Connaught place is one of the largest commercial, financial and business centre's in New Delhi, India. The former location of the head quarters of the British Raj, it is counted as one of the top heritage structures in the capital city of Delhi.
Today it is the 4th most expensive office destination and the 5th highest priced market in the world. Connaught Places, is instantly recognizable on any map of Delhi, as a big circle in the middle with radial roads spreading out in all directions, it house some legendary restaurants like Embassy, and cinemas like Odeon, Regal and Rivoli, (also Rivoli is now PVR Rivoli, there is also PVR Plaza which is in CP).

The Central Park in CP or Connaught place has ben rebuilt in 2005/6 after the construction of the Delhi Metro station, Rajiv Chowk, which in a way is like the heart of the metro network in Delhi, it is also the interchange for the yellow and blue lines of the metro and is one of the largest and busiest stations on the entire network. Today, right above the station in Central park, cultural events are regularly hosted. CP, is a hub, most youngsters planning an evening out do connect here, and then kick off the evening. The list of restaurants, street food and brands like Keventers all call CP home.

Aerial view of Jeevan Bharti building, Statesman and Gopaldas buildings at inner circle can also be seen in the clip. New Delhi railway station is very much close to Connaught place and is clearly visible in aerial shot.
Connaught Place is one of the largest financial, commercial and business centers in Delhi. It is often abbreviated as CP and houses the headquarters of several Indian firms. Its surroundings occupy a place of pride, counted among the top heritage structures of the city. It was developed as a showpiece of Lutyens' Delhi featuring a Central Business District. Named after the Duke of Connaught, the construction work was started in 1929 and completed in 1933. It was renamed as the Rajiv Chowk after the late Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Today, Connaught Place is one of the most vibrant business districts of Delhi. It is the fifth most expensive office destination in the world, according to global property consultant CBRE Group.
The area is instantly recognizable on any map of Delhi, being the big circle in the middle with radial roads spreading out in all directions, like spokes on a wheel. Eight separate roads lead out from Connaught's inner circle, named Parliament Street and Radial Roads 1 through 7. Twelve different roads lead out from Connaught Circus, the outer ring; the most well-known of these is Janpath, the continuation of Radial Road 1. It is a logically planned area and houses one of India's first under ground market-Palika Bazaar (Municipal Market), named after nagarpalika. The Outer Circle is known as the Connaught Circus (officially Indira Chowk),having rows of restaurants, shops and hotels, the Middle Circle has offices and small eating outlets.
The central park of Connaught Place has long been a venue for cultural events. In 2005-06, it was rebuilt after the construction of the Delhi Metro station below it. That station, Rajiv Chowk, is the interchange for the Yellow and Blue lines of the Metro and one of the largest and busiest stations in the network.Connaught Place today plays host to various cultural programs in the central park area . Also the only Starbucks Coffee store in Delhi is in connaught place in Hamilton house A block .The store within a few days of opening has attracted a huge no of people just to try Starbucks which in turn leads to more people coming to CP .In January 2013 CP also hosted the 'dilli ke pakhwaan' on Baba Kharak Singh Marg which proved to be a great success.

During this food journey of Connaught place, Delhi, i enjoyed Bhature chole, Dpauls coffee, Amrtisari kulcha , south Indian Masala dosa and much more.

1. Bhogal chole bhature wala: Old and famous Bhature chole shop,
Address: Behind 3/84,scindia house, Janpath. You can ask anyone by shop name if you are at Scindia house.

5. Bengali sweet house: Old and famous sweet shop for Bengali sweets and chaat. I enjoyed Dahi bhalla chaat at this restaurant.

6. Momos: This joint is famous among college students, serves momos at cheap price.

If you are coming from Lalit hotel, cross the flyover, take left for Gandhi market then go straight, you will see Gandhi market on your left- continue straight. Once you reach circle, you will notice this shop on your right.
Timings: 3 pm to 10 pm.
7.Shukla Paan Palace: Serves many varieties of paan- including fire paan. For the first time i tried fire paan, it was exciting and fun filled experience.

USP of this south indian food joint is price, value and taste. Masala dosa at Rs 50 that has authentic taste, place has open kitchen.

11. Nizam’s Kathi kabab: Oldest shop of kathi kabab rolls in Delhi, easy to reach landmark.
One of the few restaurant that cooks non veg in kathi- which is a wooden stick in place of iron rods that many restaurants use.

Landmark: Behind plaza cinema.
Nearest metro station: Rajiv chowk, gate number 1 & 2, B block.

12. Kaleva: Famous sweet shop of Connaught place. It is at a distance of about 2 kms from Rajiv chowk metro station.
Address: Kaleva- 109, Bangla sahib road,Gole market, connaught place.
Reason to visit: Hygiene along with good quality stuff

13. Wenger’s: This bakery at connaught place is very old, there is board outside the shop that states: opened 1926. Lot of people appreciate this place for its high quality bakery stuff.
Address: A22, Radial road number 3, block A. Connaught place, New Delhi.
Timings: 11 am to 7.45 pm.

14. Pandey’s paan: One of the oldest paan shop of Delhi, in existence since pre independence.
USP: Paan supplier to the president house.
Price is also reasonable at Rs 30 per Paan. You will get to see photographs of presidents since independence, who have relished paan at this Paan shop.

Landmark: Near RML hospital, distance of about 200 meters from RML hospital circle.
