BLUEBIRD ARRIVES AT CONISTON
On her way to Coniston again, Donald Campbell's record holding Bluebird. One fine day in the next few weeks, he aims to take her out, in an attempt on his own mark of 216.25 miles an hour.

Lake District Country Walk Coniston Old Railway Line and Lake Shore round
Our video is a guided circular walk in the Lake District. Starting from Coniston we follow the Old Dismantled Railway Line then make our way to Coniston Water shore via Torver Common Wood. We return to Coniston by the shore of the lake. This is an easy walk on good well walked paths, tracks, tarmac and some minor road.
Elevation: approx lowest point 43.2m (141.7ft) approx highest point 122.80m (402.9ft) approx ascent 125.4m (411.4ft).
Approx 5.5 miles allow 2 – 2½ hours using OS Explorer Map OL6, The English Lakes South-Western area. This walk is anti-clockwise.
Start Point: roadside in Coniston village.

End of a lovely weekend, with a long walk down the side of Lake Coniston, starting at Waterhead and walking to Sunny Bank to discover the ferry doesn't operate until 1st April and then walked back to Waterhead. Thankfully it was gorgeous weather.

Steam Yacht Gondola - Coniston Water - 01/06/17
The steam yacht Gondola is a rebuilt Victorian, screw-propelled, steam-powered passenger vessel on Coniston Water, England. Originally launched in 1859, she was built for the steamer service carrying passengers from the Furness Railway and from the Coniston Railway. She was in commercial service until 1936 when she was retired, being converted to a houseboat in 1946. In 1979, she was rebuilt and is now back in regular public service operated by the National Trust.
