The People Mover of Detroit, Michigan
Vancouver runs similar trains except it has more people riding the system and its longer.
a lonely people mover goes around downtown Detroit. Most videos on youtube show the driver's view while this video shows the people mover running in various parts of downtown.
This was shot on Saturday.
-
The Detroit People Mover is a 2.9-mile (4.7 km) automated people mover system which operates on a single track, and encircles Downtown Detroit, Michigan.
-
The People Mover is owned and operated by the Detroit Transportation Corporation, an agency of the City of Detroit.
The Woodward Avenue Light Rail line, tentatively named M-1 Rail, beginning construction in late July 2014, will serve as a link between the Detroit People Mover and New Center Amtrak station with its current service and proposed SEMCOG Commuter Rail, plus additional access to DDOT and SMART bus routes as part of a comprehensive network of transportation in metropolitan Detroit.
-
The People Mover uses UTDC ICTS Mark I technology and the cars are driverless. A siding allows the system to be used in a two-way bypass manner when part of the circular track is closed.
The People Mover: Detroit's Subway System
Filmed on a quiet Sunday, so there were no lines and not many people:) (downtown Detroit gets extremely busy and is very highly peopled) The Detroit People Mover is an elevated L train system that operates above the streets of downtown Detroit. The new QLine Streetcar runs along Woodward Avenue and connects the People Mover to the Amtrak Station and SMART suburban and DDOT city buses.
At Detroit Metro Airport, the ExpressTram connects the North, South, and Central stations of the McNamara Terminal. In addition to taxis, Uber, an extensive bus network, and multiple Amtrak services, the QLine and People Mover provide great public transit to Detroit's citizens and visitors.
The MiTrain Commuter Rail is scheduled to open in 2022 and will connect Detroit Metro Airport with Dearborn, Ann Arbor, and other cities to downtown Detroit. This development is part of a larger revival of the City of Detroit. Detroit is under a wave of huge economic progress, and a new skyscraper broke ground on Friday and will be completed in 2021.

Detroit, Michigan - A City on the Rise
After years of decline, Detroit is now on the rise. Unlike many of the formerly Manufacturing cities of have declined and remain depressed, Detroit is rising up. We show this now beautiful city on the shores of the Detroit River in this Aerial & Ground tour of the Midwest's 2nd Largest City, only behind Chicago.
Stock footage from this video is available for purchase, contact Tampa Aerial Media.
Detroit is older than our country, founded in 1701. The city grew largely to its automobile industry, but also fell with the automobile industry. Today, however the once bankrupt city is now rising with an explosive real estate market in the downtown corridor.
We feature the People Mover in this video which was opened in 1987. It is a monorail style 2.9 mile loop around downtown with 13 stops at a fare of 75 cents. We show Ford Field home of the Lions, and Comerica Park home of the Tigers. We had meant to also show Joe Louis Arena home of the Red Wings. It is right next to the Cobo Center, and we simply saw that and was thinking we had shot the arena but didn't.
The Renaissance Center is the most impressive and modern looking of the downtown Skyscrapers. It is the world head quarters of General Motors. It is so large it has its own Zip Code. 10,000 empolyees work in this building.
Detroit People Mover - REAL USA - Episode 86
During our recent trip o Detroit, Michigan, we took a ride on the city's public transit system, the People Mover. I've ridden it before, but it has been quite a few years, and it was nice to see Motown from an elevated perspective. Speaking of perspective, it is difficult to take in all there is to see even with the human eye let along a camera lens, so we shot with two cameras and I have synchronized the footage in this video to give you the maximum view to the Motor City.

Belle Isle, officially Belle Isle Park, is a 982-acre (1.534 sq mi) island park in the Detroit River, between the United States mainland and Canada. Owned by the City of Detroit, it is managed as a state park by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources through a 30 year lease initiated in 2013.[1] Belle Isle is the largest city-owned island park in the United States and is the third largest island in the Detroit River after Grosse Ile and Fighting Island. It is connected to mainland Detroit by the MacArthur Bridge.
The island is home to the Belle Isle Aquarium, the Belle Isle Conservatory, the Belle Isle Nature Zoo, the Detroit Yacht Club on an adjacent island, the James Scott Memorial Fountain, the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, a Coast Guard station, a municipal golf course and numerous monuments. It also previously housed a Nature Center where visitors were able to traverse wooded trails and view wildlife natural habitats, a former Belle Isle Zoo, riding stables and the Detroit Boat Club. The island includes a half-mile (800 m) swimming beach.
DETROIT, MICHIGAN
Driving in Detroit, mostly Downtown Area.
Last 3 min of the video: some nice close-ups of the GM Building, Entrance into the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel (Canada-bound) AND a US Border Patrol Parking Lot, IMHO a total waste of money to keep so many vehicles in this very area instead of using them exactly where they are REALLY needed, The MEXICAN Border, in 20+ years I've never heard of any lunatic trying to get into Detroit, USA illegally, swimming of course.
Hopefully this video is gonna put a little smile on the brave and hardworking ppl of Detroit in these very hard times for them:
Bad, VERY bad politics of a particular political spectrum, the major cause for how Detroit looks like and experiencing nowadays.
Music by Detroit's own son, the one and only KID ROCK.
Kid Rock on Fox News with Megyn Kelly:
So enjoy the video, visit Detroit when in the area, listen to Kid Rock if you wish, and, last but not least: BE FREE.
GOD BLESS

What Detroit Looks Like From Its Bizarre 'People Mover' Train
Previously, we showed you the love/hate relationship between the city of Detroit and the People Mover — a unique light rail system in downtown.
While it might be a money-losing venture, the People Mover does provide a great view of downtown Detroit. It takes the People Mover 15 minutes to do a complete lap around downtown Detroit. Watch our video to see it all in just over a minute.

Heading East to the Midwest (Pt. 72) - The 75 Cent Detroit People Mover Tour
July 14, 2015 - For just 75 cents you can take a scenic one-way tour around downtown Detroit on the Detroit People Mover. Detroit has some interesting architecture and the train provides a great way to see it all in under 15 minutes and without moving a muscle. From Comerica Park to Greektown to Bricktown to the Renaissance Center to the Riverfront, it's a great little journey that always has seats available.
In a city as car-happy as Detroit, I'm not surprised they don't have a more expansive rail transit system. I was also not surprised at how empty the train was in the middle of the day; maybe on game days this thing is used a lot more.
For friends in Vancouver you may notice it looks pretty familiar; that is because the Detroit People Mover is built by Bombardier, using the exact same technology as the SkyTrain.
