COORONG NATIONAL PARK | SOUTH AUSTRALIA | 4x4 Adventure
Amazing part of SA at the mouth of the River Murray. Great for fishing and famous for fresh Coorong Mullet. Many camp sites are accessible by 2WD cars so don't let that hold you back, but if you have a 4WD then it adds another dimension. Tip: take the time to read the warnings on the National Parks website and get familiar with the conditions. Sand dunes are dynamic so conditions change constantly. If four wheel driving, lower your tyre pressures when dune or beach driving to get better traction.

Take an aerial flight with the Murray River Bird over the wonderful landscape of Salt Creek and the Southern Coorong Lagoon. The unique view of Tea Tree Crossing while the lagoon is low and normally difficult to cross to the Southern Ocean. Salt Creek offers 4WD, fisherman, kayakers, birdwatchers, mountain biking and much more to experience this remote wilderness region of South Australia at the end of the Murray Darling Basin system. You can access the Coorong and Southern Ocean through the Forty Two mile and Tea Tree crossing where the Ninety Mile Beach is a favourite Surf Fishing spot. It is 4WD only. Further along from Salt Creek there is generally 2WD access to Granites Beach and the Coorong.

The track has a mix of soft sand and hard ground patches so would recommend lowering your tyre pressures before starting.

It is a gateway to the internationally significant wetlands of the Coorong National Park and the mighty Murray River and lakes system.
