Anthem of Rhode Island USA
Rhode Island's It for Me
Written by Charlie Hall
Music by Maria Day
Arranged by Kathryn Chester
Chorus
I've been to every state we have,
and I think I'm inclined to say
that Rhody stole my heart:
You can keep the forty-nine.
Herring gulls that dot the sky,
blue waves that paint the rocks,
water rich with Neptune's life,
the boats that line the docks.
I see the lighthouse flickering
to help the sailors see.
There's a place for everyone:
Rhode Island's It for Me.
Rhode Island, oh Rhode Island
surrounded by the sea.
Some people roam the earth for home;
Rhode Island's It for Me.
I love the fresh October days,
the buzz on College Hill,
art that moves an eye to tear,
a jewelers special skill.
Icicles refract the sun,
snow falling gracefully.
Some search for a place that's warm:
Rhode Island's It for Me!
Rhode Island, oh Rhode Island
surrounded by the sea.
Some people roam the earth for home;
Rhode Island's It for Me.
The skyline piercing Providence,
the State House dome so rare.
residents who speak their minds;
no longer unaware!
Roger Williams would be proud to see his colony,
so don't sell short this precious port:
Rhode Island's It for Me!
Rhode Island, oh Rhode Island
surrounded by the sea.
Some people roam the earth for home;
Rhode Island's It for Me.
Rhode Island, oh Rhode Island
surrounded by the sea.
Some people roam the earth for home

rown University is a private, Ivy League research university in Providence, Rhode Island, United States. Founded in 1764 as The College in the English Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations, Brown is the seventh-oldest institution of higher education in the United States and one of the nine Colonial Colleges established before the American Revolution.
At its foundation, Brown was the first college in the United States to accept students regardless of their religious affiliation. Its engineering program, established in 1847, was the first in the Ivy League. In 1971, Brown's coordinate women's institution, Pembroke College, was fully merged into the university. Pembroke Campus now operates as a place for dorms and classrooms.
Undergraduate admissions is highly selective, with an acceptance rate of 9 percent for the class of 2020, according to the university.The University comprises The College, the Graduate School, Alpert Medical School, the School of Engineering, the School of Public Health, and the School of Professional Studies (which includes the IE Brown Executive MBA program). Buses in Providence, Rhode Island - RIPTA (Downtown)
Kennedy Plaza, in downtown Providence, serves as a transportation hub for local public transit as well as a departure point for Peter Pan and Greyhound bus lines. Public transit is managed by Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA). Through RIPTA alone Kennedy Plaza serves over 71,000 people a day. The majority of the area covered by RIPTA is served by traditional buses. Of particular note is the East Side Trolley Tunnel running under College Hill, the use of which is reserved for RIPTA buses. RIPTA also operates the Providence LINK, a system of tourist trolleys in downtown Providence. From 2000 to 2008, RIPTA operated a seasonal ferry to Newport between May and October.
Westminster Street Tour - Downtown Providence, RI
I don't go to Downtown Providence very often, but Westminster Street's hipster reputation finally drew me in. Starting at Empire Street, my plan was to walk Westminster Street's entire length, while stopping in at Small Point Café and Symposium Books.
Westminster Street was clearly a vital part of Downtown Providence until the 1970's. With the city's industrial decline, Westminster Street found itself underutilized and in need of renewal.
Rebranded as Downcity Arts District, Westminster Street began a slow but steady resurrection. Fast forward to 2016 and Westminster Street flaunts the title of trendiest block in Providence.
My first real stop was Symposium Books. The place immediately reminded me of Strand in New York City, with the shelves of books on the sidewalk. I like browsing used books, and almost always come home with a new discovery. Symposium also specializes in records and it looked like they had new books as well.
Westminster Street is home to some fine architecture, with the Superman Building and Arcade best known. A trip into the Arcade revealed a beehive of activity. I especially enjoyed Lovecraft Arts and Sciences, dedicated to the work of H.P. Lovecraft. The micro lofts on the second and third floors of the Arcade were of particular interest. According to local media, all of the lofts are occupied and there's even a waiting list.
Soon after pointing the camera toward the Arcade's sun drenched ceiling, the battery died. I was able to film a few more short clips to wrap up everything up, but the ending is a bit crude.

As a tea lover, I was especially glad to order a pot of British Breakfast from Small Point Café. The huge chocolate cookie was just what I needed to hold me until dinnertime. Small Point has a mix of table and leather chairs. Some customers held meetings at the café while other creative types were deep into their laptops.
