Ljubljana is a great night out - Slovenia's Capital City
We arrived in Ljubljana late in the afternoon on a Thursday and it was getting dark so we didn't have much time to explore. We quickly grabbed a pizza and then walked into the city centre after checking in our anything-but-luxury AirBNB. If you're wondering why I chose this AirBNB. It was actually listed as an 'entire house', but when we arrived, it wasn't, it was a rundown hostel in some guy called Milovan's house. We were pretty annoyed by this as it got the trip of to a bit of a negative start.
You'll spot later on in the video that we talk about Milovan's kitchen. He kept telling us the kitchen was open 24/7, which seemed very odd. We also couldn't find the kitchen. We opened all of the doors, went into the buildings outside, went upstairs, but there was no kitchen to be found. Milovan's kitchen doesn't exist.
Drunk cam appears at the end again - ignore us, we're drunk and stupid. Finland doesn't exist. Milovan's kitchen doesn't exist. But Ljubljana definitely exists and it's a great city.
Jokes aside, Ljubljana is a great night out. Everybody in Slovenia seems to be very friendly, and I'll definitely be returning without getting too drunk.
We found out that Captain's Cabin was voted as the best bar in Ljubljana, so we headed over and had a great time there. It's not as cheap as you may expect, but it's still cheaper than in the UK.
Oh yeah, not sure how to pronounce Ljubljana properly, so we decided to call it Lallana, or anything that kinda rhymed with Ljubljana.

Ljubljana's central market
The City of Ljubljana has decided to modernise Ljubljana's central market, build an underground garage and set up a friendly place for both visitors and sellers. We received the prestigious international Gubbio award in the category of architecture for the renovation of Congress Square and the revitalisation of archaeological parks. The square regained its importance as a central area for numerous cultural and sporting events. It is also a place where foreign dignitaries are hosted. The renovation of the central market has a similar significance for its future development. The purpose of the renovation is to improve living and working conditions, as well as the quality of urban space in the vicinity of the Dragon Bridge and Plečnik’s market. At the same time, it is important to preserve cultural heritage and everything that one of the most eminent locations in Ljubljana has to offer. So, what is new? The indoor market will be located in the atrium of the extension of the Mahr House, while the city administration will be located on the upper floors. The relocation of the textile market to the indoor market will facilitate additional space for the central market and make it even greener. The parking garage will provide better working conditions in the central market area, easier access for visitors and a car park for residents. Environmental impacts will also be reduced, as exhaust gases will be diverted through the roof of the extension. Ljubljana has been following the trends of other green European cities that provide car parks at the edge of pedestrian zones. The central market will operate smoothly, with only minor adjustments during construction. The textile market will be located at Petkovšek Embankment, plants on Butcher’s Bridge, vegetables and fruits at Pogačarjev Square, and at Ciril Metod and Krek Square, if necessary. The part of the market located in Plečnik’s Arcades will operate smoothly, as it lies a sufficient distance from the construction site. When the project is finished, it will facilitate a bigger green market according to modern sanitary standards, new premises in the Mahr House and a museum centre depicting archaeology of medieval Ljubljana; and at the same time traffic and logistics will be regulated. The current parking area will become a lively place with a wide range of services for all visitors and particularly for you, the citizens of Ljubljana.
Ljubljana Vacation Travel Guide | Expedia
Step into the narrow streets of the town center, where instead of traffic you’ll hear bicycle bells, and instead of gridlock you’ll find riverbanks lined with cafes, pubs and historic architecture.
Ride the funicular to Ljubljana Castle, a beloved landmark that has been standing above the city for more than 900 years. Then head toPreseren Square, named after France Preseren, whose poem “A Toast” became the country’s national anthem.
Stroll to nearbyCongress Squareand Park Zvezda. From here, you can see theUniversity of Ljubljana, one of the largest places of learning in Europe.
Visit the Slovene Philharmonic Orchestra building, one of the world’s oldest musical institutions with famous connections to composers such as Beethoven and Brahms.
Cross the Dragon Bridge, famous for its fearsome dragon statues, who’s tails are said to twitch when a pure and untouched maiden is nearby.
Pick up a free bicycle rental and follow the Jokopic Promenade to the Tivoli Castle and check out the print collection at the International Centre of Graphic Arts.
Immerse yourself in art of a different kind in the Metelkova Mesto, a funky cultural zone, which hosts more than 1500 events each year.
Ljubljana may have taken a dragon as its symbol but unlike that mythical beast, this city is welcoming, warm and delighted to share its treasures with visitors.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

V triu »3 of Sound« svoje ustvarjanje združujejo trije nizozemski glasbeniki -- pianist Roger Spees, vokalistka in glasbena pedagoginja Caroline Schmitt ter zvočni terapevt Peter Gouw. Njihove intuitivne glasbene improvizacije združujejo različne glasbene tradicije s sodobnimi izraznimi možnostmi zvoka. Njihovo izvajanje sproščujoče glasbe ustvarja svet kristalnih zvočnih vibracij, duhovnih navdihov in meditativne sprostitve.

Christmas in Ljubljana
Hi guys!,
last December I’ve been in Ljubljana, a place that has preserved its small-town friendliness and, at the same time, has everything that all the larger capitals have.
Ljubliana is a little wonderful place to visit if you love Christmas lights and markets: in fact, this city is known for having one of the most original lights displays in a lot of streets and squares, in the castle, in churches and bridges.
Christmas markets includes numerous food and drinks stalls, in the streets there are several smaller fairs, such as the Christmas Art Market and ARTish, as well as the numerous city centre shops, offering fashion clothing and accessories, slovenian arts and crafts, and local culinary delights.
Now I’m going to tell you the five things that you have to see, or to do, into this city:
One: The Presernov Trg, the Ljubljana’s central public square on the riverside on the edge of the Old Town. The square forms the central hub of the city where several important roads converge. Here you can see magnificent buildings including: the art nouveau Urbanc House, which houses the centromerkur department store; Kresija Palace that houses municipal offices, the city’s visitor center and the Kresija Gallery, and the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation.
At the center of the square stands a statue of the square’s namesake, Slovenia’s national poet: France Preseren.
Two: Take a walk along the river Ljubljanica, where you can find the Triple Bridge (the most frequently used bridge in the city that connects the main square in the new town, with the Old Town and the market); the dragon bridge (the dragon is the symbol of Ljubliana), and the Butcher's Bridge. The area can best be experienced on a relaxing and romantic tourist boat cruise down the river;
Three: Hike to The Ljubljana medieval Castle, whose Outlook Tower offers some of the most beautiful views of the city. The castle houses several museum exhibitions and presentations including, among others, Slovenian History, The Prison and Virtual Castle.
Four: visit the Tivoli Park, the city's largest park, a popular place to relax and spend time with friends and family, where you can find interesting exhibitions of large-format photographs held there on a regular basis;
Five: visit museums and galleries, like the Museum of Modern Art, the National Gallery of Slovenija, the City Museum of Ljubljana, or the Museum of Illusions.
So, have a nice holidays in Ljubljana and… enjoy!

Top best places to visit in Ljubljana, Slovenia
Ljubljana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia.
Ljubljana has a nickname Little Prague because it is a charming town full of artists, museums, galleries, restaurants and cafes.
Prešeren Square, the central square in the city, formed in the 17th century, when the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation was built.
At the eastern side of the square, the Statue of France Preseren, for the greatest poet in the nation, was erected.
The Triple Bridge connects the square with the old medieval town.
In this historical part of the city is situated St Nicholas's Cathedral, one of the most important churches in Slovenia.
Also in the old town, but a bit away from the main tourist area, is the St James’s Church which houses beautiful altars.
The seat of the City Municipality of Ljubljana, the Town Hall, stands at major square in the center, close to Ljubljana Cathedral.
The Parliament of Slovenia, another government building, is located in front of the Republic Square, a place with a significant importance for Slovene history.
The University of Ljubljana, the largest and the oldest university in the country, brings together students to whom the city owes much of its youthful character.
A stone throw from the university is one of the most important national, educational and cultural institutions of Slovenia, the National and University Library.
Ljubljana is the cultural center that can be seen at every step, besides many open space exhibitions, there are also many museums, such as:
The International Center of Graphic Arts in Tivoli Park.
The country’s oldest scientific and cultural institution, the National Museum.
The National Gallery, an exhibition hall that hosts the best national art.
The Museum of Modern Art which presents art works from the last century.
It’s also worth a visit the Metelkova City, once a military barrack, now a self-declared autonomous culture place.
The Museum of Contemporary Art, with many present day paintings and sculptures. In the same neighborhood as the Ethnographic Museum which exhibits multinational artifacts.
The Ljubljana Castle, the city’s most striking landmark, is a medieval castle built in the 12th century on the summit of Castle Hill. It is a tourist sight and a picturesque venue for events.
From the castle’s tower stretches a magnificent view of all the city.
A good place to see the town from other perspectives is from the Skyscraper.
On top of the building is a bar with excellent views.
