Lake Padden Park in Bellingham, WA, USA
Trip to Lake Padden Park in Bellingham, Washington, United States on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. The park is a popular tourist destination that features numerous picnic areas and playgrounds. Many trails are located around the lake and the surrounding forest area that are used for hiking and biking. A public golf course is located along the eastern shore. A 1000-foot ridge separates the lake from I-5 (Interstate 5 highway) to the south.
The park entrances on the north provide easy drive-up access to playgrounds, a golf course, horse trails, picnic pavilions, swimming and fishing beaches, grass lawns, a boat launch dock, tennis courts, ball fields, trailheads as well as a tiny fishing dock. The 2.6-mile loop around Lake Padden provides a nice forest experience sputtered with occasional rock outcrops coupled with beautiful lakeside views. There are two picnic shelters at the park that are available for reservation. Check availability @

Bellingham's Boulevard Park by ExplorationsNorthwest.com
This segment from Explorations Northwest details the amenities and recent improvements to Boulevard Park and the South Bay Trail along beautiful Bellingham Bay, on Puget Sound in Northwest Washington.
In addition to ample parking, large lawns, and picnic tables, Boulevard Park also has a few small beaches. There's also a new stage for a host of events, including the extremely popular Evening Concert Series. The Woods Coffee is another wonderful addition to the park.
Boulevard Park is situated along the South Bay Trail, which leads to downtown Bellingham and historic Fairhaven, via the new over-the-water walkway and Taylor Avenue Dock. The park and trails feature absolutely stunning views of the San Juan Islands and Fairhaven bay.
Boulevard Park is really the perfect place to start an adventure, whether you are just planning a leisurely stroll with the dog or you have something more energetic in mind.

Best of Bellingham, Washington - Oyster Dome Hike
The Oyster Dome - a great hike overlooking the San Juan Islands in the Chuckanut Mountains near Bellingham, Washington is a great way to kick off the spring/summer hiking season in the Pacific Northwest.
The weather is getting better and better - and it looks like Spring is here to stay.
Catch the Pacific Northwest Trail right off Route 11 and head up (I had forgotten how much uphill is in this trail) until you have a choice to either head right towards the Samish Overlook or left towards the Oyster Dome and Lily/Lizard Lakes.
Beautiful scenery along the way - small flowing streams, tall trees and splendid views of the Islands.
Once at the Dome, don't get too close to the edge, it's a long way down the cliff - but sit down, enjoy the views, have a picnic, chit chat with fellow hikers, watch the Bald Eagles flying or just sit back, chill and suntan.
There's no life like the good life, I like to say. This is a great hike to kick off the sunny season!
Enjoy!
