Haunted Finland : The Ancient Ghosts of Hollola Church
A site survey and view of the church interior. Submitted by Jukka Sandberg of Finland. St Mary's Church is located in Hollola, southern Finland. Built between 1495 - 1510, the entire church was almost totally destroyed by a savage fire in 1642.
St Mary Church and its Graveyard, indeed the entire site upon which they lie is a haunted site. Haunted by the original inhabitants. The site at Hollola has been proven to be an Iron Age Fort. Though it is quite possible that human habitation on the site at Hollola dates back to Neolithic times.
The Ghosts which haunt this site are from the Iron Age. These hauntings run to a pattern. Most Ghost sightings have been witnessed on Midsummer, The Summer Solstice. They appear about a week before and built up to Midsummer, and vanish away about a week after Midsummer. As such they have been called The Summer Solstice Ghosts of Hollola Church.
Most likely seen on Midsummer evening, in the balmy glow of twilight, when the shadows lengthen across the Graveyard, when the sun has set but all is still bright, when the large clouds of midges fill the air - this is when to view the Paranormal direct in the face. These Ghostly ancients, wander silently as part of a group, as they did when they lived there, thousands of years ago. These Ghosts do not seem to notice the living, neither do they try and communicate with the living. They are benign in nature.

Haunted Iron Age Forts : The Summer Solstice Ghosts of Hollola Church
Uploaded 20th June 2016 - Midsummer day. Summer Solstice - the first to coincide with a full moon since 1967. Submitted by Jukka Sandberg of Finland. A survey of the haunted ancient site.
St Mary's Church stands in Hollola, southern Finland. Built between 1495 - 1510 AD it is one of 86 stone churches built during the Medieval period in Finland. In its history St Mary's Church has had its share of calamity. It was once decorated with highly ornate painted wood panels depicting scenes of Jesus and Heaven. Many of these were destroyed during the Reformation. Also in 1642, a large fire nearly destroyed the church completely - its entire roof having to be replaced.
St Mary's Church of Hollola is a haunted site. Not haunted by the Ghosts of the deceased who lie in the earth of the graveyard - but by much older Ghosts. The site upon which Hollola Church sits is ancient in origin - dating back at least as far as the Iron Age - possibly even Neolithic in origin. Archaeological digs have proven this site was an Iron Age Fort.
The Ghosts which haunt this site are Iron Age in origin - the original inhabitants of the site. Given the age, these Ghosts are not seen very often, neither are they known to try and communicate with the living. But the optimum time to glimpse a view of these shy Ghosts is during The Summer Solstice, Midsummer Day. The same date as this clip was uploaded. Late evening upon Midsummer day, when the shadows are lengthening, this is the best time to see the fleeting Spirits. They are thought to be benign in nature.
There are other haunted Necropoli in Finland which hold far more malicious and malignant Spirits.

Tropical turquoise water... IN FINLAND! Kiikunlähde - Hollola
To add to the series: I have been living here 10 years and never heard of it! What an amazing place. It is not far away from the city and you don't have to walk much from the parking. The colour of this water seems better suited for a Caribbean beach than for a lake in the middle of a forest in Finland. This spring is the largest spring in Finland (according to the city's webpage). It is 400 meters long and 100 meters wide Its 14 springs discharge approximately 7,000 m3 / day. At the northern end is a dam that has raised the surface of the spring pond a few meters, creating a sufficient waterfall and a steady year-round flow to the mill and sawmill adjacent to the dam. The water continues its journey along Kiikunoja to Vesijärvi near Hollola Church. The wate comes form the spring at a temperature of about 5 degrees, so it won't freeze in winter and will always be very cool in the summer.
Part of the area is private area so be careful no to cross the line. We made a mistake and passed a barrier to get close to the lake. DON'T DO THAT! We thought it would be ok since the private area signs ended on the edge of this path we took, but upon closer inspection of the information near the spring, we realize the are is closed so it can recover from the damage tourists made a few years back. It was not our intention to damage the area. Don't do what we did!
But by all means, if you are in the area, make a small detour and visit this place. It is really nice and of unexpected beauty. It will be a 40 minutes detour if you are driving on the motorway towards or from Helsinki.
