Cape Cod Bike Trails
One of the most enjoyable ways to see and experience the beauty of Cape Cod is on two wheels – on a bike! Cape Cod offers over 60 miles of breath-taking scenic trails for riders of all levels. Go places roads just won’t take you. Get an up-close look at nature in its purest form. All while traveling at your own pace with family, friends and fellow bike riders.
Cape Cod Canal Bike Paths
Before you even cross the bridge, there’s the Cape Cod Canal Bikeway offering over 7 miles of trails on BOTH sides of the mighty Cape Cod Canal. It’s a beautiful setting offering awe-inspiring views of the towering Bourne and Sagamore bridges and the endless boat traffic on the canal. Complete your ride in Sagamore and you’ll be steps away from Scusset Beach and the mouth of Cape Cod Bay at Scusset Harbor.
Shining Sea Bikeway
Another great option is Falmouth’s Shining Sea Bikeway. The northern end of this 11 mile bikeway is in North Falmouth. Hug the entire coast past Sippewissett Marsh, through nearby Falmouth Center, past ponds, Vineyard Sound beaches and Little Harbor. The southern end of the bikeway takes you right to the Steamship Authority parking lot in the charming village of Woods Hole.
Cape Cod Rail Trail
The longest ride on the Cape is the Cape Cod Trail Rail. This 22 mile trail follows the former railroad right-of-way through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet. This popular trail passes many local points of interest and several lakes offering many opportunities to get off the trail and visit a beach, picnic or grab an ice cream cone.
Cape Cod Nickerson State Park Bike Path
While in the Brewster area, you might want to head over to Nickerson State Park for a hilly, yet very scenic network of dedicated bike trails. This enjoyable 8 mile ride takes you through beautiful pine and fir tree forests and around ponds, lakes and bogs. It’s a great opportunity to see a unique coastal woodlands ecosystem.
Nauset Marsh Trail
Equally impressive is the Nauset Marsh Trail located in the National Seashore. This 3 mile round trip begins at Salt Pond Visitor Center in Eastham. Along the way you’ll enjoy large cedar, pine and oak forests and see panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean on your way to Coast Guard Beach.
Province Lands Trail
And last, but not least is the 7-1/4 mile Province Lands Trail. This hilly paved loop starts at the Province Lands visitor center in Provincetown and traverses much of the Province Lands’ 4,000 acres. Enjoy breathtaking marshland, endless dunes and water views along the way. A 2 mile trail extension will take you to Herring Beach, Race Point Beach and Bennet Pond.
So, the next time you set out to explore Cape Cod…consider doing it on two wheels. You might just find it to be “a most enjoyable” way to travel.

Driving Falmouth, MA Main Street
Falmouth /ˈfælmɨθ/ is a town in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States; Barnstable County is coextensive with Cape Cod. The population was 31,532 at the 2010 census, making Falmouth the second-largest municipality on Cape Cod (behind only Barnstable). The terminal for the Steamship Authority ferries to Martha's Vineyard is located in the village of Woods Hole in Falmouth. Woods Hole also contains several scientific organizations such as the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the Marine Biological Laboratory (MBL), the Woods Hole Research Center, National Marine Fisheries Aquarium, and the scientific institutions' various museums.
For geographic and demographic information on specific parts of the town of Falmouth, please see the articles on East Falmouth, Falmouth Village, North Falmouth, Teaticket, West Falmouth, and Woods Hole. Falmouth also encompasses the villages of Hatchville and Waquoit, which are not census-designated places and fall within the village of East Falmouth based on postal serviHistory[edit]
Falmouth was first settled by English colonists in 1660 and was officially incorporated in 1686. Bartholomew Gosnold named the settlement for Falmouth, Cornwall, England,[3] his home port. Early principal activities were farming, salt works, shipping, whaling, and sheep husbandry, which was very popular due to the introduction of Merino sheep and the beginnings of water-powered mills that could process the wool. In 1837, Falmouth averaged about 50 sheep per square mile.
Falmouth saw brief action in the War of 1812, when the area around Falmouth Heights, on its southern coast, was bombarded by several British frigates and ships of the line, and Massachusetts militia hastily entrenched themselves on the beaches to repulse a possible British landing which never came. By 1872, the train had come to Falmouth and Woods Hole, and some of the first summer homes were established. By the late 19th century, cranberries were being cultivated and strawberries were being raised for the Boston market. Large-scale dairying was tried in the early 20th century in interior regions. After the improvement in highways, and thanks in part to the heavy use of neighboring Otis Air National Guard Base during World War II, population growth increased significantly. Large homebuilding booms occurred in the 1970s, followed by others in the 1980s and 1990s.
In the late 1800s, after railroad service was established between Boston and Cape Cod, James Madison Beebe bought over 700 acres (280 ha) and built Highfield Hall, which is now a museum, and much of the land is preserved as Beebe Woods.
In 1965, Robert Manry sailed from Falmouth aboard his 13.5-foot (4.1 m) sailboat and reached Falmouth, England, 78 days later.

Do We Need Cycling Computers? | GCN Tech Show Ep. 37
Welcome to the GCN Tech Show. This week we are looking at a couple of spy shots of bikes, some custom shoes, golden rollers. And, we discuss whether you should you ride with or without a computer - are you addicted to cycling data?
Subscribe:
The GCN Shop:
GCN Tech Uploader:
One of the biggest changes the sport of cycling has seen is the introduction of data and gadgets, much of which can be viewed in real time on your head unit. This week we are discussing if you should always ride with data, do the numbers make you a better cyclist or is it better to ditch the data completely and just enjoy turning the pedals and being outside? It’s an interesting conundrum. Back in the day, riders would be completely blind to the speed and output of watts.
Another new bike, this time officially released is the Argon 18 Nitrogen Disc. As the name would suggest, this too is a disc brake bike. And it’s said to be quite a different bike from the Nitrogen rim brake, firstly, the forks are said to be 80% stiffer laterally than that of the rim brake bike, but with the same level of comfort.
Bike Of The Week - Last week we had the Trek Emonda of Trek Drops in that beauty of a colour, against the Canyon Aeroad of Canyon SRAM in what has previously been called the best colour scheme ever, the winner with 74% of the votes is the Canyon, amazed at that as we’ve seen so much of them. This week, let's put the battle between the Giant TCR Advanced of Michael “Bling” Matthews of Team Sunweb winner of GP Cycliste de Quebec oh, and Montreal. Up against the Pinarello Dogma of Colombian Champ Sergio Henao.
Let us know in the comments if you could survive without your data.????

Representative Dennis Richardson - District 4 - SALEM FEB 2014
Dennis Richardson has been a resident of Southern Oregon since 1979. He grew up in Los Angeles, California, and volunteered for the U.S. Army in 1969. Dennis is a decorated, veteran helicopter pilot who served in Chu Lai, Viet Nam. After returning from Viet Nam, Dennis attended college and worked as a carpenter. In 1973, he married Cathy Coyl Richardson. They are the proud parents of one son and eight daughters-all have attended the excellent schools of Gold Hill, Rogue River and Central Point, and all have graduated from Crater High School. Dennis attended Brigham Young University, Harbor College, and various U.S. Army officer and pilot training schools. He completed his Bachelor Degree in 1976 and earned his law degree at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at B.Y.U. in 1979. His articles have been published in the B.Y.U. Law Review, Tax Digest, Real Estate Review, Colorado Bar Journal and Financial Freedom Report.
Occupational Background:
Since graduating from law school, Dennis has been a practicing attorney in Central Point. He owns the law firm of Dennis Richardson & Associates, P.C., and has successfully served his clients and the community for the past 23 years. He has published articles in national journals on topics ranging from Condominium Conversions to Family Estate Trusts. Dennis began his law practice in the areas of General Law, Business, and Estate Planning. Since 1987, his law practice has focused on protecting the rights of Oregon consumers as an Insurance Plaintiff's attorney. The biography of Dennis Richardson is featured in Who's Who in the America and Who's Who in American Law. Being a small-town attorney has given Dennis the opportunity to use his legal training to benefit the community. When downtown Central Point was threatened with the opening of a pornography shop, only a few blocks from two elementary schools and several churches, Dennis joined the fight and the owner withdrew his application for the Adult Bookstore. (Many other Oregon communities have not been so fortunate.)
Prior Governmental Experience:
In 1984, as a young conservative, Dennis was selected as Oregon's delegate for the grass-roots organization, Citizens For America. Dennis was invited by the Reagan Administration to participate at the White House in a series of briefings by President Ronald Reagan and his Cabinet. A photograph of Dennis, standing in the White House with President Reagan, is proudly displayed on his law office wall. Dennis served as Chairman of the Oregon Republican Party's Second Congressional District (1996-2000), and Treasurer of the Oregon State Republican Party (1999-2003). As ORP's Treasurer, Dennis had responsibility to represent the ORP's financial affairs with both the Oregon and Federal Election Commissions and Treasury Departments during the hotly contested and closely scrutinized 2000 Presidential election cycle. Dennis also served in his community as Chair of the Budget Committee for School District 6 and as a member of the Central Point City Council. Dennis says he and Cathy have sought to pattern their lives after Benjamin Franklin, who believed that a person's first 50 years of life should be spent learning, earning and raising a family, and their last 50 years should be dedicated to giving back to society in the form of public service. To that end, Dennis Richardson is proud to have won his election to the state House of Representatives. He considers it an honor to represent the great citizens of District 4.

Long road of the South. Visionary outsider art landscape by spiritual Leon Kennedy.
Visionary outsider art spiritual landscape. Leon Kennedy: Long road of the South
eBay:
Visionary Leon Kennedy outsider folk art.
African-American spiritual visionary Leon Kennedy (b. 1945, Houston, Texas) uses mixed media on found objects to paint ecstatic visions, memory paintings, and urban life portraits. Kennedy is featured on several pages of Rosnak's Contemporary American Folk Art (Abbeville, 1996), and in Betty-Carol Sellen's important survey, Self Taught, Outsider, and Folk Art (McFarland & Company, 1999).
In 1997, the Smithsonian Institution purchased 200 significant works from the renowned Rosenak collection for an undisclosed sum estimated to be near $2M. This acquisition included a bed-sheet by Kennedy. The 1997 Folk Art Messenger, Vol. 10, No.3, reported that the acquisition makes the Smithsonian American Art Museum the world's preeminent repository for American self-taught art.
It is our desire to see them as part of the history of 20th-century American art, said Chuck Rosenak.
Mentioning Kennedy, the article notes these works were the first American collection exhibited at the Collection de l'Art Brut, Switzerland, which testifies to its quality and uniqueness. The Leon Kennedy masterwork now resides at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, while photos of Kennedy and other materials of Kennedy's are available for study at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.

A quick clarification....
It took me 8 months to learn how to do this, but I was only picking up the bike and running to the end of the driveway and back every day. I wasn't ACTIVELY trying to learn. Meaning... I wasn't struggling and trying to make my brain learn. I simply got on the bike every day, tried to operate it to the end of the driveway, turned around and tried to operate it back. The goal was to understand how my brain figured things out on its own, without trying to force it to. Many people have built bikes like this and figured it out in much less than 1 day by staying on the bike until they were able to master it. I had no timelines, and was using this as an exploratory activity to learn how I learn.
Do not misinterpret this to mean that I struggled and tried very hard every day for 8 months. That's simply not true.
