Ornamentation technique called damascene metal is of great antiquity, being the favorite decoration for weapons and armor from time immemorial. It basically consists of embedding a precious metal such as gold or 24K .925 fine silver thousandths other current metal such as steel, copper, iron, bronze, etc. This combination of different metals as a result provides a great beauty of real metal marquetry.

Toledo and Alexandria, beacons of humanity, is the story of the spread of knowledge through a
historical path.
The first part explains how Arabic culture, that had collected and widened the classical legacy, was passed on to the Christian western world as a result of the translations that were done in the border territories between both civilizations and in particular in Toledo during 12th and 13th centuries.
This would not have taken place without the spirit of tolerance that allowed joint work between scholars of the three cultures Arabic, Jewish and Christian.
The arrival of classical and Arabic knowledge in medieval Christian Europe had a profound influence and was the precursor of the Renaissance.
In the second part of this documentary, a jump backwards takes us to the times of the forebears of the knowledge collected and translated in Toledo.
This is how we reach The Alexandrian Library, founded by the successors of Alexander the Great. Thanks to the patronage of the Ptolomaic kings, this used to be a place where scholars could dedicated themselves wholly to study, surrounded by an extraordinary collection of all the books that were available in those times.

Batallas entre musulmanes y cristianos, los ataques de los piratas y la lucha por alcanzar el poder entre la nobleza y la monarquía han hecho de España un país de fortalezas. En total, se cree que hay unos 20.000, aunque no todas han logrado conservarse en perfecto estado. En la Asociación Española de Amigos de los Castillos hay unos 10.200 contabilizados.
La mayor parte de los castillos españoles están concentrados en Castilla, de ahí a su nombre; Cataluña, Aragón y Jaén. Sus extensos campos están salpicados de torres construidas en terrenos elevados difíciles de acceder desde donde controlar el territorio.
A diferencia de otras fortalezas que se pueden ver en el resto de Europa, los castillos de España no eran palacios, sino que tenían funciones defensivas y militares. Su estilo dependerá de la época. Una gran mayoría datan de la Edad Media, otros son renacentistas y algunos de ellos han servido de escenario para películas o series de televisión tan populares como Juego de Tronos.

Situado a los pies del castillo de San Servando, se tiene constancia de su construcción en la época romana. Está protegido con dos puertas fortificadas en sus extremos, siendo una de ellas de estilo barroco y otra construida en época medieval.

The Puente de Alcántara is a Roman arch bridge in Toledo, Spain, spanning the Tagus River. The word Alcántara comes from Arabic, which means bridge. Toledo Alcantara Bridge was declared a national cultural monument in 1921.
Located at the feet of the Castillo de San Servando, it was built by the Romans after they founded the city. In the Middle Ages it was one of the few entrances of the pilgrim into the city.
The bridge should not be confused with either the Alcántara Bridge in Alcántara or the Alconétar Bridge in the Extremadura region, both Roman bridges situated further downstream.
