Godaisan Park, Kochi ???? 高知市●五台山 ???? Japan As It Truly Is
The view from atop Godaisan (Mt. Godai, 五台山) in Kochi City is one of the most picturesque you will ever see.
There is also a nice flower garden there, the Chikurinji Temple, as well as a few cats to greet you. While not easy to reach at the top of a mountain, the view more than makes it worth it.
One way to get to the summit is the My Yu bus, which goes from Kochi Station to Godaisan and Katsurahama Beach.

Ritsurin Koen (栗林公園) is a landscape garden located Takamatsu City, built by the local feudal lords during the early Edo Period. It is often suggested that Ritsurin Koen deserves a spot on the list of the three most beautiful gardens of Japan alongside Kanazawa's Kenrokuen, Mito's Kairakuen, and Okayama's Korakuen. This park got three stars from Michelin Guide in 2009 as a worth visiting place.
The large park features many ponds, hills, historic trees and beautiful pavilions divided into a Japanese style garden in the south and western style garden in the north. The gardens are placed in front of wooded Mt. Shiun which serves as a wonderful background and great example of borrowed scenery. In the park there are a number of facilities including a folk museum, shops and a few rest houses where you can take a break and enjoy some refreshments amidst the beauty of the garden. Of particular note is the Kikugetsu-tei teahouse in the southwest part of the gardens where, for a small fee, you can enter and enjoy some tea on its verandas while overlooking the ponds.

Hidden Japan ~Iya-Valley and other Wonders Tokushima,Shikoku~
Travel writer , who is an editor at large for National Geographic Traveler magazine, introduces the Iya region.
The Iya Valley is located in the central part of the island of Shikoku, the smallest of Japan’s four principal islands. In this secluded and little-visited area, deep gorges have carved out green mountains, creating a magnificent landscape. Perched precariously on the steep face of the mountains, villages are dotted with traditional thatched-roof farmhouses and compact plots of crops. Completely isolated for a thousand years, this spectacular region has remained untouched by modern life. These landscapes as well as the life of the villages were introduced to Western readers by American author and Japan expert Alex Kerr in his acclaimed book, “Lost Japan.” Recently, Iya has begun to attract international attention. In 2018, it was the only Japanese region chosen by Travel + Leisure magazine for its list of 50 top travel destinations. Visitor highlights include walking across the swaying kazurabashi vine bridge, traveling by boat through the dramatic Oboke gorge, lazing in hot springs looking onto the forested mountains, and staying in renovated traditional farmhouses. This video also introduces the Iya Valley’s special cultural treasures, from delicious buckwheat soba noodles to lovely indigo-dyed textiles to elegant handmade Japanese umbrellas. We hope this video will inspire you to include the Iya Valley in your travel plans!
