Found throughout India, but found of the largest size and in the greatest abundance in mountain-streams or those which are rocky.

Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary | Live Crocodiles | Storks | Mysore Mandya | Karnataka | INDIA
Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary (Kannada: ರಂಗನತಿಟ್ಟು ಪಕ್ಷಿಧಾಮ) also known as Pakshi Kashi of Karnataka is a bird sanctuary in the Mandya District of the state of Karnataka in India. It is the largest bird sanctuary in the state, only 40 acres in area, and comprises six islets on the banks of the Kaveri river.[4] Ranganathittu is located three kilometers away from the historic town of Srirangapatna and 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) north of Mysore. The sanctuary attracted about 3 lakh visitors during 2016–17, which shows its notability as important bird sanctuary of India.
Ranger-guided boat tours of the isles are available throughout the day, and are a good way to watch birds, crocodiles, otters and bats. There is no lodging at the tiny sanctuary, so visitors typically have to stay over at Mysore or Srirangapatna. The seasons for visiting the park are: June–November (during the nesting season of the water birds). The best time to watch migratory birds is usually December but it can vary year to year.

Deer Caught While Exploring (Went Wrong) | Muthathi Forest | Karnataka |
#muthathiforest #muthathi
Muthathi, surrounded by forests that is part of the Cauvery Wildlife sanctuary, with the Cauvery river flowing through it, is an amazing setting for wildlife and nature lovers.
Having declared the forest as Cauvery wildlife sanctuary, the officials at the forest department check-post are on constant alert & do a thorough check of your vehicle. This is to ensure that visitors are not carrying banned substances like liquor, plastic, poaching equipments, etc. Their recent efforts to not allow domestic livestock for grazing has become a bone of contention between them and the villagers.
The best way to access the forest is through Bangalore-Kanakapura Highway. Take a left at Sathanuru and once you reach the village, continue further on the same road towards the forest. Since the river and the forest area is associated with Sita and Hanuman, it also is a place of religious significance and draws huge crowds.
The village acts as a transit point and a stopover for folks that have religious obligation and/or wanting to sacrifice animals. During certain occasions, you will find truckload of pigs, sheep, goats and chicken being sacrificed, turning this non-descript village into a hot-bed of ritualistic and occult activities.
The forest itself is quite amazing and the best time is to visit is during early morning. The look and feel of the forest changes with the seasons. It is quite an enthralling experience to see wild trees like Flame of the Forrest bloom & the different hues of the trees leafs and topography during summer months. While the trees and shrubs wear a withered brownish-green look during winters, the forest wears a green canopy during the rainy seasons.
