Bhoga Narasimha Temple The Bhoga Narasimha Temple is located at the base of the hillock of the Devarayanadurga and the deity as we all know is dedicated to Lord Narasimha. This temple enjoyed the patronage of many kings from various dynasties and also is well known for its simple but beautiful architectural marvel. There are numerous pillars dotting the temple, on which inscriptions have been carved regarding the history of the temple and the various rulers. Yoga Narasimha Temple Another temple which is located in Devarayanadurga is the Yoga Narasimha Temple which is on the hillock. Around 650 steps have to be climbed to reach the temple and the scenic beauty will definitely leave the climbers spellbound. Lush greenery can be found around the hillock which gives a relief from the tedious task of climbing the steps.

Devarayanadurga is located very close to Tumkur district in Karnataka. True to its name “Devarayanadurga, when translated aptly means “Fort of the God”. Though it had various other names, it got the name Devarayanadurga after the Mysore ruler Chikka Devaraja Wodeyar captured it on one of his victorious feats.
The place is located above 4000 feet above sea level and can be a weekend pilgrimage spot and getaway for a quick retreat or picnic, to escape from the grind of the daily hustle and bustle of city life. It is also a trekker’s paradise, due to the fact that it has numerous hillocks surrounding it, and many wildlife enthusiasts, in fact, throng the place for various wildlife shoots etc. It is declared as a protective reserved forest by the forest department of Government of Karnataka.
Bhoga Narasimha Temple
The Bhoga Narasimha Temple is located at the base of the hillock of the Devarayanadurga and the deity as we all know is dedicated to Lord Narasimha. This temple enjoyed the patronage of many kings from various dynasties and also is well known for its simple but beautiful architectural marvel. There are numerous pillars dotting the temple, on which inscriptions have been carved regarding the history of the temple and the various rulers.

Another temple which is located in Devarayanadurga is the Yoga Narasimha Temple which is on the hillock. Around 100 steps have to be climbed to reach the temple and the scenic beauty will definitely leave the climbers spellbound. Lush greenery can be found around the hillock which gives a relief from the tedious task of climbing the steps.
Namada Chilume
Namada Chilume is around 10 kms from Devarayanadurga and has good roads. The entry fee to this place is nominally priced and this place has a natural spring on its premises.

Devarayana Durga is one of the coolest place to visit for Bangalorians. Its just 80kms from Bangalore.
Places to visit in Tumkur | Namada Chilume, near Devarayanadurga
Namada Chilume (pronounced naamada chilume' in Kannada) is a natural spring situated by Devarayanadurga, near Tumkur in the state of Karnataka in India. The spring issues from the surface of the rock. It is believed that Rama, along with Sita and Lakshmana, stayed here during their exile in the forest. Rama searched for water to apply tilaka to his forehead. When he could not find any water, he shot an arrow at the rock. The arrow penetrated the rock, made a hole, and the water came out. Henceforth, this place was called Namada Chilume, meaning Spring of Tilak. (naama = tilak and chilume' = spring, in Kannada) As shown in the picture, the water comes out from a small hole throughout the year and never dries up. The water that comes out is considered as sacred water (tirtha). It is approximately 14 km from Tumkur and 80 km from Bengaluru.

Devarayanadurga temple Tumkur
Lord Rama Made this Water Spring | Namada Chilume | Near DD Hills | Tumkur, Bengaluru, Karnataka
Namada Chilume is a natural water spring located near Devarayana Durga Hills or DD Hills in Tumkur district of Karnataka. This is the place where Lord Rama along with Sita and Lakshmana stayed here during their exile in the forest. Lord Rama made this water spring when he could not find any water source to apply tilaka on his forehead. To make this water spring he shot an arrow on the rock and water came out. Hence this place was called Namada Chilume, meaning Water of Spring. This water keeps running throughout the year and never dries up.
Namada Chilume is around 75 km from Bangalore and 15 km from Tumkur. Several buses ply this route and hence reaching Namada Chilume is not tough by road. If you reach Tumkur, you can hire an auto or taxi to reach this place.

on a nice saturday morning, we landed in namadachilume and then drove to devarayanadurga. whatta day !
The Laxmi Narasimha Temples of Devarayana Durga (Karnataka)
Devarayana durga is famous mainly for two temples, Bhoga laxmi narasimha swamy temple at the foot of the hill and yoga laxmi narasimha swamy temple at the top of the hill. This place is about 70 kms from Bangalore. We had free lunch (rice, sambar etc) in bhoga laxmi narasimha swamy temple. After going to the top of the hill through motorable road we had to climb about 200 steps to reach yoga narasimha swamy temple on the hill at about 4000 ft above sea level. The views of the valley were very interesting while climbing the hill. There were large number of monkeys everywhere which were rather very friendly. Below bhoga laxmi narasimha swamy temple there was a small Bira anjaneya swamy temple and the temple pond. Overall the journey was excellent.
