips to Spray Lakes in the Spray Valley Provincial Park. Camp is set up in a virtually barren spot on the frozen over lake away from a slew of ice fishers we pass on our way in.
Dog sledding is another top experience and after a trip with Snowy Owls, I realized the thrill of driving your own team of dogs is what makes the experience a rush. Rides wind through the Spray Valley Provincial Park. After a 30-minute drive we arrive in a remote wilderness area and can hear the dogs howling. Jeremy runs us through a thorough safety course where he still manages to work in humor. We learn how to break, cue the huskies to run and about the terrain we are going to pass through- rolling hills, steeper down hills and some uphill portions (which means you need to put your bots on the ground and run with the dogs).
For a more active experience, try cross country skiing at the Canmore Nordic Center Provincial Park, the site of the 1988 Winter Olympics . You will have a blast trying a new sport and in some incredible scenery and sweeping mountain ranges. By the end of a one-hour lesson, most are able to get the basic hang of the sport and enjoying time on some of the 70 km of surrounding trails after.
Check out town too where you could easily spend an afternoon shopping in boutiques, bookstores and shops that carry everything from outdoor gear to home goods. It’s also a place that offers tons of great dining options.
A town favorite is Grizzly Paw Brewing Company/ For the beer, I decide on a flight and was most impressed with the Beavertail Raspberry Ale and Sleeping Buffalo Stout.
For an overnight stay, check out Solara Resort and Spa about five minutes from town. Choose from 1, 2 or 3 bedroom suites that feature full size kitchens, which is perfect for a relaxing night in. Rooms also have fireplaces and balconies.

Canmore Brewing Company
Canmore Brewing Company is our favourite local brewery and we are proud of having Brian Dunn and his team in our town. The brewery officially opened on 1 December 2016, a full year ago. We were there when it opened. We were there when the tap room opened. I think we kicked the door off a day ahead of schedule. We were there when they participated in Canmore Uncorked, there for the Calgary Beer Festival, and we are there almost every week (sometimes several times) when we are in town for a pint and to get our ten growlers filled.

Canmore Uncorked 2017 - Beer Festival
Canmore Uncorked, the multiple award-winning food festival, returns to Canmore on May 3rd, 2017 for another 12 days of remarkable dining experiences!
The last event, and probably the most healthy of the 12 days of food and drink festival in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta was the Canmore Uncorked 2017 Beer Festival.
Local breweries were well represented. There is a revival in craft brewing in the Province, and the festival highlighted the creativity of our local breweries such as Canmore Brewing Company, Banff Ave. Brewing Company, Half-Hitch from Cochrane and others.
We had brews from BC, a few lost Germans. Even Steam Whistle Brewery persevered and made the journey all the way from Ontario to lend its support to our great little festival.
Enjoy the highlights and check back for more.
