Costa Brava Travel Guide for Food Lovers (Cadaqués, La Vall de Bianya, Pyrenees & Girona) in Spain
Join us as we showcase the Costa Brava region of Spain in this travel guide for food lovers as part of #EuroFoodTrip.
We started off our journey spending the night in Cadaqués waking up the following morning to go on a sailing trip along the Cap de Creus Natural Park on a traditional boat. We had the opportunity to bask in the sun and eat plenty of local seafood including Fideuà (noodles with seafood) and mussels with Bizcochos Borrachos (drunken Spanish sponge cake) for dessert. In the afternoon we visited La Vinyeta Cellar vineyard to harvest grapes by hand and then crush them with our feet. Afterwards we enjoyed a wine tasting paired with cheese. That evening we did a cooking workshop and a gin and tonic workshop and tasting with Gin Nut staying overnight at La Vall de Bianya.
The following morning had us waking up before the crack of dawn to go on a hot air balloon ride over la Garrotxa where we had a fantastic view of the Pyrenees mountain range. We then transferred to Girona where we had lunch at Celler de Can Roca considered to be the 2nd best restaurant in the world. After relaxing for a bit we took a guided city tour of Girona exploring its wonderful architecture, sampling some gelato and picking out Game of Thrones locations. Our final meal on this trip featured traditional Catalan food at Can Xifra restaurant where I got to drink wine out of a porró and had the best rum and raisin ice cream I've ever tasted in my whole life.

Costa Brava Travel Guide for Food Lovers (Cadaqués, La Vall de Bianya, Pyrenees & Girona) in Spain Travel Food Video Transcript:
So hey guys, this week we are in Costa Brava, Spain and we're going to be taking you on a bit of a food adventure. Can't wait to eat and travel.
So it is a beautiful day out. We have blue skies and I think that calls for a sailing trip.
So lunch is served and we are having Fideuà on the boat so have a look here. This is a seafood dish and it is made with pasta that is cooked in fish juice and we've also got some prawns.
So next up we're at La Vinyeta and this is a winery and a vineyard so we're going to be drinking some wine and doing a little tour.
So Sam has found a new career here in Costa Brava picking grapes
So I'm going to be stomping some grapes this afternoon in order to do so I need my traditional Catalan hat, Catalan scarf. Now I'm ready to do this and we're going barefoot.
So Sam tell us what are you about to drink? I'm trying the grapes that you stepped on. With my bare feet.
Well, I can't think of a better way to finish off this vineyard tour than with wine, cheese and cold cuts
So tonight we are spending the night in a place called la Ferreria and this hotel is like traveling back in time.
We're taking a hot air balloon ride and it should be amazing. Like this is something we've never done and we really want to try it out. Yeah, so we're going to be flying over the Pyrenees mountains and it should be spectacular. Let's go.
So this afternoon we're doing a bit of a taste test at el Celler de Can Roca and this is the second highest rated restaurant in the whole world. It should be delicious.
So next up we're going to start the appetizer and this is going to take us a journey around the world.
And there is the world.
So this afternoon we're going to do a walking tour of Girona and it looks beautiful. It looks really colorful but first up we need to get ice cream.
Okay, so we finally got our ice cream and apparently there is some kind of Game of Thrones reference here. It is called Ma Daurada and that means the golden hand.
So this bridge was built by Monsieur Eiffel himself before the Eiffel Tower ever came to be.
So that is a wrap from beautiful Costa Brava. I have to say we ate like Kings and Queens while we were here. Yeah, and we got a nice taste of the region in terms of all of the travel activities and things you can do as well. Definitely somewhere we'd like to come back and explore more in-depth. Yeah, so we hope you enjoyed this video and if you have any questions about travel in Costa Brava, Spain just leave them in the comments below. See you next time.

Spain (Spanish: España [esˈpaɲa] (About this sound listen)), officially the Kingdom of Spain (Spanish: Reino de España),[a][b] is a sovereign state located on the Iberian Peninsula in southwestern Europe, with two large archipelagoes, the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea and the Canary Islands off the North African Atlantic coast, two cities, Ceuta and Melilla, in the North African mainland and several small islands in the Alboran Sea near the Moroccan coast. The country's mainland is bordered to the south and east by the Mediterranean Sea except for a small land boundary with Gibraltar; to the north and northeast by France, Andorra, and the Bay of Biscay; and to the west and northwest by Portugal and the Atlantic Ocean. It is the only European country to have a border with an African country (Morocco)[h] and its African territory accounts for nearly 5% of its population, mostly in the Canary Islands but also in Ceuta and Melilla. With an area of 505,990 km2 (195,360 sq mi), Spain is the largest country in Southern Europe, the second largest country in Western Europe and the European Union, and the fourth largest country in the European continent. By population, Spain is the sixth largest in Europe and the fifth in the European Union. Spain's capital and largest city is Madrid; other major urban areas include Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Bilbao and Málaga. Modern humans first arrived in the Iberian Peninsula around 35,000 years ago. Iberian cultures along with ancient Phoenician, Greek and Carthaginian settlements developed on the peninsula until it came under Roman rule around 200 BCE, after which the region was named Hispania, based on the earlier Phoenician name Sp(a)n or Spania.[10] At the end of the Western Roman Empire the Germanic tribal confederations in migration from Central Europe invaded the Iberian peninsula and established themselves in relatively independent realms in its western provinces. The Visigoths migrating from Eastern Europe were allowed to settle in federated status in the neighbor province of Aquitania in 511, with the treaty obligations among others to assist the Empire with military allied support to expeditions defending its provinces in the West. And so they did in Gaul against Franks, Burgundians and the Sueves, Alans and Vandals depredations in the Iberian peninsula. The military campaigns success against the Vandals and Alans was so sounded that their dominion over the provinces of Betica and Carthaginensis were ended and they restored to the Empire. Both would unite and eventually leave the peninsula for Africa to form the Vandal kingdom. After the fall of the Roman Empire, the Goths established the independent Kingdom of Toulouse expanding their domination over the extant Roman provinces in Gaul and Hispania. They took immediate military control of the Narbonensis, Auvergne and Provence and in the peninsula, the Tarraconensis and Carthaginensis from local provincial authorities, and wrestled control of Baetica and Lusitania from the Suebian Kingdom, placing a match to their expansion and passing to be the dominant power in the peninsula regardless of Byzantines and Frankish and Burgundians later incursions or dominion in parts the peninsula. The Suebian kingdom, some independent Hispano-Roman local regions and the Byzantines provincial realm in the peninsula, would be integrated by force into the successor Kingdom of Toledo that more or less unified politically, ecclesiastically and legally all the former Roman provinces or successor kingdoms of what was then known in documents as Hispania.
