State Park Marina Team Shares First-Hand Experience of Boat Tragedy
BRANSON, Mo. -- The Marina team began to secure their area, making sure all of the customers were off the dock. Pat Cox owns State Park Marina
And then once the storm hitwe started getting word from the Branson Belle area that one of the Ducks was in trouble.
Roger Carpenter, State Park Marina Manager says he and the 16-year-old son of Pat Cox hopped in a boat to help.
And when the call for help came in, what they expected to find and what they actually saw were to different things.
We got out there, we're looking for a boat that was capsized, there was no boat.
When I saw no boat. I saw that it was really serious. And we saw all the debris floating. And then I just got worried and I was like, we really need to pick up the pace and actually search around for these people. I didn't realize it was going to be such a serious incident.
Shortly after they heard a scream and saw two men who jumped off the Branson Belle to save a lady that was on the Duck but she was already deceased.
I was amazed. He held onto her for 20 minutes until I got to him. He just kept a hold to her, so he wouldn't lose her.
And we got her on the boat and we got both of those guys on the boat. Continued searching and then found another body out there.
I just really was not expecting to see what I saw.
Carpenter said afterwards they continued to search for people and only found one more body.
Chateau Pensmore Tour The Ultimate Tornado-Proof Home
Pensmore, The 72,000-square-foot Ultimate Tornado-Proof Home under construction in Highlandville, Missouri
In the Midwest, Steve Huff is aiming to build the ultimate tornado-proof home. Mr. Huff, a software entrepreneur, is building a 70,000-square-foot reinforced-concrete, chateau-style home in rural Christian County, Mo. The home, known as Pensmore, has 12-inch-thick walls and ballistic-proof windows that have been tested to withstand the equivalent of a two-by-four board traveling at 40 miles an hour, mimicking the speed at which debris can be hurtled during a big storm. If a tornado came up, you'd be foolish to leave this house, Mr. Huff says.
Mr. Huff, who is an investor in a concrete company, says that the home will also be resistant to intruders: It would be like trying to drill your way through a bank vault.
When it is completed in early 2014, it will be one of the largest private homes in America. Mr. Huff says he plans to have lots of extended family stay with him, as well as visiting writers, scientists and other students who may want to study the safety and environmentally sustainable technologies used to construct the home.

Radio City Christmas In New York
* Produced by MSG Entertainment, and Radio City Entertainment no copyright infringement intended:
* The Radio City Music Hall Christmas Show began in 1933 when the Music Hall presented lavish live stage shows along with the latest Hollywood feature films. The first Christmas show was produced December 21, 1933, along with the RKO musical movie Flying Down to Rio, and ran for two weeks.[1] This was just one year after the opening of the Music Hall in 1932. The show was created by the Music Hall's stage producer Leon Leonidoff and designer Vincente Minelli. It consisted of an overture with Erno Rapee and the Radio City Symphony; a solo on the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ; a Toy Shop Ballet; The Rockettes' Parade of the Wooden Soldiers, choreographed by their founder, Russell Markert; and The Living Nativity. These last two scenes have continued in every edition of the annual show up to the present day. The Christmas show, like all the Radio City stage shows, was produced and choreographed by Leonidoff and Markert through the early decades of the Music Hall's history.
* In addition to the Christmas show's annual production at Radio City, road companies have presented a touring version in theaters throughout the United States. The first Christmas Spectacular outside of Radio City was presented in Branson, Missouri at the Grand Palace Theatre in 1994. The Rockettes, having been originally founded in St. Louis (where they were called the Missouri Rockets), literally returned home for the extravaganza. The successful show launched a national tour the following year. The original touring show was presented in conjunction with Herschend Family Entertainment Corporation and ran from 1994 to 2003. In 2008, a new tour consisting of the 2007 edition was launched, playing at selected theaters and arena venues around the country.

Tour the Gary Soren Smith Center for Fine and Performing Arts at Ohlone College in Fremont, California, USA.
Produced: Undated (prior to 2007)
TRANSCRIPT:
CHRIS: Here we have the Ohlone College scene shop. It is a beautiful, bright, well-equipt scene shop. This is Fred giving instruction to some happy students. What are you guys learning?
Student: Staple guns.
CHRIS: Oh, you're handling nomadic tools. Okay, so we are fully-equipped with both normal electrical power tools as well as nomadics. And there's another webpage that will show you all about Dracula and the Dracula sets. So you can see it's pretty crowded here right now. We have the sets for two different shows in here at the moment.
And as you come out this way, again, watch your step; there's an air hose on the floor here. Got to be careful not to trip. That was Fred. This is Matt. Matt's one of our students. Say hi, Matt.
MATT: Hey.
CHRIS: He loves it here. Come on and we're going to go into the Jackson Theatre.

How to be Happy? Here is a Formula/Checklist for Happiness based on Neuroscience and the actual demands of your brain. As far as I know it is the only one of it's kind, actually connecting the key areas of our life to the brain chemistry responsible for Happiness A Management System for Modern Life. Taking control and managing these areas of your life should have a very positive effect.
P.D.P.O.L.S - Life Management System and Checklist
Notes
1) A good, albeit clinical, meaning of life for all living things is: Survival, Procreation and Evolution.
2) Some determining factors may be: Self knowledge, Objectivity, Conscientiousness, Pragmatism, Perserverance, Empathy,
Altruism, Gratitude...
3) Happiness Is generally defined as Contentment or Satisfaction I'm going to extend it a little and say: A general state of satisfaction with the present, and a hopeful expectation of the future.
4) Sometimes in life we just get used to things that are having ill effects on us and we don't really know how profound the effect was until it has been dealt with.
5) P,D,P,O,L,S. Life Management System and Checklist. These are your areas for Life Management. Their origin is in your DNA. Your brain demands these things as they are the prerequisites to your survival and evolution. We can and do deny these things: at different levels, at different times, and for different reasons usually, insufficiently scrutinized Belief Systems. You can do this, but your brain will react with a brain chemistry not conducive to happiness. This is where the brain may fill in and cause some degree of obsessive behaviour toward primal needs ie Food-Shelter-Clothing,Sex,Alcohol,Drugs etc.in order to achieve a more natural state of satisfaction. When an area is out of line your brain demands you deal with it. Your brain is not unreasonable, it does not expect total fulfillment in each area as it would probably interpret that as non evolutionary. It only demands that you are working on them and therefore evolving. You are the master of your fate. It's all good news!
P.D.P.O.L.S A Checklist For The Life Management System
“P“...Purpose and Meaning in Life (See Notes)
“D“...Development (Your brain absolutely demands you keep making new connections. Boredom equals anxiety. If that anxiety is not burnt off you will have commensurate depression.
“P“...Pie (As in your piece of...the more correct word here would be “fairplay” but it is not as good for songs and doesn’t play into an upcoming project from Griffinheart, about getting your fair share).
“O“...Order (Organize something in your life that is messed up and see how you feel...Voila! Your brain interprets disorganization as threatening to your survival so it turns on some degree of fight or flight juice, ie Anxiety. If you don't react and fight or flight (ie. run like hell or pump some iron!) the juice backs up in your system and you will get a commensurate degree of depression. Anxiety not burnt off, always leads to a commensurate degree of depression. In a sick society filled with imposed unnatural anxieties that aren't burnt off, you have an epidemic of mainly low grade chronic sadness and depression. PDPOLS is magical for creation of an overall sense of Order. Your taking control. Thats better for Survival, Procreation and Evolution. Your brain likes that. It will reward you!
“L“...Love (affection of all kinds...dogs are good !. Society's harshest punishment ISOLATION !
“S“...Sync (Synchronization with Mother Nature is the Catch-All, at the end. If you develop a kind of Paleo way of looking at your behaviours it will simplify the management of this area. Evolution is slow it doesn't leap because some unscrupulous and misinformed people use Science and Technology to extract money from you! You just cannot screw with this woman she is a “ Shit Kickin Hard Ass Red Neck Woman - You just can't mess with her or yer gonna pay BIGTIME ! “

MU Construction Provides Employment Opportunity
Self-employed carpenter Tom Angerer was barely staying afloat two years ago as he struggled to find jobs. The stress of trying to make ends meet for his family finally ended when he secured a job at Jeff City Industries, a construction company that often contracts with MU. Today, Angerer is a member of the workforce contracted to work on the University Hospital Buildings, a project priced at $756,300.
Large projects like the one Angerer works on are put up for bid by the university. As a state institution MU is required to bid every project costing more than $85,000 and the lowest bidder gets the job. Project costing less than $85,000 are completed by MU Campus Facilities. This university department provides maintenance and repair to most buildings on campus.
Campus Facilities can only do projects up to a certain [dollar] amount, Campus Facilities electrician Mark Hart said. We're not equipped after a certain size project. Bigger projects take more manpower and more resources.
At any given time there are 150 projects on MU's campus. This number includes tasks as small as office renovations and as large as the new University Hospital patient care tower. Since only a fraction of the projects are considered large enough to contract out, Hart and his coworkers keep busy.
Due to the larger projects on campus, MU is responsible for the employment of many mid-Missouri workers.
Each of these [larger] projects... have subcontractors on the job so we have a huge amount of people working locally and out of state, Campus Facilities Communications Manager Karlan Seville said.
Due to the large number of companies involved in the construction work on campus, Seville did not know the exact number of workers.
Before Hart was part of Campus Facilities, he worked for other construction companies located in Columbia.
There's not too many builders that I've worked for that haven't done a project for the University, Hart said.
Despite the nation's economic state, the number of construction projects at MU has not lessened, according to Seville. The project are able to continue at a consistent pace despite Missouri government budget cuts.
Our funding comes from the department, the general operating fund, maintenance fund, grant funding, we get funding wherever we can find it for a project.
Construction projects contracted by Campus Facilities don't end at the edge of the Columbia campus. The Geological Science department has a research lab based in Wyoming. Geological Sciences professor Mirium Barquero-Molina said the lab called Camp Branson has been in need of repairs for a while.
The numerous construction projects MU provide much-needed jobs for many construction workers. The university's 67 Campus Facility employees not only have work today, but security for the future.
We're guaranteed 40 hours but not necessarily in our trade, Hart said. We might be pushing a broom, but we are guaranteed to work.
