Frederik Chopin Music-Playing Bench in Warsaw (Poland)
The special music-playing benches you can find throughout Warsaw. The sound system embedded in the benches will bring the Chopin music closer. You have to press a button and make the bench play a selected fragment, almost like a jukebox.
Each Chopin Bench has a description of the particular spot and information on its historic links to the composer. Each of these unusual pieces of furniture, is equipped with a specific photo code, which allows downloading from the Internet a special Chopin application, containing an audio guide and a set of tracks with Chopin music.
The idea of Chopin’s Benches was created by Towarzystwo Projektowe for commemorating Chopin’s Year 2010, which also established the Urban Information System and designed the urban furniture on Krakowskie Przedmieście.

Through a compilation of short pieces, and comfortable seating, there is a continuous tribute to Poland's famous composer, Frederic Chopin in Warsaw.
Starting at the Chopin Museum (Muzeum Fryderyka Chopina w Warszawie), visitors to Poland's capital can carve their own route through the city's streets when searching for benches that provide tidbits of Chopin's life and soundbites of his accomplishments.

The good city of Warsaw has devised one more way to bring Chopin to the people, and that’s by way of fifteen musical benches that have been placed at key sites connected with his life. Made of cast iron and polished black stone these benches, designed by Professor Jerzy Porębski, feature a button which when pressed unleash a thirty second torrent of Chopin. They also come equipped with a route map as well as brief explanations in Polish and English as to the site’s relevance to Chopin. However, that’s not all. These benches see Chopin go techno: each one comes inscribed with a QR code – scan it and you’ll be rewarded to free access to Chopin melodies, facts, figures and photographs.
