Louisiana's Disappearing Dance halls
This is my May Sweeps story. It's about Louisiana's Disappearing Dance halls. They were once a staple all across the state. Live music from some of the most popular artists of the time, drinks, and dancing were the norm for entertainment on weekends. So far, researchers have counted more than 1700 across the southern region of Louisiana, now that number has been depleted down to the dozens. I spoke with researchers, historians, and someone who lived to see it all unfold about Louisiana's dance halls, what they meant, how most of them disappeared and the state of dance halls in Louisiana presently. Enjoy!
