I went on a coastal hike around Clam Harbour in Nova Scotia, Canada to visit The Devil's Oven. I'm staying at my parent's cottage doing renovations and decided to take a break and go to Clam Harbour Beach for a hike while I'm still here in Nova Scotia to enjoy the amazing fall weather ????????????☀️

Time Lapse of my walk to the Devil's Oven in Clam Harbour Beach Provincial Park in Nova Scotia, Canada. I shut off my GoPro while I ate a snack and then the battery died before I got back to the parking lot.

So, to end the summer beach season off on a good note, we took the kids to Clam Harbour Beach. This is the beach that hosts the annual sand castle building competition. It has over a mile of white sand and huge waves crashing into the coast.

We came to walk along the sandy beach at Clam Harbour Nova Scotia a week before their annual Sand Castle Festival.
At low tide, you can see that it's a nice walk, once we get to the edge of the beach, we can continue to hike along the shoreline.

Digging Up Calms in Digby, Nova Scotia - What's Clamming?
We went clamming!
Cory and Yuki decided a couple of years ago to escape the 9-5 grind and build their own life in Digby (Cory's hometown).
Yuki makes awesome sushi ( And Cory goes clamming about every day when the beaches are open. They also both hunt during the fall and winter months.
We joined Cory and Yuki on the beach in Digby to do some clamming for ourselves. When we arrived Cory was already way out on the beach doing his thing. And we joined Yuki (and Oland & Guinness, the hounds) to do some amateur clamming ourselves.
These guys absolutely PLAY EVERYDAY! Being part of their lifestyle for a few of hours was really cool! Thank you guys!

Clam Harbour Beach Sandcastle Competition 2017 Part 2

My wife and I had the pleasure of visiting Clam Harbour Beach Provincial Park for the 39th Annual Sand Castle Competition this summer. We ventured over 2 hours to get there to be greeted by fog but also many happy and hard working sand sculpture and sand castle builders. We had talked about going to this competition for many years and we were glad we finally got the chance to check it out.
It was a fun day walking through the various sculptures and castles and as an amateur photographer I attempted to capture as many exhibits as I could to make this video.
I sincerely apologize to anybody whose sculpture or castle was left out of this video but I'm new at this and still learning how to make videos for YouTube.
I also had a very hard time editing this video with YouTube's Video Editor and that is why this video is in 2 parts. The editor kept giving me errors when I attempted to put both parts into one video.
Please watch both parts as they are part and parcel of our fun day at the Clam Harbour Beach Sand Castle Competition 2017.

Episode 38: Memory Lane Village - Part One
We're taking a trip out of Downtown Halifax but still within the Halifax Regional Municipality. Our destination is the community of Lake Charlotte in the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia.
Within minutes from Clam Harbour, there resides a recreation of a 1940's-era community called, Memory Lane Village. Maintained by the Lake Charlotte Heritage Society, Memory Lane Village features various buildings that were originally located in various places along the Eastern Shore. Structures range from a church, schoolhouse, General Store, boathouse, dwellings, barns and antique vehicles. Everything in village serves as a reminder of life during World War II-era of Nova Scotia.
Memory Lane Village is open during the summer months. It hosts a multitude of festivities from music concerts to an antique car showcase.

Clam Harbour Beach Sandcastle Contest takes place annually at Clam Harbour Beach Provincial Park. Sand, sea and sun unite a day of challenge and fun. This nationally known festival brings hundreds of contestants and thousands of spectators to one of the best beaches in Nova Scotia. Good food such as mussels and chowders, prized for best castle & best sculpture. Everyone can join in the fun, from wee ones to teams from corportations. I wrote this song for the Ocean. Love the Ocean and the sandy beach! I only get to spend time at the Ocean once or maybe twice a year, if I'm lucky.
I really enjoyed Clam Harbour Beach last summer. My daughter and I had a wonderful time splashing in the waves, playing on the sand, and soaking in the sunshine.
Before we left Clam Harbour on the last day of our Nova Scotia holiday I must admit I shed a couple of tears on the sandy beach.
This song has a real 'longing' feel to it, because I really do miss Clam Harbour and the Eastern Shore. Thankfully, we will be back there again in August.
