Alaska - Crescent Lake
Filmed in September, 2013, at Redoubt Mountain Lodge in Alaska with my cellphone!! Five minutes into our first boat trip, a gust of wind blew my tripod with video camera attached into the lake. Considering the weather was terrible for all but a few hours of our 4-day stay, the cellphone did ok. The bears are huge coastal brown bears. You can read more about them at my website:

My Favorite Hidden Campsite (near midnight) - Kenai Alaska
My Favorite Hidden Campsite - Kenai Alaska. This campsite is located off of a long windy dirt road near Coopers Landing. It is literally hours to the nearest town or hospital. Alone in the wilderness of Alaska. A rocky beach meets a glacier fed lake in between 2 snow capped mountains bigger than anything on the east cost US. This is 10 minutes of bliss... a cold beer by a fire, caribou on the grill, and a 1060 degree view of the Alaskan Wilderness. This is one of my favorite campsites!

EPIC ALASKA, Part 2: Insane wildlife encounters and tons of trout action!!
Part 2 of the series covers our adventures on the days of July 21-23! During our hike up the intense Carter Lake Trail (40% grade in some parts) we encounted a GIANT Moose that was atleast 8 feet tall! She calmly made her way around us and across the trail! We slayed Carter Lake's rainbow, couldn't find a single grayling in Crescent Lake, and the hike back down was much easier! The next day brought a new trail, the Hidden Lake Trail, to a new water, Skilak Lake, and a new taste of Alaskan wildlife, as we turned a blind corner on the trail in and saw a 500lb grizzly bear sitting in our path 20 feet away! She turned and looked at us, then slowly made her way through the forest! We fought off the Pterodactyl size mosquitoes at Skilak and caught nothing, but saw a bald eagle fly above us as we fished! We fished and camped at Ptarmigan Creek that night, with Josh catching a few little guys to pad his lead! The following day we hiked to Vagt Lake, which was ruined by the beavers damning up the water, so we got a few casts in and ate lunch on the shore of Trail Lake once we got back! Just a small glimpse of all the incredible wildlife that Alaska has to offer, and that we got to experience in a short amount of time!!

Crescent Lake Backpacking Sept. 2018
Kelsey and Rob joined me on this fall backpacking trip to Crescent Lake in the Mission Mountains Wilderness. This was a short hike to Crescent Lake where we set up camp. We then hiked a half mile past Crescent to Heart Lake and explored around there for a while. We wanted to do one last backpacking trip before the snow fell and we timed it perfect. It started snowing right after we got packed up and continued all the way back to the trailhead. The average temperature while there was 32 degrees which was a little chilly, but thankfully there was an abundance of firewood all over. Overall two beautiful lakes to check out for a quick backpacking trip or can easily be done in a day hike. A bonus for this hike or Turquoise Lake is you get a great overlook of Glacier Lake.

Alaska 2019
Whispered in the wind, this land sings its essence to us.
Alaska is so intense that there is no clear path, sooner or later, this land takes us into its mystery, into its wilderness. To touch and vibrate with this wild territory is to accept to go further and deeper. Deeper, to enter into our inner wilderness, to follow our free and wild being.

Hike Carter Lake Alaska!
This is a BEAUTIFUL hike on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. It felt like I was in a scene from the Sound of Music :)
I would rate this as an intermediate hike, as the first mile to mile and a half have some elevation gains. After that, it opens to a beautiful alpine meadow with gorgeous 360 views! There are a couple options, you can hike to Carter Lake, or continue on as we did to Crescent Lake. The trail actually continues beyond that as well. I would definitely recommend the hike if you're in South Central Alaska.
