We stayed at Buffalo Bill State Park over Memorial Day Weekend while visiting Yellowstone National Park. We stayed at the North Fork Campground. We got a lot of rain one night and it washed big boulders down on the road.

Cody Wyoming, so much to do, so little time
Cody is a tiny little town in Wyoming, but there's so much to do while you're there. While in Cody, we visited to Cody Night Rodeo and the Buffalo Bill Dam, hiked up Sheep Mountain and watched a Western Shootout at Buffalo Bill's Irma Hotel.
As we showed in our last video, we also visited the Heart Mountain Internment Camp.
While we camped at Buffalo Bill State Park for nearly two weeks, we didn't have time to see and do everything that Cody has to offer.

This video was shot in the Shoshone River Canyon and other local waterways. Our local rivers are an amazing recreational resource to both local and nonresident explorers. Whitewater enthusiasts regularly visit Cody to explore our rivers, and these visitors are quick to remind us how incredibly lucky we are to have a river like this that flows right through town!

Its resemblance of the Holy City of Jerusalem, is how this area got it's name. To catch a nice view of this 'holy city', you can find it between Cody, Wyoming and Yellowstone.
It has been said that this awesome structure and scene was created by fire and ice, over 50 million years ago. But regardless of how it came to fruition, you'll never want to pass this by without stopping and taking it all in.
Some geologists have determined that hot, volcanic ash helped to form these as well. After slowly cooling, water and run-off streams would form what we see now as the outline of a holy city in Wyoming.
Cody Wyoming RV Stay & Shoshone Fly Fishing & Wild Horses
I'm way behind on videos, but we have been winding our way toward Glacier NP, but we needed a place to stay over Labor Day. Campgrounds are usually crowded, especially those near national parks. We found an inexpensive campground with beautiful views at Buffalo Bill State Park just outside of Cody, WY. The area has a lot to offer from wild horses on BLM land east of town to historic museums in town, as well as my favorite, fly fishing on the Shoshone. Make sure and subscribe if you would like to follow along with Terri, George(me) & Gizzy on our adventures as we wander the country living full time in our red, 2002 Newmar Dutch Star, diesel pusher RV. I swear, we have to be the only people in a red class A motorhome.

Anyway, I hope you will join us as we wander about. Thanks for watching, subscribing, commenting, etc.

Best Place to Vacation/Stay Near Yellowstone National Park - UXU Ranch near Cody Wyoming
From scenic horseback riding, fishing (the video was taken in May the water will settle down and be crystal clear after the spring run-off is done), hiking, wildlife, photography, great food, peace and quiet, and genuine cowboys and cowgirls that can tell you a yarn or two.
The UXU Ranch is nestled between the Washakie Wilderness to the South and the North Absaroka Wilderness to the North (wilderness.net for more information about wilderness) along the North fork of the Shoshone River and in the Shoshone National Forest. Just West of the UXU Ranch is Mummy Cave (while heading towards Yellowstone from UXU when you come to the first bridge after UXU Ranch park at the parking area on the right just before the bridge. The cave is easily found by following the trail to the small wooden fence.
My time there was greatly enhanced by taking a 2 hour horse back ride on Friday and a 1 hour horseback ride on Saturday. The views were amazing and they have options for trails of all skill levels. They also have options up to an all day horseback ride (or even multiple days). Currently (as of May 2018) the price for the 1 hour ride was $45 and the 2 hour ride was $65 which honestly was a bargain as I really enjoyed my time with Pooch (the cowboy in front of me) and his daughter Sherry. I definitely felt like Billy Crystal in City Slickers with how smooth the two of them looked while riding a horse but the two of them made me feel nothing but confidence despite not having been on a horse since the early 1990's.
If you go, which I recommend you do, tell them Captain America sent you! You can make reservations, or call, via their website uxuranch.com and trust me when I say you won't forget a vacation at that ranch. Plus, Theodore Roosevelt is claimed to have stated that from Cody to the East Entrance of Yellowstone is the 50 most beautiful miles in America and this Ranch is very much a part of that stretch for good reason!

Buffalo Bill Dam and Tunnels Near Cody Wyoming!

Buffalo Bill Dam is a concrete arch-gravity dam on the Shoshone River in the U.S. stateof Wyoming. It is named after the famous Wild West figure William Buffalo Bill Cody, who founded the nearby town of Cody and owned much of the land now covered by the reservoir formed by its construction. The dam is part of the Shoshone Project, successor to several visionary schemes promoted by Cody to irrigate the Bighorn Basin and turn it from a semi-arid sagebrush-covered plain to productive agricultural land.[3] Known at the time of its construction as Shoshone Dam, it was renamed in 1946 to honor Cody.

Buffalo Bill Dam When completed in 1910, Buffalo Bill Dam stood as an engineering marvel, one of the first concrete arch dams built in the United States. At 325 feet high, it also was the highest dam in the world (surpassing New York’s Croton Dam). The dam was part of the Shoshone Project, which comprised a system of tunnels, canals, diversion dams, and Buffalo Bill Reservoir. Today, the project irrigates more than 93,000 acres, where principal crops are beans, alfalfa, oats, barley, and sugar beets.
