Belize City to Caye Caulker Water Taxi
Getting from Belize City to the Island paradise of Caye Caulker via Water Taxi. Process is pretty simple and you can buy tickets when you get to the water taxi dock. They run frequent boats, you line up, and 45-60 minutes later you arrive on Caye Caulker. Boat continues on towards San Pedro if you are going there instead.
Taking a Water Taxi in Belize
Water taxis, essentially small high-speed ferries, are a great way to travel from mainland Belize to the offshore islands, Ambergris Caye, the most visited spot in the country, and laid-back Caye Caulker to south. You can also travel to remote spots around Ambergris, between islands, and even as far as the town of Chetumal, in Mexico.
Travelers often fly in to the international airport in Belize City, take a cab to the ferry landing of one of the two major companies Caye Caulker Water Taxi and San Pedro Belize Express, and then motor over to the islands. There are about five to six ferries per day, with service starting early in the morning and cutting off at dusk.
The water taxi are on-time, safe, and reliable. And tickets are inexpensive, running around $22 to $32 round-trip, depending on where you’re going.

Belize City to Caye Caulker Travel #VLOG 179
Another day backpacking with Jermaine. Today we're off to Belize city then to Caye Caulker. Caye Caulker is a set of islands off the coast of Belize. Very very beautiful islands. Adventures to get to those islands. First we got to get off the bus look for a taxi take a taxi to the water taxi $15 for round trip ticket that's good up to three months. Once on the water taxi they told us that it will take about an hour to get to Caye Caulker. The entire journey only seen about 45 minutes or less. Supplies we arrived a bit earlier than expected. At first I was a little nervous it look like it was going to storm outside and I found myself getting a little boat taxi.

Water Taxi from Caye Caulker to Belize City
Water Taxi ride from Caye Caulker into Belize City. Ride was relatively smooth but took about 45 minutes. I bought round trip tickets in advance in Belize City and just showed up at the time i wanted to leave. They will generally do everything they can to get everyone onto the boat so it may be crowded. Enjoy Island Life!

Getting to Caye Caulker, Belize from Playa del Carmen (26)
Caye Caulker is a snorkeler and diver's paradise. But how to get there?
Getting there:
If you are driving from Playa del Carmen or Tulum get on the carretera cancun-tulum/mexico 307 south towards Chetumal. It will take approximately four hours. You have the option of by-passing a town called Felipe Carrillo Puerto for 24 pesos but it doesn't take that much longer if you stay on the “Libre” or free highway. When you arrive in Chetumal, there is the question of parking. We originally contacted the Capital Plaza Hotel but it turns out they do not offer parking to customers that don't stay the night. If you do stay the night, you may be able to negotiate two night parking with them for 150 pesos per night. Since we didn't stay at the hotel we found this little secure parking lot in town called Estacionamiento Del Centro. It cost us 250 pesos for two nights. The reception and service was exceptional. Even though they are closed on Sundays, they offered to meet us at the lot when we returned to open the locked gate. We then took a cab to the ferry/water taxi terminal for 20 pesos.
Taking the ADO bus. It takes between 4 and 5 hours and prices range from 181 to 440 pesos.
There are two ferry/water taxi companies that operate on alternating days. We traveled with San Pedro Water Taxi which departed on Friday at 3:30 p.m. and returned at 7 a.m. on Sunday morning. The price round-trip was $110 USD/person. Be sure to get any snacks in advance because it's a long trip and they don't serve anything on board. The Chetumal-San Pedro leg is 1 hour, forty-five minutes then you must disembark to clear customs and immigration. The time in San Pedro is about one hour. You then jump back on for another 30-45 minutes to Caye Caulker. We definitely recommend getting a seat in the back. If it's windy the boat will buck and you will feel every bump in the front!! This trip is not for the faint of heart, the claustrophobic, or for anyone that is expecting a baby or has back pain. Trust us on this one.
Once in Caye Caulker there are two main roads that the locals call front street and middle street. There are hotels, hostels, and guest houses that line the beach and the two main roads. We booked an Airbnb in advance to be sure we had a place to stay.
Eating in Caye Caulker:
There is no shortage of incredible restaurants. The prices are reasonable and the food is fresh and prepared in a Caribbean style. There are also pizza shops, Chinese food restaurants, and fish and seafood restaurants. Although there are some Vegetarian/Vegan options, they are pretty few and far between. We also didn't notice any gluten free options on the island. On the first night we ate at Roy's Blue Water Grill and we really enjoyed it. It cost us $15 USD/person including a beer, a gin and tonic, and tip.
Don't forget to check out Day 2 of our trip to Caye Caulker!

Swimming With Sharks and Stingrays In Belize (Caye Caulker) | Carnival Cruise 2018 | VLOG 009

The second of three destinations on the cruise was Belize City, Belize. This time we chose to snorkel over a coral reef, as well as, swimming with sharks and stingrays in Belize, just off of a small island called “Split Island”. Split Island is actually the Island of Caye Caulker and it got its nickname do to a storm in 1961 that ravished the island and literally split it in half, killing over 200 people. Now only one side of the island is really in use and the other side is mostly vacant.
Getting to Caye Caulker started with a short boat taxi from the cruise ship to the Belize City port. Once our entire group was all there, approximately 35 people, we boarded another boat and took a boat ride about 45 minutes north of Belize City to Caye Caulker. The water was absolutely beautiful and it was an enjoyable ride out. Once we arrived there, we went to the coral reef first and snorkeled for a bit and then we got back on the boat and went about 5 minutes away to the shark and stingrays.
If I’m being completely honest, I was more nervous about the stingrays than the sharks!! Why? Because the sharks were just “nurse sharks” and have no teeth, and don’t really bite. However, we were in the ocean, not a controlled area inside some water park, so all the stingrays still had their barbs. And if any of you remember how the “Crocodile Hunter” died, then you already know why I was nervous, haha. That guy got bit by snakes, spiders, crocs and tons of other things and survived, but it only took one stingray to kill him.
Nikki and I tried our best to capture our experience on our cameras but when you’re floating in the middle of the ocean and trying to simultaneously swim against a current, and film, and simply enjoy the experience all at the very same time, it’s not all that easy, haha.
Nonetheless, it was amazing and also allowed me to check off 4 items on my bucket list!! I’ll admit, 2 of the 4 things I’ve already done but I had no video proof of it, so now I can “OFFICIALLY” check them off the list. My “Bucket List” will also be a regular feature on both my YouTube page and also my personal website! I’ve shared my Official Bucket List below as well as on my website. So take a look at it and if you think you can help me knock something off the list, then let me know and maybe we can do it together!

Belize day 6: watertaxi and arrival in San Pedro for snorkeling
After dropping off our rental car, they were nice enough to drive us in our rental car to the San Pedro watertaxi. We had no idea what to expect from San Pedro and we definitely did not expect it to be a party town. It was the complete opposite from Hopkins village.
We happen to arrive on a day that they had this gambling game called Chicken Drop where people place bets on which number they think the chicken will take a crap on. Originally, we were planning to walk to the hotel from the watertaxi, but the taxi drivers said that even though the hotel isn't that far, it was a pretty good distance to walk with our luggage. The taxi ride took less than 5 minutes from the watertaxi to San Pedro Inn, and it only cost $4 USD, which was cheap and convenient.
