Because I have several videos from Athens I'm listing all of the museums and things I went to in each one! Hope this all helps! If you have any questions or want to know more about something I have (or haven't) written about, just ask!
Open Air Cinemas
HIGHLY recommended. These are literally ALL over Athens! I'm not the biggest movie person and I really really enjoyed these. You can bring your own food (you won't get in trouble I promise!) and eat your dinner during the show and it's just wonderful in the gorgeous weather. I went to Cine Paris, Thisseon Cinema, and Lykkavitos Cinema. (Pro tip: if you're a student ask about a discount, 2/3 of the theaters I went to had them!)
The Acropolis
Obviously a must! Super important historically and also breath taking if you don't know the history (really think about moving really big rocks carefully without any modern machines, SAY WHAT?) I would recommend going to the Acropolis Museum first (or reading up on it online) because you'll understand why it's important. I went to the Acropolis twice and the second time I had more context and enjoyed it a lot more. (Pro tip: Go either in the morning or about an hour before they close when it won't be too crowded and won't be too hot)
The Acropolis museum
Good for anyone who likes history! If you don't like history, ehhh maybe not for you. (Pro tip: apparently the restaurant is really good and has incredible views of the acropolis! also no pictures are allowed except for on the top floor where you can snap away.)
Plaka Flea Market
If you start at Monastiraki metro station and go from there you'll find some cool bead stores and typical tourist shops but if you keep going you'll be dumped into a little square that has lots of cool antiques and little things for sale! (Pro tip: as this is a crowded place be careful about you belongings)
Shopping near Syntagma Square
Pretty good, although pretty typical if you're from America (but with higher European prices for the same stuff you could get back home). Make sure to check out Korres which is a greek cosmetics brand that is incredibly cheap in Greece and hella expensive back home. (Pro tip: if you end up in syntagma to relax and rest be sure to watch for pooping birds in trees. Trust me.)
Kerameikos Museum:
Again great if you love history or have some of the context for the site. I had a tour with two archaeologists and they knew a ton about the site which was great but I don't think I would have enjoyed the tour otherwise. Definitely got to know your stuff if you want to enjoy it.
Benaki Museum
Lots of stuff from lots of different eras. Very cool to just browse the collection! Everything is laid out nicely so you can go through era by era which I really liked.
Changing of the guard
Hot and crowded. Would not recommend. (Pro tip you can watch the guard walk down the road next to Syntagma and get a really good look at them without ridiculous crowds that will have already gathered in front of parliament!)
Delphi museum (not in Athens, but around an hour and half outside of the city)
Gorgeous. not only are the views stunning, so are the ruins. History helps here but you'll like it no matter what. seriously gorgeous. (Pro tip: there are cats everywhere)

Acropolis (Athens, Greece): Walk Through
The Acropolis of Athens is an ancient citadel located on a rocky hill above the city of Athens and contains the remains of several ancient buildings of great architectural and historic significance, the most famous being the Parthenon (source: Wikipedia).
In this short video I am talking a stroll through the ancient site, having look at Parthenon, the Erechtheion, Odeon of Herodes Atticus, Theatre of Dionysus, and others.
Please subscribe as I am only beginning to show you the world and my adventures through it. :)

Les Editions HORROR VACUI / Paris Presents: TO SPEAK WITH THE WORLD IS TO SPEAK WITH THE ABYSS. AN ABYSS. at The Association of Greek Archaeologists, Ermou 136 /opening Tuesday 22 May 18.00 /23 May-29 May from 18.30 to 21.30
Artists: Anna Byskov , Juliana Borinski , Melanie Sweeny
///
Les Editions HORROR VACUI are a publishing house founded in November 2010 in Paris. Their ambition is to publish collector books of the extravagant works of artists, philosophers and writers.
The term HORROR VACUI comes from Latine and means: the fear of emptiness .
HORROR VACUI repeats itself in Art, Philosophy and Litterature.
All human activities come from HORROR VACUI.
And, above all, religion and the idea of God.
M.S.
Les Editions HORROR VACUI are planning to edit and publish a series of collector books of the works of different artists, philosophers and writers inspired from that existential sentence: TO SPEAK WITH THE WORLD IS TO SPEAK WITH THE ABYSS. AN ABYSS. Each book will be edited in a very limited number.
The edition of collector books will be accompanied by the exhibition of the works of represented artists.

Hosted in Athens // 22-29 May 2012
Hosted in Athens has invited groups of artists and collectives of different background and nationalities to present their activity in various buildings in the center of Athens through a series of events and exhibitions.
The project intends to articulate and organize its potentials in the area of the historical centerof Athens and to involve public and private venues that can host its program in the means of hospitality.
The project seeks to advocate the local art scene and to introduce the work of international artists to the broader Athenian public. To provide the conditions for dialogue and collaboration between groups, communities and individuals and to establish connections between the cities involved emphasizing on the essence of networking and collectivity.
The participatory groups will be able to display their joint collaborations, shows and events in the context of a broader perspective that includes artists, curators, institutions and host venues.
The aim of the project is to underpin the importance of collaboration, the individual participation and the exchange between different art scenes and to indicate new ways of working that embrace the values of exchange and hospitality.
