Cucamonga Peak, Etiwanda, Rancho Cucamonga, California
Cucamonga Peak
at 8,862 feet (2,701 m) is one of the highest peaks of the San Gabriel Mountains, and is located in San Bernardino County, California. It is within the Cucamonga Wilderness of the San Bernardino National Forest.
It was named after the 19th century Mexican land grant, Rancho Cucamonga, that was below it.
The mountain towers over the Inland Empire cities of Rancho Cucamonga, Ontario and Fontana.
The summit can be seen west of Cajon Pass on Interstate 15, the route from Southern California to Las Vegas.
The peak can also be seen on a extremely clear days from Mount San Jacinto 46 miles (74 km) to the southeast, and Santa Monica to the far west.

Etiwanda, Rancho Cucamonga, California
In November 1881 George and William Chaffey purchased the land from Joseph Garcia, a retired Portuguese sea captain. The town was named for an Indian tribe living on the shores of Lake Michigan. As the first town planned by the Chaffey brothers, Etiwanda became their test bed. The Etiwanda Water Company, a mutual water company, and pipe system of irrigation designed by George Chaffey became the standard for water system management in southern California. Two other events are a further testament to the Chaffeys' innovation. The first long-distance telephone call in southern California was completed between San
Bernardino and Etiwanda in 1882 and the Chaffey-Garcia house boasted electric lights on December 4, 1882.
The Pacific Electric Railway, the Big Red Cars, reached Etiwanda in 1914, with rails reaching Etiwanda from Upland by December 1913, on a line that connected San Bernardino to the east with the greater Los Angeles basin to the west. The line opened on March 24, 1914. Regular passenger operations ended on November 1,
1941, although specials operated for several years, especially during World War II. On October 1, 1951, the San Bernardino line was completely dieselized and the trolley wire was removed shortly thereafter. As of 2011, the 1914-vintage PE passenger station is being restored to an as-constructed state.

Fontana is a city of 207,460 residents in San Bernardino County, California. Founded by Azariel Blanchard Miller in 1913, it remained essentially rural until World War II, when entrepreneur Henry J. Kaiser built a large steel mill in the area. It is now a regional hub of the trucking industry, with Interstate 10 and State Route 210 transecting the city from east to west, and Interstate 15 passing diagonally through its northwestern quadrant
It is home to the Auto Club Speedway on the site of the Kaiser Steel Mill. Fontana also hosts the Fontana Days Half Marathon and 5K run. This race is the fastest half-marathon course in the world.
The name fontana is Italian for fountain or water source, being in close proximity to the Santa Ana River to the east.
Fontana was founded in 1913 by Azariel Blanchard Miller.
Within a few years it became an agricultural town of citrus orchards, vineyards and chicken ranches astride U.S. Route 66 (now known as Foothill Boulevard).
The Fontana area was radically transformed during World War II when Henry J. Kaiser built one of only two steel mills west of the Mississippi River outside the city limits. To provide for the plant workers' health needs, Henry J. Kaiser constructed the Fontana Kaiser Permanente medical facility, now the largest managed care organization in the United States.
In the 1950s and '60s, Fontana was home to a drag racing strip that was a venue in the NHRA circuit. Mickey Thompson's Fontana International Dragway was also referred to as Fontana Drag City or Fontana Drag Strip. The original Fontana strip is long since defunct, but the owners of NASCAR's new Auto Club Speedway opened a new NHRA-sanctioned drag strip in Fontana in mid-2006 to resurrect Fontana's drag-racing heritage.
Ro-Val's automobile museum, located on Foothill Boulevard on the western outskirts between Fontana and Cucamonga, was for a while the home for many classic automobiles of the 1920s and '30s, including a huge vehicle once owned by screen actor Fatty Arbuckle. When the Ro-Val museum closed, the vehicles were sold to Bill Harrah, a Nevada casino owner and automobile collector, who placed them on display in the museum located at his casino.
As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 128,929, but the present population is now estimated to have reached over 200,000 (2013). This rapid expansion had much to do with the numerous large, new residential developments in the almost totally undeveloped northern part of the city, as well as with the city's aggressive (and highly successful) campaign to annex several unincorporated, but developed, San Bernardino county island areas in

10 Affordable Cities To Live In the Inland Empire
Subscribe to get SoCal Real Estate and Mortgage Updates:
Ready To Buy? Call me at 909-920-3500 or visit
I'm sharing with you my top list, my favorite spots, the best, most affordable cities to purchase in the Inland Empire. I have picked these cities because they are not only affordable, but they are quality and they have something really great to offer.
My number one place is a place that I used to live in and spend a lot of time in, Rancho Cucamonga. It's very close to the mountains, it's a newer city and it's ran very well, has great school districts, 45 minutes out from the beach or LA, and has really great public transportation.
Number two, Upland! I love Upland. My office is in Upland, I'm an Upland girl, so much fun stuff to do in Upland. Much like Rancho Cucamonga, proximity to so many services, transportation, that it's a really wonderful city to live in. It just doesn't have as much inventory as Rancho Cucamonga, but nonetheless, I freaking love me some Upland real estate.
North Ontario is beautiful. The inventory is exquisite, craftsman style homes. They have a historic district there, so these homes have to maintain the integral charm of whatever year they were built in. There's 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s houses, but primarily, it's 40s, 50s, and 60s houses, a lot of craftsman stuff, a lot of Spanish stuff. And mind you, all of these cities qualify for buyer financing and first-time buyer financing, making them extremely, even more so affordable.
Riverside, I love the downtown area of Riverside. Lots of charm, lots of really great restaurants, night life, art, theater. I also like Jurupa Valley in Riverside for its affordability, and easy access to freeways, and just, it's a great all-around town.
So, Corona isn't largely known as affordable, unless you live in OC and you're looking to purchase something. Most people that work in Orange County or want to buy in Orange County find themselves in Corona. Well, there's a little-known affordable spot called Horse thief Canyon. They just lost their Mello-Roos. Mello-Roos is usually only good for about 15 years. It's put on a property for infrastructure development and usually is a, has a shelf life of about 15 years. So, the taxes are great there, great little spot, bigger homes, newer homes.
Temecula Valley is so freaking magnificent and wonderful. And they are really putting themselves on the map these days for their wonderful wines. You have to check out Menifee. It's super affordable, has a wide variety of real estate, from your, you know, cookie-cutter track homes to affordable homes on acreage. You would not believe the acreage and the type of home that you can get for the price in the Menifee area, so you definitely need to check that out.
Next is San Bernardino. It is a bastion of affordability and has been ever since I was a young girl. The areas that are my favorites, that I really connect with, mostly is that area out by the country club, off of Waterman. The country club area is spectacular. It's a golf course, it's a private club, but the homes around it are not private, you do not have to be a member, and there's some really sweet real estate there. There's some crazy, great, mid century modern stuff that will knock your socks off if you're into that.
But primarily, you're gonna find 50s craftsman style home or a Spanish type of home that was built in the 40's to 60's.
I love Hesperia, I love it for the proximity to the freeway. Most people purchasing in the High Desert are commuting to San Bernardino, Riverside, Pomona, some even, Orange County in LA. So, if you could get to your spot as quickly as possible, High Desert's huge. Hesperia has varied inventory, all the way from large lots and older homes, ranch style homes, to the newer stucco, five-bedroom, big, huge, bang for your buck. And if somebody wants a five-bedroom home, 3,500 square feet, and they have a certain payment requirement in mind, they're oftentimes gonna be purchasing in Hesperia in the High Desert.
Next on my list is Pinon Hills, country charm, large lots, very animal-friendly. I also love Oak Hills. Oak Hills has some amazing property, amazing, 3,000 square foot ranch style homes on two-and-a-half acres. Oak Hills, you have to have minimum lot size of two-and-a-half acres.
So, all the properties there are pretty special, custom homes. So, if you're looking to buy, sell, or invest in the Inland Empire, pick up the phone and give me a call at 909-920-3500. And for more info, you can also find me on the web at thesocalloanpro.com Have a wonderful day.

Cucamonga Peak 2016
With an altitude of 8,862 ft., Cucamonga Peak is one of the highest peaks in the San Gabriel Mountains. This is famous among So Cal hikers and part of the Six Pack of Peaks which is great for training for high altitude if one is planning to climb the highest in the lower 48 states - Mt Whitney. My buddy (Rudy) reached the summit in about 4 hours on a clear day and was able to enjoy the view up there. The cloud beneath us served as blanket over the cities below. It was an amazing experience and the view is truly rewarding. Next time around, I might try to stay the night and wake-up, have breakfast with a spectacular view. Let's go camping!
