The Chiyoda Cherry Blossom (Sakura) Festival is held each year between late March and early April along the 700-meter-long Chidorigafuchi-ryokudo Walkway. This spot is known across Japan for its magnificent cherry blossoms. Around 260 trees of the Somei-yoshino and Oshima varieties are illuminated at dusk. The Chidorigafuchi boating area is also open late during the festival so that visitors can view this magical sight from the water.

Top Cherry Blossoms Spot in Tokyo : Imperial Palace & Chidorigafuchi Park | Japan Travel EP #7
Chidorigafuchi's path is the most scenic spot around the moat, with a 700-meter-long tunnel of cherry trees in the spring /Sakura/Hanami season. The pathway is a five-minute walk from Kudanshita Station or Hanzomon Station.

From around the end of March to early April, the walkways around the moat are tinted pink by hundreds of cherry trees. The Chiyoda Sakura Festival is held at the same time, so for the duration of the cherry blossom season the trees are lit up at night. This magical sight draws Tokyoites and visitors alike. Enjoy an evening walk under the glowing tunnel of flowers.

Later in the season the surface of the moat is almost completely covered in petals, creating the illusion of an ethereal pink river.

Nearby sights include Yasukuni-jinja Shrine, which is also a good spot to see cherry blossoms and autumn leaves, as well as the National Showa Memorial Museum , Nippon Budokan and Jimbocho, the bookseller's district.

We were lucky enough to stumble into the Tokyo Imperial Palace on one of the few days where they open Inui Street to the public! The grounds were lined with beautiful cherry blossom trees. Then we walked around Chidorigafuchi Park and view the most stunning cherry blossoms yet — the perfect sakura hanami spot!! Our day wouldn’t be complete with some authentic Japanese street food (Okonomiyaki). We also quickly stop by the famous Shibuya Crossing.

Amazing Cherry Blossom Boat Rental and then Akihabara in Tokyo, Japan!
We headed to Chiyoda to rent a row boat so we could enjoy the cherry blossoms lined on both sides of the river. It was amazing being surrounded by so many beautiful peaceful cherry blossom trees. Afterward we went to Akihabara to, Akihabara is a well known area for being the go to place for everything nerdy. lol. It sure did not disappoint. :D

Rent a boat and enjoy the four seasons of Chidori-ga-fuchi!
The green road of Chidori-ga-fuchi is a 700 meters long promenade along the moat of the Imperial Palace. About 140 cherry trees line the green road. It's a popular place in spring for a hanami - cherry blossom viewing.
But actually, Chidori-ga-fuchi isn't just a place for the cherry blossom season. It's a refreshing oasis all year round!
All you have to do is rent a boat. When you walk along the green road, you will see a boat pier where you can rent rowboats and paddle boats (pedalos).
During the hot Japanese summer, a boat trip is perfect for relaxing surrounded by lush trees while feeling a cooling breeze.
In autumn, the colorful leaves of the trees and the many flowers are a beautiful sight: perfect for a walk around the moat. Of course, you can also rent a boat and relax in the soft autumn sun.
Furthermore, a special event is held every summer at the moat.
At the Chiyoda City Floating Lantern Festival people write their wishes on lanterns. After that, some of the participants chosen by lottery are allowed to row a boat and let everyone's lantern float on the moat. The gentle light of the 700 lanterns is a very beautiful and romantic sight! Every year, more and more tourists from everywhere in the world are participating in the festival. Why don't you join them next year? Your wishes might come true!
Chidori-ga-fuchi is a green oasis in the middle of the city.
