Making Chocolate at ChocoMuseo in Granada, Nicaragua
When the Mayans discovered chocolate 2000 years ago, little did they know that it would later become a most coveted superfood worldwide.
In Mayan society, all classes, rich and poor alike, were entitled to this nutrient rich food.
They were the first to harvest the beans from the cacao tree, ferment, dry, roast, and then ground the seeds into a paste to make a bitter frothy drink.

Fui para Granada, uma linda cidade colonial, onde me hospedei GRATUITAMENTE na famosa Mansión de Chocolate - a construção colonial mais antiga da cidade e que foi construída pelo ex-presidente Evaristo Carazo em 1860. O lugar é hoje o único hotel com spa, piscina e fábrica de chocolate artesanal na cidade. A construção ainda conserva a majestosa arquitetura colonial com 5 jardins espaçosos e decorados com um mobiliário artístico fantástico.
