Ghosts of Santa Barbara and Ventura County California
In this video I explore Santa Barbara Mission, where hundreds of Chumash Indians died during the revolt of 1824. They were disposed of on the property, but some legends state that their remains were used in the building material of the wall at the back of the mission. Are they at rest? We also look for vanishing hitchhikers and roadside ghosts on Rose Avenue and Ortega Road. There's apparently a hide and seek playing ghost at Santa Clara Cemetery in Oxnard and a cemetery-turned-dog park in Ventura, now called the Cemetery Memorial Park.

Glendale lies on the southeastern end of the San Fernando Valley, bisected by the Verdugo Mountains, and is a suburb in the Greater Los Angeles Area. The city is bordered to the northwest by the Sun Valley and Tujunga neighborhoods of Los Angeles; to the northeast by La Cañada Flintridge and the unincorporated area of La Crescenta; to the west by Burbank and Griffith Park; to the east by Eagle Rock and Pasadena; to the south by the Atwater Village neighborhood of Los Angeles; and to the southeast by Glassell Park neighborhood of Los Angeles. The Golden State, Ventura, Glendale, and Foothill freeways run through the city.
Glendale has one of the largest communities of Armenian descent in the United States.[11] In 2013, Glendale was named LA's Neighborhood of the Year by the readers and editors of Curbed.com.[12]
Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery contains the remains of many noted celebrities and local residents. Grand Central Airport was the departure point for the first commercial west-to-east transcontinental flight flown by Charles Lindbergh.

Civil War Veterans in Desecrated Graves
In 1969, the City of Ventura, California abandoned its two City owned pioneer cemeteries, St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery founded in 1862, and the adjacent Ventura Protestant Cemetery founded in 1889. These two cemeteries located at main and Poli Streets in Ventura were converted to a public park where the remains over 3,000 of the City's pioneer residents are still buried, the headstones and monuments were disposed of in a landfill in the nearby Santa Clara River and the property's use converted to a city park. Over the years several families moved the remains of their ancestors across town to Ivy Lawn Memorial Park but the city did nothing to protect the remaining graves of these early pioneers. No effort was made to maintain, relocate, protect or honor the graves of the many military veterans remaining.
The above research by Edson T. Strobridge, Civil War research historian in San Luis Obispo, CA. has so far identified fifty-five Civil War veterans originally buried in these historic burial grounds. Over the years eight of the veterans graves have been removed to Ivy Lawn Memorial Park by their families. There still remain the graves of forty seven veterans of the Civil war including many of their wives and children, in what has become known as Cemetery Memorial Park. Among the more than 3,000 graves remaining is one of a Civil War General and former member of Congress, another, a Confederate Colonel and many others who served their country in time of war. They include seven members of the original 99 men who enrolled in Company C, 1st Battalion, Native California Cavalry originally enrolled in Santa Barbara in April 1864 (when Ventura Co. was still a part) and made up entirely of native Californians, who represented California in the Union Army during the Civil War.
This research is ongoing and not yet complete and does not include the names of veterans of other wars, one Medal of Honor winner won during the Indian Wars in 1869. As more information develops and confirmed Mr. Strobridge plans to share it with Mr. Steven Shleder to aid in his mission to gain support in Restoring St. Mary's Cemetery.
This above information has been developed from a number of sources, among them the US Civil War Military Pension Record Index, US Civil War Military Service Record, County Histories, US Census Rolls, contemporary newspapers and GAR membership rolls. All names listed have been confirmed as Civil War veterans, having served in the military Forces of the United States or the Confederate States of America between the years 1861 and 1865. The Cemetery burial information has been taken from the City of San Buenaventura Cemetery Records as compiled by Edess Fargo, Administrative Asst,. City Clerk's Office on 10 January 2001. The Ivy Lawn records have been taken from the listing provided by Terri Taylor Gonzalez, Gen. Mgr. Of Ivy Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery on March 14, 2003 and posted on the web on Mr. Schleder's web site Restore St. Mary's Cemetery ( Restorestmarys. Org)

Faces of Death - Vic Morrows Death , Twilight Zone Accident (Faces of Death 7 , Death Scenes 2 )
In the early morning hours of July 23, 1982, Morrow and two children, My-Ca Dinh Le (age 7), and Renee Shin-Yi Chen (age 6), died in an accident while filming on location for the Twilight Zone: The Movie in Ventura County, California, between Santa Clarita and Piru. Morrow was playing the role of Bill Connor, a racist who is taken back in time and placed in various situations where he would be a persecuted victim: as a Jewish Holocaust victim, a black man about to be lynched by the Ku Klux Klan, and a Vietnamese man about to be killed by U.S. soldiers. Morrow, Le, and Chen were filming a scene for the Vietnam sequence in which their characters attempt to escape from a pursuing U.S. Army helicopter out of a deserted Vietnamese village. The helicopter was hovering at about 25 feet above them when pyrotechnic explosions damaged it and caused it to crash on top of them, killing all three instantly.[3] He was decapitated along with one of the child actors.
Morrow is interred in Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Culver City, California.[4]
From Wikipedia
Director John Landis and other defendants, including producer Steven Spielberg and pilot Dorsey Wingo, were ultimately acquitted of involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment. The parents of Le and Chen sued and settled out of court for an undisclosed amount. Morrow's children also sued and settled for an undisclosed amount.[5]

Kent Shreeve Memorial
Kent Evans Shreeve, 81, died at home on December 23, 2018. Born on February 17, 1937 in Jonesboro, AR, he moved to West Helena as a child, and the town and people in it remained a dear part of his life until he died.
He was predeceased by his parents Victor and Helen Burns Shreeve and sister, Kay. He is survived by his wife, Anna; daughters, KayRee Shreeve (Griselda) of Gilroy, CA; Jane Lea Smith (Jim) of Del Mar, CA; stepdaughters, Kristy Townsend (Chad) of Bentonville; Robin Wing (Jim) of Conway; Bridget Pitonyak (Eddie) of Little Rock; son, Michael Shreeve of Hot Springs; stepsons, George Waddell (Shannan) of Little Rock; Kim Waddell (Linda) of Carlisle, LaVaughn Waddell (Dee) of Houston, TX and many other family members and friends.
He enjoyed his grandpa role and delighted in the accomplishments of all his grandchildren. Often that million dollar smile was on display when Emma Smith; Stella, Sterling Grace, and Louis Waddell; Hayden, Maddox and Anna Marie Townsend; Ethan Rhoades (Brittany); Colton and Dustin Pitonyak (Deni); Kimberly Schalchin; and Brandon Waddell (Beth) came to visit.
Kent attended the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he served as president of Sigma Chi, Theta Tau, and Ta Beta Pi, earning both Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering. He was privileged to have served as a civil engineer lieutenant on active duty for three years in the US Air Force preceded by 4 years in the Army Reserve. He began his civilian engineering career at Shell Oil Company in Ventura, CA, followed by Humble Oil and Refining Co. in Baton Rouge, La. and later AFCO Steel in Little Rock. In 1972, he began Shreeve Engineering, Inc. His primary professional interests were industrial plants and forensic engineering. He was active in the Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering where contributing to scholarships for civil engineering students was a primary pleasure, Structural Engineers Association of Arkansas and Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. His church home was St. James United Methodist and was a member of the Forum Sunday School Class.
He liked to hunt but was not a meat hunter. Carrying a gun to the woods with a few bullets, a cigar and a Butterfinger candy bar with a coffee thermos was good enough. Observing and interacting with wildlife, especially wild turkeys, were his primary objectives. Playing the piano was a special talent and he marked off a bucket list item by playing piano concerts of jazz ballads at the South Arkansas Art Center in El Dorado and St. John's Episcopal Church in Helena. Collecting classic books and selectively reading parts of them was a passion. Although he would not call himself an intellectual, his drive for learning never ended. He committed himself to the Obedient Life taught by Jesus Christ in the Sermon on the Mount and by Bill W. and Dr. Bob in the 12 steps and was committed to sharing this life with others. On July 5, he would have celebrated 37 years of sobriety. His ending to every note, letter or card was always Peace and Love.
Visitation will be at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home on December 27 from 5-7 pm and memorial service will be at St. James United Methodist Church at 10 am on December 28 with private burial in Mount Holly Cemetery, Little Rock.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts be given in honor of Kent Shreeve to the Arkansas Academy of Civil Engineering scholarship Fund, 300 University House, Fayetteville, AR 72701, Attn: Gift Services or St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Dr, Little Rock, AR 72212.

Glendale
Glendale is a city, in Los Angeles County, California, United States. It lies at the eastern end of the San Fernando Valley, is bisected by the Verdugo Mountains, and is an important suburb in the Greater Los Angeles Area. The city is bordered to the southwest by the Atwater Village neighborhood of Los Angeles; to the west by Burbank; to the northwest by the Tujunga neighborhood of Los Angeles; to the northeast by the city of La Cañada Flintridge and the unincorporated La Crescenta area; to the east by Pasadena; and to the southeast by the Eagle Rock and Glassell Park neighborhoods of Los Angeles. The Golden State, Ventura, Glendale, and Foothill freeways run through the city. The city is policed by the Glendale Police Department.
As of the 2000 census, the city population was 194,973. Since then, there have been estimates of 201,326 by the U.S. Census Bureau in 2004 and 207,007 by the California State government in 2005, making it the third largest city in Los Angeles County and the seventeenth largest city in the state of California.
Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, located in Glendale, contains the remains of many celebrities and local residents. It is famous as the pioneer of a new style of cemetery.
The area was long inhabited by the Tongva people.
José María Verdugo, a corporal in the Spanish army from Baja California, received a grant of the Rancho San Rafael in 1798, an area he had been farming since 1784. In 1860 His grandson Teodoro Verdugo built the Verdugo Adobe, which is the oldest building in Glendale. The property is the location of the Oak of Peace where early Californio leaders including Jesus Pico met in 1847 and decided to surrender to American General John C. Frémont.
Verdugo's descendants sold the ranch in various parcels, some of which are included in present-day Atwater Village, Eagle Rock, and Highland Park neighborhoods of Los Angeles.
Glendale, 1910.In 1884, residents gathered to form a town and chose the name Glendale. Residents to the southwest formed Tropico in 1887. The Pacific Electric Railroad brought streetcar service in 1904.
Glendale incorporated in 1906, and annexed Tropico 12 years later. An important civic booster of the era was Leslie C. Brand, who built an estate in 1904 called El Miradero in a blend of architectural styles. Brand built a private airstrip in 1919 and hosted fly-in parties. The grounds of El Miradero are now city-owned Brand Park and the mansion is the Brand Library. One of the city's main thoroughfares is Brand Boulevard.
Looking south on Brand Blvd, 1915.The city's population rose from 13,756 in 1920 to 62,736 in 1930. The Forest Lawn Memorial Park opened in 1917. Pioneering endocrinologist and entrepreneur Dr. Henry R. Harrower opened his clinic in Glendale in 1920, which for many years was the largest business in the city. The American Green Cross, an early conservation and tree preservation society, was formed in 1926 (it disbanded three years later and the current organization of that name is unrelated).
Grand Central Air Terminal, October 2005The Grand Central Airport was an important facility to the city and to the history of aviation. It provided the first paved runway west of the Rocky Mountains in 1923. In 1928 it opened its terminal, making it the first official airport in Greater Los Angeles. For the next two decades it was the main airport in the county and references to Los Angeles Airport from that era generally refer to the Grand Central Airport, not to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which was known as Mines Field at the time (commercial airline operations at LAX did not begin until 1946).
Jack Northrop built his first aircraft factory here in 1927, though it was soon moved to Burbank's United Airport (now Bob Hope Airport). The first regularly-scheduled airline service between Southern California and New York City was initiated on July 28, 1929 by Transcontinental Air Transport, with owner Charles A. Lindbergh piloting the first flight. Pioneering female aviator Laura Ingalls became the first woman to fly solo across the country when she landed at Glendale in 1930. The first transcontinental flight by African American pilots, Albert Forsythe and Charles Anderson, was completed at Glendale in 1933. Howard Hughes built his innovative and record-setting H-1 Racer in a plant next to the airport in 1935. During World War II it became a P-38 base where the 319th Fighter Wing trained.
