Cootamundra Captains: Australian Test Cricketer Statues
The NSW town of Cootamundra is the site of the Captain's Walk, which is a series of bronze statues of all Australian test cricket captains, as well as Johnny Mullagh (from the 1868 indigenous team that toured Britain). Whilst some of the busts are excellent some (e.g. Richie Benaud, Ian Chappell) are laughably bad.
The music accompanying the slide show is 'Here Comes The Aussies', a recording made by Ian Chappell's 1972 team that toured England.
The figures cited on each picture represents the years that player was captain of Australia, their wins, losses and draws.
These photos pre-date the captaincies of Michael Clarke and Shane Watson.

A cricketer in Flanders Fields
Colin Blythe was one of England's greatest cricketers. Like so many sportsmen he made the ultimate sacrifice at Passchendaele and now lies in the Commonwealth War Graves Oxford Road Cemetery near Ypres, under an inscription chosen by his grieving widow. I filmed just after sunrise, with a Canon XF200.

Birdsville Cemetery Queensland Australia
Birdsville Cemetery Queensland Australia
Despite visiting far-flung places, and travelling long distances, we still make time to check out memorials and graves in some remote communities.
Birdsville has a small cemetery which was in need of much TLC when we visited. There are stones for early European settlers as well as some memorials to members of the local Aboriginal community. I am not sure of the cultural correctness of publishing these transcriptions and our local Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Keeping Place was unable to advise me. If you think they should be removed then please let me know.

Hall Cemetery *Resting Place Of Famous Author*
Today I ventured to the Hall Cemetery on the outskirts of the Australian Capital Territory to visit the final resting place of our 2012 Australian Best Selling Author.
Hall Cemetery is over 100 years old and is the oldest public cemetery in the ACT that is still open to burials. It is also home to a few threatened plant species.

Wagga Wagga
Wagga Wagga is a city in New South Wales, Australia. Straddling the Murrumbidgee River, with an urban population of 55,364 people, Wagga Wagga is the state's largest inland city, and is an important agricultural, military, and transport hub of Australia. It is midway between the two largest cities in Australia, Sydney and Melbourne, and is the major regional centre for the Riverina and South West Slopes regions.
The central business district is focused around the commercial and recreational grid bounded by Best and Tarcutta Streets and the Murrumbidgee River and the Sturt Highway. The main shopping street of Wagga is Baylis Street which becomes Fitzmaurice Street at the northern end. The city is in an alluvial valley and much of the city has a problem with urban salinity.
