Queen Elizabeth is just the second monarch in British history to hold the throne for 60 years -- the last being Queen Victoria, who celebrated her Jubilee in 1897 -- and the achievement didn't go unrecognised.
Families gathered to show their support as the beacons were lit at various locations between 10pm and 10.30pm.
A crowd gathered around Jawbones Hill Beacon Dartmouth UK to watch the beacon lit by John Mitchelmoor from Dartmouth 10.15pm.

Dartmouth is a beautiful little town sitting on the Dart estuary. Packed full of beautiful architecture and boats moored up, there's lots to see and do. Dartmouth was the first one of our Rockfish restaurants.

Built in 1870, Dartmouth's iconic The Rock has withstood many changes - but is now under attack .The uplifting sight is about to be lost as, for the second time in 10 years, a developer has submitted plans to extend and grow the house in front. The first extension and remodelling was sensitive…this new one is brutal. Dartmouth could lose sight of yet another part of it’s skyline and heritage.
