Craters of the Moon | Taupo | New Zealand
Welcome to Craters of the Moon | Taupo | New Zealand.
Open 364 days a year (closed Christmas Day)
A walk with a difference, the Craters of the Moon Geothermal Walk - is a unique and memorable experience for young and old. The walk is suited to people of all ages and fitness levels and is wheelchair accessible.
Allow approximately 45 minutes to complete the loop and an additional 20 minutes for the upper lookout (this section is steep and stepped in places but the view is well worth the effort and highly recommended). Craters of the Moon is situated just north of Taupo and is 2km from State Highway 1.

TAUPO ATTRACTIONS: HUKA FALLS, CRATERS OF THE MOON & HOT SPRINGS /// THESTYLEJUNGLE VLOG #18
Taupo attractions are probably one of the main reasons for many tourists to come to this region of the North Island of New Zealand. There are a lot of things to do in Taupo. Obviously, the biggest point of interest here is Great Lake Taupo with a huge selection of activities like sailing, swimming, fishing, jet boat riding and many others. We've been trying them out last time, so we decided to explore what else Taupo has to offer.
In this travel video, we started our day at the Craters of the moon park. This is the park featuring amazing geothermal activities and moon-like views. Definitely one of the most awesome places to go in New Zealand.
Huka falls is the most visited and photographed natural attraction in New Zealand. If you're not sure where to go in Taupo - this is the must-visit place. This 11-metres-high waterfall with stunning turquoise water will never leave you disappointed.
Another reason to Travel to Taupo is a selection of natural hot springs. To experience it we decided to go to Otumuheke Stream at Spa Thermal Park. This place is famous for its scenery - it's located literally on the banks of the Waikato River and is a popular place among both locals and tourists.
Hope you liked this small guide to Taupo attractions and now you are inspired to visit this fantastic region of New Zealand.

NEW ZEALAND ROAD TRIP HUKA FALLS AND CRATERS OF THE MOON
NEW ZEALAND ROAD TRIP HUKA FALLS AND CRATERS OF THE MOON
Another day another waterfall, but not just any waterfall because today we are going to the highest volume of water waterfall in all of New Zealand. The Huka Falls are a set of waterfalls on the Waikato River that drains Lake Taupo in New Zealand. The volume of water flowing through often approaches 220,000 litres per second. We wanted to do it right so we took Huka Falls River Cruise to get right at the base of the falls and it was amazing. One of the other things that New Zealand is known for is all of its geothermal parks. Bubbling mud, hot water geysers, and smokey fields are a very popular and beautiful place to visit so we picked the Craters of the Moon Geothermal Park near Taupo. This was one of the coolest walks ever and where some of the parks smelt very sulfuric the Craters of the Moon's smell wasn't overpowering.
We discovered our passion for traveling, beginning with our destination wedding in Jamaica in 2007. This year we decided to leave everything behind with a goal of traveling to 30 countries. We intend to record our experiences with a day in the life vlog, with the hopes of inspiring others to get out and see the world! Check out our new daily vlog as we start backbacking through Southeast Asia.

This is a geothermal park that you can take a walk around, most of it is a boardwalk. There is an easy loop track which is very accessible, if you cannot climb steps, you can access about 70% of the trail, but you can go around the loop track.
It is very hot and humid there in summer, take a water bottle, sun hat and wear sunscreen. There is a shop, where you buy tickets, with snacks, drinks and tourist souvenirs. Toilets are behind the shop, inside the park.
There are family tickets and single tickets. Open during day time, business hours. This park is on private land.
Huka Falls is free to go and look at. Open to the public at all times.
