Around the Corner with John McGivern | Program | Manitowoc (#711)
[Latest Airdate: July 5, 2018]
[Original Airdate: March 8, 2018]
Manitowoc is a city on the eastern shore of Wisconsin, north of Sheboygan and south of Green Bay that John McGivern LOVES! No, we mean it.
Visits to the Wisconsin Maritime Museum and exploration of the SS Badger were the beginning of his enchantment. Then he was introduced to beach glass, reminisced with an Evergleam Christmas tree collector, and explored Jagemann Stamping and Briess Malt and Ingredients Co. He had a Diet Coke with Kathie at the Stage Door Pub, made a belt at Leatherwerks and checked in to Dead by Dawn --- not sure that he would ever check out! But the cherry on the top was provided by Beerntsen's Confectionary and Cedar Crest Ice Cream! Yum! What's not to love?
Fair warning to those in Manitowoc: Don't be surprised if some day there's a Manitowoc mailbox with John's name on it. By being so inviting, you asked for it, Manitowoc!

Something Stinks in Kaukauna coming April 6-28, 2018
Small screen characters and Wisconsin history are brought to life in this hilarious new musical comedy.
Frankly Green Bay and Diamonds and Gold present Let Me Be Frank Productions’ newest musical comedy, “Something Stinks in Kaukauna.”
Our story takes place at the Grignon Mansion in the heart of Kaukauna. Ever since Mrs. Grignon put her land up for sale, there have been sightings of the Askeaton Corn Monster, and the usual smell of Kaukauna has worsened. The gang from Scooby Doo has come to town for the annual festival — the No Picnic Picnic. When they arrive they find the once famous festival has been canceled due to noxious fumes. The gang befriends Mrs. Grignon and tries to help solve the caper of the Askeaton Corn Monster and the cause of the potent smell in the area. It’s the 60s in Kaukauna and Scooby Dooby Dude, Shaggy, Fred, Velma and Daphne are ready to investigate.
Let Me Be Frank Productions is pleased to welcome back alum Jack Janowicz for this show. Jack has been performing in Los Angeles for the past 3 years and is thrilled to return to the Let Me Be Frank stage once again. Jack is best known for making it to Hollywood on the hit show, American Idol. He currently works at Disneyland in Anaheim, CA.
Cast includes Kasey Schumacher as Mrs. Grignon, Amy Riemer as Daphne, Lisa Borley as Velma, Tom Verbrick as Scooby Dooby Dude, Michael O’Malley as Shaggy, Frank Hermans as Fred, Jack Janowicz as Farmer Langlade and Pat Hibbard as Sheriff Smith. Band includes Tony Pilz, keyboards; Adam Cain, percussion; Dennis Panneck, guitars; and Pat Hibbard, bass.
“Something Stinks in Kaukauna” opens Friday, April 6 with a benefit for JAS House, an organization providing stability and structure for youth who are transitioning to independence but aren’t yet ready to be on their own. On opening night, $10 of every paid ticket goes to this wonderful organization in our community. “Something Stinks in Kaukauna” runs at the Meyer Theatre April 6 – April 28, Thursday – Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. There is an additional matinee at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21.
