Beijing Train Station to Datong - China
From the crowds at Beijing Railway Station we head north out of the city to Datong.
The Beijing train station is the busiest transportation hub in China, with many railway trunks passing through the city.
Traveling to and from the city by train is very convenient, every day over seven-hundred trains run to and fro, linking the city with almost every corner of the country. There are several high-speed trains shuttling daily between Beijing and major destinations such as Shanghai, Xian, Wuhan, Guangzhou and Harbin. In addition, there are inter-city bullet trains between Being and Tianjin, whose running time is about half an hour.
However the busy rail transportation in the city also makes it difficult to get train tickets, especially during major holidays such as National Day and Spring Festival.

STORYLINE:
Chinese officials said on Thursday that they would shut down more factories and take additional cars off the roads if current pollution curbs do not clear the city's air before next week's Olympic Games.
Beijing has already taken drastic measures, including pulling half the city's 3.3 (m) million vehicles off the roads and closing some factories in the capital region.
The new emergency measures include shutting another 200-plus factories and further restricting vehicles across Beijing, Tianjin city and surrounding Hebei province, according to a notice posted on Thursday on the government's Web site.
The contingency measures would kick in after the Games begin on August 8 if authorities decide air quality had not improved enough.
In Beijing, besides current restrictions banning odd/even license plates on alternate days, automobiles whose last digit matches the last digit of the date would be banned. All construction work in Beijing would be halted.
Factory closures are already controversial, with some workers complaining about the loss of wages.
In June, Associated Press Television found coal mines and cement factories in Shanxi Province racing to complete orders before the initial ban on factory production was implemented.
Thursday's official air pollution index (API) in Beijing rose to 69. Officials calculate this average from readings taken across the city.
However independent spot checks conducted by the Associated Press near the main Olympic stadium showed much higher levels of particulate matter.
Specialist particulate sensors detected readings in the high one hundred to two hundred range.
What we are finding is, almost without fail, the particulate matter in the air is much higher than the accepted standards listed by the US Environmental Protection Agency and by the World Health Organisation, Associated Press journalist Brian Horton said.
The US EPA sets a 150 parts per (m) million standard, while the World Health Organisation recommends a level of no more than 50 parts per million.

Twin Pagoda Temple | Yongzuo Temple in Shanxi Province, China
The Twin Pagoda Temple (Chinese: 双塔寺; Pinyin: Shūangtǎsì), officially known as Yongzuo Temple (Chinese: 永祚寺; Pinyin: Yǒngzuòsì), of Taiyuan, Shanxi province, China, is a temple containing two pagodas dating from the Ming dynasty.
The East pagoda was built in 1597, and the West one in 1612. In charge of the pagoda’s construction was a high ranking monk, named Fodeng (佛灯). By the 20th century, deterioration since construction had caused the East pagoda to slant from its center of gravity by 2.87 meters. In 1995, experts set about trying to correct the slant. They removed earth from underneath the pagoda and successfully corrected the pagoda's tilt
